Should we give people in the past leeway in terms of morality and ethics? I’ve often thought about this growing up, while in school, and even at times in my adult life. With the unrest ongoing in…
“One thing we do know: Life will give you whatever experience is most helpful for the evolution of your consciousness. How do you know this the experience you need? Because this is the experience you are having at this moment.”
— Eckhart Tolle, A New Earth (via zenwords)

I was talking to someone who’s not polyamorous about my girlfriend.
“But what if she likes her more than she likes you? How would you deal with that?” she asked.
“That’s impossible”, I said.
“That sounds pretty arrogant. What if she thinks she’s better than you?”
“Let me clarify - she cannot possibly be better than me... at being me. Just like I can’t be better than her at being her. I’m a banana, she’s an orange. She loves bananas and she loves oranges, but an orange is always going to be a better orange than a banana, and a banana beats an orange at being a banana every time”
“What?!”
“When she wants a banana, here I am. When she wants an orange, she’s her girl”
“...what if she wants a fruit salad?”
“That’s what boardgame nights are for”
