Getting started with the sound deadening for the van. 2mm Silent Coat going in first followed by ThermaWrap insulation then boarded and carpeted. Shutting the barn doors now gives a satisfying thud rather than the original tinny, rattly noise. Just like a Golf 👍🏻

The new winter bike/commuter bike arrived today. I went for a Specialized Diverge Sport in the end.

First impression is that it’s a nice enough looking bike, the matt grey finish looks pretty good and I’m sure it’ll be fairly hard wearing as the finish on most Specialized bikes seems to be.

The bike itself is specced with a 9 speed Sora groupset which I’ve decided to swap out for an 11 speed 105 set-up. The Specialized Axis wheels were pretty heavy so they’ve been switched for a set of Kinesis Crosslight numbers. The wheel swap has knocked roughly 1kg off the overall weight of the bike, not bad for a £250 outlay on the wheels 👍🏻

Great ride today on the North Downs Way. First time out there, nothing particularly difficult or technical but enough to keep it enjoyable. The bike was faultless as ever. I've no idea how Pivot managed to design a frame that manages to be fast, climbs like a dream and is still comfortable. So much more enjoyable than work on a perfect spring day.
