Whee! Gonna get some colour on this now!
I finally figured out how to animate the background decorations. - And how to screen cap footage instead of filming the screen like I'm 900 years old.
I’m super pleased with this. It took me all day. All. Damn. Day.
Walking cycles make my head hurt!
Morning folks!
Gonna need a lot of these to get through today!
I fancy just sitting here and reading all day.
It's a bit windy here!
I finished that late night sketch I did. She's pretty cool.
Yay!
My hands are finally starting to feel a little better from the weird mystery illness I have had for the past 4 weeks that caused them to hurt so much that I couldn't work, draw, feed myself or do pretty much anything for that matter! I was starting to think it wasn't going to get better! Hopefully tomorrow i'll get some feedback from the doctors regarding some blood tests I had done to find out what the hell even caused this strangeness!
Hey everyone! I'm really happy to be able to finally show you these cool posters for Great Northern and Thames Link that I got to work on over the last month. Keep an eye out as you may spot them on your travels! It's also the cover of Time Out London as well!
Don't mess with Larry the Lumberjack. He'll F' you up!
The difference 3 years makes!
For the final major project of my university illustration course I made 3 children's books. One of them was called ‘ The lumberjack and The Mountain’. It was about a lumberjack named Larry, who was a bit of an asshole and him chopping down the mountains luscious beard of pine trees. I really enjoyed making it at the time, but I haven't thought of it much since.
Every year I like to revisit one project from the past, and ‘redo’ it as I would If I were doing it for the first time now - and I also like to use this project as an excuse to experiment and push my skills and style a bit further than it was before. This year I chose to tackle this picture book. This is just the poster I designed for the book, but I’m going to be recreating the entire book too!
Hey there I'm currently studying Foundation art and design at DMU and I'm looking to go into illustration, I found your work and have instantly fallen in love with your illustrations!! I was just wondering, are there any tips you could give to aspiring artists? Many thanks!!!
Hi Hamish, Thanks for your ask! For me, I find remembering to not be too precious with your art is important - if it doesn't work out, just finish it and move on. 2 - You can refine the life and energy out of an illustration if you aren’t careful. So don't over do it! 3 - Give yourself limits - see what you can do with limited colours or lines - you don't have to stay that way, but you will definitely learn something. 4 - Have fun! Otherwise what’s the point eh? I hope that is somewhat useful for you, those are the things I try to keep in mind even now. Good luck with your Foundation course!
I don't know where I'm going from here, but I promise it won't be boring.
