◤ He had one job and that was to pull the young soldier out of her dream before she is lost within it forever. Something simple right? Well at least it’s what he thought. The necessary spiritual steps were done and Zidane had entered into her dream. At first simply drifting through so much randomness. Whilst drifting in the dream his eyes spotted a situation playing out, Lightning and another woman. She looked..just like her. Was this possibly her mother?? Whoever she was the woman then vanishes as quick as she appeared. Was this the dream manifesting the memory of her mother’s death to play out?
That was incredibly painful. The dream then took control of him once more as the entire scene changed and his own body was thrown in the middle of a performance. But he took the initiative and escaped the strings and dashes towards the pink haired maiden. Her voice, clearly broken because of her pain. It hurt him too, he knew not of his own family once upon a time. And then realized he was not even given the pleasures of having a mother in the first place. It was indeed a sad ordeal but he had to remind her that things weren’t always bad. “I came to get you out of here, Light…none of this is real. I mean sure it happened all before and yes it really is sad but I promise you..things always get better. Loneliness isn’t a feeling that lasts your entire life.”
Lightning, who was normally the stone-cold soldier, felt as though tears could form and roll down her face at any moment. She had become the child she was back then, and with that her hard exterior had softened. His words may have reached her ears, but they did not immediately pull her from her trance. It was a trance that she knew a little too well to leave that easily. It was her past; it was a part of her.
“Sometimes it’s a little too real.” Her voice sounded weak to her, which she could not stand. It was almost forceful like a hiss, however, due to her own disgust to this. Her emotions began to wash over her like a wave so large it could bury a ship at sea. His promise caught her off guard. She couldn’t keep doing this… which was immediately revealed to him as the tears finally welled up in her eyes. “How do I make it stop…” she found herself barely able to say these words. She let out a heavy sigh in frustration as the tears began to roll down her face faster than she could halt them. She gave up trying to speak, and hung her head a bit, allowing her long pink locks to cover her face.
◤ It really did hurt to see the female this way. She was usually so strong, he had to have known that there was an unimaginable amount of inner turmoil at work behind such strength. And then came her question, things like this don’t just stop, nor will they either. But what could he say? She was not a child so it wasn’t as if he could lie to her and ensure her that everything will be all right. No, he couldn’t..he wouldn’t. He simply took a deep breath and upon exhaling there was a rather genuine smile on his face. “There’s just no way, but don’t you see? This is why whenever something good does come around we enjoy every second of it. Whilst I can’t ever stop you from being upset or even sad I can promise one thing.” A single one of his hand held her very own. “I’ll be there for you, it’s what friends are for. We support each other at our worst.”
She gripped his hand tight as it filled her own as if she was desperately trying to cling to the reality that she found herself so far separated from. “…I know…” she managed. Those words meant way more to her than she could properly express in this moment… more than he may know. She didn’t wish to be lied to. Had he told her a fabrication that this would go away entirely, she might have lashed out and spat it back in his face. For it to go away, she knew she would have to forget all of the pain. To forget the pain, she would have to forget the people - the love. She refused to forget something - no someone - that she held so near to her heart. Still, it took everything in her power not to break down even further. Her body ached in its newly acquired unsteadiness. It felt like it could move on its own, or collapse at any moment. She too took a deep breath, attempting to shake that feeling, however it was not going to be an easy feat. “…thank you…” It escaped her before she even realized the words were forming.
◤ He felt her own hand holding his, so close and tight. Holding her hand was something he’d probably been seeking but not this way. The young man would really much prefer her smiling. However, her words of appreciation made him smile first. Maybe she was doing his job for him and not the other way around. Slowly he pulls the female up to stand, now comes the hard part. Waking her up and bringing her back into the world of reality. “That’s one part down, you’re actually dreaming right now. There could be a million reasons why I'm able to just waltz in here but for now you’ve gotta wake up. The real world isn’t perfect but I promise as long as you’ve got me..well I’ll turn it into a paradise for you however I can.”
