Whimsical Cutouts Taking Over The World

Photographer Rich McCor, the artist behind the quirky series juxtaposes paper silhouettes between his lens and the famous landscape, in an effort to showcase his humour through his artworks. It is almost as if the world is a big playground where he is the giant seen to be interacting with the landmarks.

His series has taken him his hometown of London, as well as in Toronto, and even to the streets of South Korea, McCor trying to leave a mark in this chaotic world.

Surreal Art by Ronald Ong

The 19 year old from Malaysia sees the world as if it is a giant blob of magic, where everything and anything is possible. A lone explorer surfs the simultaneous wave with the gigantic whale, where he and his aquatic friend are seen enjoying the tide against the scenic sunset. In another composition, the dots on the deer’s skin are scattered into the night sky, becoming one and the same with the stars shining bright. It is as if Ong is urging us to escape into the otherworldly scenes and to take on the whimsical ride where the line separating surrealism and reality are blurred into one.

Animated  GIFs on the internet has been our source of entertainment for the last few years, its endless loop making our eyes stay glued to the screen. But, few GIF creators have decided to take the game one step ahead by making them in 3D.

By carefully placing a couple of white vertical lines, to the moving images, an incredible three-dimensional effect is made. It will make you feel as if the characters are moving from the background to the foreground in the blink of an eye!

Intricate Architectural Sculptures Made of Sticks And Strings

Moreno weaves and heaves his imagination into the sculpting board, creating masterpieces that are structures of integrity. He exhibits the power of design, that can be executed with even the weakest pins, sticks and strings if planned to each miniscule point and joint. Each piece is a contemporary, often inspired by classic, architectural setup, made to resemble the frenzied scribblings of an architect in the excitement of creation. The ghostly skeletons of these buildings are indestructible shadows and foundations of the past and future welded into a single entity.

Binded Notebook Illustrations

His love for nature is evident in each of his compositions that speak of the majestic trees of the forest, the little bird perched on its branch, the fungi occupying the forest floor. The notebooks all have a brown, solid background and his colorful pencil sketches pop out against it wonderfully. This series mainly was his daily project for Inktober this year where Straver has specifically kept a part of his day to indulge in some daily doodles.

Three Dimensional Wire Mesh Formations

Jurek creates an elaborate and seemingly endless network of white capillaires that create a mesh of perforated flesh. The fabric becomes the skin and skeleton that holds the artwork upright in its structural composition. Undoubtedly, the architectural framework, at first glance seems spontaneous- the veins reaching out hungrily and spontaneously into each other to become a fibrous monstrosity yet each form is characterized by its the muscular trenches that form at certain points to become a pure reflection of a real limb.

Luisa Azevedo's Surreal World

The 18 year old juxtaposes photographs of landscapes with that of creatures of the forest seamlessly and the result is breathtakingly beautiful. “I’ve always been fascinated by arts, but I only discovered photography through Instagram at the age of 15. At the beginning I took simple photos with my mobile phone, but soon I realized I wanted to learn more. As my interest in photography grew, I started to search and try new techniques, leading me to Photoshop,” writes the budding photographer on Bored Panda.

Cyril Ronaldo And His Make Believe World

His otherworldly scenes test our own imagination as much as it stretches his own, where this Southern France based artist and psychologist infuses everyday scenes with surrealistic elements. A family of three is seen to embark on a new journey together, standing on a pair of palm that acts as a platform for them. Water cascades from the thumbs as if waterfalls falling down a high mountainous terrain. In another sublime piece, a couple is enjoying their first dance, perched on a person’s finger, surrounded by birds everywhere. And the best part about Ronaldo’s compositions is that they would make you believe in his fantasy as well.

Serene Marine Illustrations

Whales, dolphins, seals, sharks and a variety of other wildlife that are possibly on the brink of extinct thrive in the gentle blue watercolors cascading on her paper.

Fleur’s drawings reveal the gentle beauty of these creatures, their sheer size mistaken for aggression, and paints them with a curious and playful rendition.  Frolicking in clear blue hues, depicting the sea and sky, the form of these animals become clear. Fleur revels in their majestic stature, while journalling the unique species of whales, dolphins and other aquatic wildlife has become the artist’s speciality.

Artist Who Compiles Photographs of Windows

In order to visually document these beautiful windows, the Portuguese artist has traveled to Italy, The Alps, England, Romania, and Spain to capture their colorful and intricate detail where each window gives us a small peek into their lives. At first Goncalves shoots them with his camera and then combines his individual images into large collage grids, grouped by location, a lengthy process but worth it. He believes that “windows can be enigmatic and very revealing when it comes to history, culture and a multitude of hidden nuances.”

Goncalves views windows as the “source of a building’s personality,” and he certainly exhibits this in his work and you can view them here.

Lizzie Campbell And Her Polymer Movie Posters

The Warwickshire based sculptor and illustrator is also a clay artist who has been busy making her own versions of posters for Stranger Things, IT,  Beetlejuice, American Horror Story, The Bride of Frankenstein, Day of the Dead and many more. All these movies have a spooky element in them but Campbell’s polymer sculptures give them a funny look, that almost takes away from their eerie side.  All her projects are completed in her studio called Clay Disarray, which also happens to be her pseudonym.

The sculptor went to Warwickshire School of Arts in Leamington, followed by the Birmingham Institute of Art & Design. She has a BA (Hons) in Visual Communication, specialising in illustration, which comes in handy when she translates her eclectic taste in music and movies to her quirky works of art.

Molten Ceramic Sculptures

She aims to focus on the strengths of the relationships that human beings establish with the non-descript material objects through this series. The intricate patterns on these ceramic pieces are seen to be undisturbed as the mold of the sculptures break free, just like liquid.  It is as if Marin has thought of an alternative form of  demise for these sculptures where they melt instead of shattering into pieces.

Crystal-Jade Vaughan's Inktober Series

The illustrator, creative director and storyteller likes to keep it simple and minimal; for her Inktober series, Vaughan composes artworks in ink that gives  off a very retro vibe. And her visual stories are all revolving around the female protagonist, a witch who practises runestone calligraphy along with her magic spells. She illustrates witches that are not ordinary, women who love to bury their faces in books, enjoy a cup of cinnamon pumpkin latte, perfecting a love potion secretly in the basement and play with her soft little kitty.

The Beauty Of Birds

Więckowska was inspired by “old natural history books and antique prints of birds and plants” and rather than a scientific classification, she uses her methodology to feature the delicate and refined qualities of birds. The seldom seen birds grace our presence, returning from the edge of extinction, if only through imaginative rendering. If the actions of people send drive these beautiful feathered beasts into the heart of wild, or out of existence, then could art reclaim what could be lost in the future? Więckowska proves that art could also become a scientific and more visually engaging way to reach countless with the message of saving nature from the clutches of destruction.

Candy Clouds And Bubble Gum Stars

Avoiding generic content and the digital cliche, Lei opts for colorful, uniquely themed environments ranging from calm blue marine waters to a dark black valley on the moon. Her choice of colours, egometric and shapes that seem to transform clouds and planets into bubbles and candy colored objects transform the commercial requirements of the client into a rather modern and uplifting content. Issued for children, the project carefully considers the best visual way to capture the imagination and excitement of children.
