Valerie?? Shes so pretty!! Also if Kalos is pokemon france, it'd be pretty close to Galar, so it makes sense that they could meet. How did you get into this ship??

She is 😭 And same thought! I headcanon that Kalos isn’t too far away from Galar, because of where their real life country counterparts are located. How I got into it though is kind of tricky to describe (and I’m sorry in advance for the length 😂):
So, I love Valerie. She’s one of my favorite gym leaders, right next to Milo. A little while after Milo was revealed in the first trailer for SWSH, I just....started thinking about them? And then I started thinking about the dynamics they could have.
Val specializes in fairies and lives in an otherworldly city off in swampy woodlands. Milo specializes in grass pokemon and lives out on the countryside. They each got a real close tie to nature in both senses, so imo they can connect to one another over that.
Second, I honestly have this fun lil headcanon that Valerie’s actually a faery / faerie (the mythological creature, separate from fairy pokemon), because I mean...look at her. And, the thought of a faery falling in love with a human, especially one close to nature, really appeals to the “immortal x mortal” ship lover in me tbh. Think of it like those “angel / demon x human” stories that’ve been done a lot, though a faery and a human would make a great focus in a medieval / fantasy love story ngl if it hasn’t been done already.
Their professions outside of the gym leader roles also fit together in an ironic kind of way. You would probably see Valerie as an elite or noble, widely respected in Kalos for her fashion design work and recognized globally, while Milo’s just a simple farmer who doesn’t have an extravagant life. In that regard their different social classes are almost sheer opposites, but then again, opposites attract.
Lastly, I think their personalities would gel really well! It’s canon that Milo’s a gentle, sweet guy, but I’ve formed my own interpretation of Valerie (since so little of her is shown in XY, and I don’t watch the anime or read the manga).
I think of her as a kindhearted lady who's a little airheaded and detached at times, having a habit of daydreaming, but she has an honest nature and possesses a gentle aura in her own right. To me, Milo and her would go together like milk & honey.
