hello everyone, & welcome to the 5th consecutive year of seren abaru's selfshiptober event ! for those who are unfamiliar, selfshiptober is a halloween-themed, prompt-based creation event for selfshippers of all kinds. there are two prompts assigned to each day of october, as well as 16 alternative prompts that can be "subbed-in" for any of the main prompts. participants are intended create something for your selfships based upon any of these prompts — whether that be fanfics, art, edits, or some other craft.
the daily prompts are broken up into two categories: "shippy" & "spooky" respectively! "shippy" prompts are traditionally, well, shippy! they lean toward fluff, intimacy, and romance. the "spooky" prompts are halloween-themed, covering seasonal activities, supernatural and horror-esque themes, and sometimes even angst. the two prompts offer a fun duality: some people live for the scary side of halloween, whereas others just want some cute scenarios to picture their ships in. this event offers prompts that cater to both audiences!
while creating for selfshiptober, you may stick strictly to one category for the whole month, combine both prompts into a single scenario, or swap back and forth between the two depending on how you feel each day! if neither prompt appeals to you on a given day, feel free to substitute for an alternative prompt.
