In case you missed it, here is our cute as fuck pitch video for the upcoming short stopmotion animated film of Neil Gaiman's poem 'In Relig Odhrain'. everything is ok INCLUDES CAT
Wow. We did it! YOU did it! This film is gonna happen. We've met our funding goal, pushed across the threshold by a generous pledge from none other than director Guillermo del Toro(what!), and the support continues to roll in. So, what next?
Films are hungry beasts and will devour as much budget as they can. We want use the extra funding to make this animation faster and better. Our new stretch goal is $65,000 - reaching that threshold will allow us to level up the production in a lot of ways, including:
Bring an additional animator on board! More hands means we can finish the film faster, and have more animation in each scene. This will make a huge difference.
More studio space! A black out room dedicated to just animating, saving on set up time and allowing construction and shooting to run in parallel.
Time in a studio to record live musicians for the score!
We only have one shot at this, and we want put these funds into to making the best film possible to share with you all. Check out our new rewards http://kck.st/1Wae2N8
NEW ART REWARD!
We have some lovely new rewards coming up, the first of which has just been added to the campaign! With the project going so well, Ellen has been working hard on preproduction art and we have a new tier of concept sketches available as rewards. These will be graphite landscape sketches of the backgrounds we are developing for the film. If you're keen, get in quick - the other concept paintings got snapped up fast! http://kck.st/1Wae07T
HOT DAMN - Guillermo del Toro takes us over the threshold, making this film a reality! http://kck.st/1PS8teG

It’s on! Just launched the kickstarter for our stopmotion animation of Neil Gaimans poem IN RELIG ODHRAN! Go forth & pledge! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/jimbatt/the-grave-of-saint-oran-a-neil-gaiman-animation?token=cd84d84f
The Grave Of Saint Oran is a short stopmotion animation based on the poem ‘In Relig Odhran’ by Neil Gaiman. The characters and world will be designed by illustrator Ellen Barkin Söderholm, then these designs will be turned into paper cutout puppets and sets, ready to be hand animated frame by frame.
The poem is a strange tale, full of brooding atmosphere and metaphysical horror, and we intend to build on that mood, keeping the darkness and sense of philosophical curiosity that are at the core of the story. Everyone on the project is excited to be involved, and we’ve already started preproduction. However, animation – especially stopmotion – is time consuming and expensive. We don’t want to comprise on quality or take years to finish, so to make this short film possible we are going to be turning to kickstarter to raise the funds needed to start production.

It makes me inordinately happy to see the empty white wall’s of my new studio in Bushwick starting to fill up with Ellen’s beautiful art. It’s a special kind of magic, watching our characters find themselves. The iterations of sketches and paint, auditioning an imaginary cast until suddenly it crystallizes and you can point and say THAT is St Columba! and that St Oran! How could they ever look otherwise? - More production updates at http://www.thegraveofsaintoran.com/
He will touch you, he will taste you, he will leave his words inside you - god is not what you imagine, nor is hell, and nor is heaven.
