Welcome to the Peaky Blinders fandom (EDITED)
Peaky Blinders
Peaky Blinders if it was a good show
The problem with this unhinged fandom is that a bunch of people thinks one way and believes it's the ultimate truth. But the people who were a counterbalance to this opinion are gone because the show lost its core (and by that I mean 'good uncliched sequential writing') and now it's deeply unbalanced and anyone who comes to the fandom hears only them. It's like having only one political party and because the other way of thinking is suppressed, exposed to ridicule and considered to be dumb, saying something like "I don't like Lizzie and Tommy together" or "I think that Lizzie is way too smug since s3 and it pisses me off" or "I think Tommy is acting like an asshole" - this is equivalent to treason. Like you're not allowed to speak badly" about Lizzie, but it's okay to put Grace in a trash can and then say that TeamGrace is being too aggressive. DON'T YOU THINK THAT IS QUITE HYPOCRITICAl????!? I'm not taking about Lizzie vs Grace. I don't like to compare women, pit them against each other and reduce them to just our idolised protagonist's love interest. It goes against everything I stand for. But I'm talking about respect for the freedom of others. It's absolutely okay when someone doesn't like Grace, but when it comes to shoving this opinion down my throat and saying "finally someone said they don't like this bitch" AHEM HELLO!!! People say this ALL. THE FUCKING. TIME. Don't pretend it's so hard to find someone who thinks the same way. Thank you for everyone who puts the "anti grace burgess" tag, it really means a lot, guys! Just always remember that your freedom ends where my nose begins. Let's be kind!
God my hatred for Lizzie has no boundaries...why is no one talking about how the whole vendetta situation and what preceded (Grace's death included) came about because of her???
Don't get me wrong, I'm not a Grace lover either. Her character was quite dull and the only one who was remotely trying to create some sort of chemistry between those two characters was Cillian with his brilliant acting skills.
Nonetheless, it surprises me how much the fandom actually adores Lizzie (no hate to any of the actors, please, let's just have a peaceful discussion)
I'm sorry that I've been sitting on this ask for so long, anon! I've just been trying to get my thoughts in order regarding this and decide how I want to approach discussions about Lizzie on this blog.
For those who don't know: I do not like Lizzie. I am happy to go more in depth on some of my feelings/opinions on her (so long as you ask in a respectful way) and I have avoided discussing her very much on here because as I've mentioned in other posts, I don't like raining on other people's parades. But at the same time I feel like I should be able to state and be honest regarding my opinions of her, you know?
I know that I have many mutuals and followers who are big fans of Lizzie's. And I get that a pretty massive faction of the fandom utterly adores her, so I'm just gonna say this before we jump in here: great for you guys! I'm glad you've found a character you like/can connect with. These posts are not gonna be for you, and I gently recommend you just keep on scrolling.
While I don't agree with jumping onto other people's posts and being an ass, I think making your own posts or answering asks ranting about characters is completely fine. Everyone's going to have different opinions on certain characters and that's great! That being said, I'm not interesting in getting into arguments about this. So if you try to pull any sort of shit in the comments or in my askbox, you're gonna be getting blocked, okay? I feel the way I feel about this character, and it's unlikely any of us are gonna be changing each other's minds about it, and I'm not interested in causing any sort of drama.
Okay, disclaimer over, onto the ask:
I actually don't blame Lizzie for the vendetta. I can see why people do, but I always put most of the fault for that whole shit show onto John for being a jealous dumbass. But I will say that the whole Angel relationship she had going on was just weird. And I mostly blame SK for it, because what the fuck?
I don't buy for one second that Lizzie actually loved Angel. We don't see her upset at all over his death, and if she was in love with him, it seems very out of character for her to just be cool with Tommy to the point of sleeping with him again after he ordered his death. And we don't see any evidence that she was upset over having the break up with him either--another reason why I don't blame her that much; as soon as it became a big issue she tried to help fix it in a manner that would cause the least amount of destruction possible.
It always came across to me that her seeing Angel was a last ditch attempt to make Tommy jealous prior to his wedding. An idiotic move? I mean, yeah, probably. But I don't hold her responsible for John throwing an utter bitch fit multiple times and attacking Angel when the problem was already almost solved.
the biggest tragedy of pb was Annabelle Wallace’s nose job
like if it was a medical issue ok but like her nose was so pretty, it made her face interesting.
maybe that’s why I like Lizzie so much lol, Natasha’s face is so beautiful with her bird-like features
The biggest tragedy of the series is similar posts demonstrating the narrow-mindedness and tactlessness of his fans.
A little over a year in the fandom, but I already realized that everything in Grace is criticized: actions and deeds, character, behavior, way of thinking, the appearance of the heroine herself, her manners, clothes, hairstyle and even her "breathing". Annabelle herself, her playing style, and vocal abilities are also criticized. Now the "honorable" mention went to her nose. What's next?
It doesn't matter if it was a medical problem, or another reason why Annabelle changed the shape of her nose, it's her body, and she decides what to do with it. And it has nothing to do with the character she played. In general, it is rude and incorrect to discuss someone's appearance, not to mention that this is not the smartest way to express sympathy for one person while belittling another.
Annabelle is a very beautiful woman, whether with or without plastic surgery. All the actresses in this series are very attractive, each is interesting and beautiful in her own way. Although, of course, if desired, flaws can be found in anyone, but writing about it in order to earn approval in a public forum is somehow petty and just stupid.
Did you read my tags? I’m not looking to start anything. I am an artist who enjoys drawing fun noses and in a rewatch I noticed her nose was different, and in an off hand comment i said “oh man i miss her old nose”. No harm no foul. I like Grace, and I thought her character was good and had potential but she was killed off. Wallis’ performance was well done. I had just commented as an artist I missed her old nose, and that regardless of it was PS or medical oh well I’m not her??? It’s not the biggest issue. Maybe you need to take some time and realize that this is just a show and not a lifestyle where you need to defend some one you don’t know from something they’ll likely never see.
"The biggest tragedy of pb was Annabelle Wallace’s nose job" is not like a simple "off hand comment". And it is usually enough to read the text of the post to catch its main idea.
Maybe you need to take some time and realize that even if it's just a show, sometimes it's useful to think that some things are better to keep to yourself, whether you're an artist, a sculptor, or a poet. Especially when it comes to real people, and it doesn't matter even if they never see it.
i HATE steven knight
that was seriously so unnecessary
hi, my name is jessie eden and – despite being an actual historical figure who was a working class revolutionary and not, in fact, a boy-crazy ditz – my brain falls completely out of my vagina whenever a pretty boy looks at me because steven knight is an unimaginative wanker
peaky fandom: omg,,,,, lizzie won the totally unnecessary and stupidly misogynistic cat fight,, i love this ending ;))))p
me: vomits up blood
I find the huge parallels between tommygrace and tommyalfie fascinating and terrifying.
Sometimes I like to imagine that SK wasn't a lazy piece of shit and that he did justice to the enormous potential Grace had, letting her live and meet Alfie. Fuck, we would have seen Tommy have a bi panic and, subsequently, one of the best OT3.
Tommy & Grace - Peaky Blinders 1x03
I chose to be happy 💋
The movie ends with Tommy happy with Alfie. He can't be with Grace, so Alfie it is.
Or Tommy meeting Grace on the other side-... no, wait. I forgot that a lot of people were upset about this too 🤣
I chose to be happy 💋
Damn, I kinda ... don't care.jpg
me when there is another tommygrace vs tommylizzie argument 🥳:
Thomas and his love for Grace
Intimacy is not just about sex. It's having heart-to-hearts, staying up all night talking, sharing childhood memories, thoughts, fears, dreams & hopes for the future. It's uncontrollable laughter, direct eye contact and feeling each other without touching - it's exchanging energy
