“One day they may learn. But I doubt it,” Rhona said with a knowing smile. She knew that putting any teenagers and/or young adults into one place for any length of time would lead to competitions and rivalries. Here they had the added bonus of having sometimes deadly powers. At any rate, the school was never boring. Which some may consider a plus.

“I wonder if that is actually a power...” Rhona mused, mostly to herself. “I suppose there are more unbelievable ones than that floating around. All of them are wonderful, though!” She truly believed there was a beauty to all the many different abilities she had seen in her time here and amongst other mutants, and she had seen everything from the most mellow to the most powerful. “Here we are!” she said. “What you are looking for should be around here.”

“We do have one, yes. But it’s often out of date due to many books coming and a lot being the victims of mishaps, usually during training sessions. We can give it a try, though?” Rhona offered, a slightly apologetic smile on her face as she gestured towards a computer with a “for research only” sign on it. The sign, as well as several internet blocks, were an unfortunate necessity after a student was caught doing things they shouldn’t on it.

“If it is part of your standard curriculum, then we definitely do have it. If it’s extra, I can’t guarantee, but I may have it anyway,” she responds, leaving the shelf she had been sorting to escort the younger woman towards the appropriate section. “If we do it will be around here. Do you recall the author’s name?”

“Things are fine!” the librarian returned, looking up from the book she was looking through. “How are things outside this little haven? I thought I heard a scuffle earlier? Didn’t sound too good.” She had poked her head out the library door, but the sound had been far off and there had been people waiting to talk with her at the time.

Rhona smiled, there would be very few subjects she wouldn’t have books for so long as she was in charge of the library. “Yes we do, they should be next to the paranormal activity section, in the shelf behind sciences. We should have a good quantity, it’s a rather fascinating subject.” She herself would read as many books on as many different topics as possible. “let me know if you need help finding them, okay?”

“We should have a few things on the subject. Follow me. I know where they should be. No guarantees they were put back properly by their last user. I found a cookbook in with the mechanic books yesterday.” She began walking off towards the section set aside for powers, a rather large one with several different essays and medical papers on abilities from telekinesis to metamorphosing and everything in between.

Caden was a common sight around the library and always a welcome addition, in Rhona’s mind. “We got a new shipment of books in yesterday,” the silver-eyed woman said, sliding off her chair to pull up a box of new books. Well, new to them. Some of them were rather antique. “I haven’t unpacked them yet, you are free to have first dibs, if you’d like!”

Rhona had always found comfort among shelves of books. An object full of bolder places, big adventures, perfect romances and deepest heartbreaks. Cliche, maybe. But she was not one to care. “Hello! Is there a book in particular you are looking for, or just browsing?” she asked as someone entered the library.

//: GEMMA CHAN, 32, cis female, she-her //: RHONA LI is hard at work in the halls of Xavier’s Institute for Higher Learning. the LIBRARIAN has been at the school for TWO YEARS and has earned a reputation for being KIND and FUSSY. what else could you expect from someone with GRAVITY MANIPULATION? only time will tell if they join the revolution.

i. how did your character end up at xavier’s?

Hair blacker than a raven’s like the rest of them, but eyes a molten silver, her family always knew what she was. They never treated her differently from their other daughter, Rhona’s older sister Greer. The Scottish town of her birth had no animosity towards mutants so it wasn’t until she was twelve and he parents moved the family to an anti-mutant town in America for her mother to pursue a job that they began worrying. Rhona’s ability to throw a frisbee further, toss a ball higher, and even seemingly float to the ground from high places, as if gravity didn’t matter around her,, in ways no normal human could, began to draw unwanted attention. Desperate to keep their daughter safe, they sent her off to live with a tutor, one who could care for the girl and her unique needs. She always stayed in touch with her family but as she grew she wanted to return the favour given her and applied at Xavier's.

ii. how does your character’s mutation affect their life? their relationships?

It has caused a bit of estrangement between her and her family, but no animosity. Her romantic pursuits are few and far between, but as of yet, her mutation hasn’t seemed to be a problem. More her habit of attracting people with negative energy. As for jobs, she can usually manage to not let any employers or co-workers know what she is by utilizing coloured contacts.

iii. tell us about something that impacted your character in a major way.

When she was sent away from her family, it was really the first time she knew she was any different from anyone else and the first time out of many she would know what being a mutant meant in this world.
