if you don't gerard slay get out of the gerard way
Thursday release their first song in over a decade. Will this be a comeback for the New Jersey Post-Hardcore band?
After 25 years of legal disputes Thursday are finally free to “Turn this band into whatever we dream it to be” says the band over on Twitter, and their first step in this new journey is releasing their new single ‘Application For Release From The Dream’ - their first release in since ‘Summer Tour ‘99’ without a record label - and it’s clear that they’re not stopping there. With upcoming shows across the US and Europe, and the excitement expressed over on Instagram and Twitter for this new release, I’m sure we’ll be hearing more from them in the future.
The song debuted at their show in Albany last night (April 11th), where a 7” vinyl of the song was also for sale at the merch table, before being able to stream on all streaming platforms at midnight local time, and fans are going crazy for it. Following their previous release ‘No Devolución’, we can see how Thursday are once again exploring new sounds and directions, with their new release, as evident by frontman Geoff Rickly who described this new freedom era as “Our DIY collective era”. He also goes on to say how he feels that the band is “Underground again, with the freedom that comes from the hardcore scene we grew up in.”. They have also recruited a new guitarist Norman Brannon, formally of Texas Is The Reason, who was also previously a touring member for the band, and he is smashing it.
Thursday, have once again depicted a heart-shattering, life changing story through their lyricism, something we see a lot of from this band. According to Rickly “‘Application For Release From The Dream’ is a meditation on mortality and the seamlessly endless cycle of death and rebirth that we all pass through so many times, even in just one lifetime. It’s also a plea to stay in the living world, even when things are painful.”, and from the lyrics we can see how the song tells a story possibly about a painful time in life where the only solution seems to be death, and then realising that you still have life ahead of you and this is just a moment in it, and that death isn’t the solution.
‘Application For Release From The Dream’ now available to stream on all platforms.
and with that the mcr tour is over , so let's have a moment for those songs that weren't played
Revenge Blanket Grid Pattern
This is a grid pattern and some notes from me, but I will not be teaching you how to do any of it as such. This grid can be used in crochet or knitting, but I have only provided instructions for crochet.
To complete this project you will have to be able to do the following:
Chain stitch
Double Crochet (UK) (US Single)
Turning chain
Make a tension square
Seamless colour change in the middle of a row
Seamless colour change at the beginning/end of a row
Work from a grid pattern
I have made this pattern free but if you do use it I would love it if you would give me a tip on my ko-fi so I can make more patterns in the future! Please also give me a follow and check out my shop :)
straight hair toro - a short rikey fic
"Please Toro! Just once, pleaseeee!" Mikey begs.
"No! I'm not letting you straighten my hair! It'll look terrible!" Ray grabs Mikey's arms, pushing him away. Mikey, one hand round the hair straightners, the other hand round Ray's wrist, attempts to break free from his grip, but fails.
"Please Ray! It won't hurt I promise to be carful!" Mikey whines, collapsing on the sofa in their tour bus.
"Mikey i've said no! Plus you always complain about burning yourself when you straighten your own hair!" Ray says, sitting down next to Mikey.
"Yeh but i'll be careful with you!" Mikey begs, turning to face Ray.
"What are you two arguing about now!" Gerard moans as he stumbles out of the bedroom area of the bus.
"You're annoying brother wants to straighten my hair!" Ray sees Mikey out the corner of his eye grabbing the hair straighteners.
"Come on Gee don't you agree with me that it'll be funny!" Gerard smirks, making Mikey laugh. Gerard goes back into the bedroom area of the tour bus to continue getting ready as Mikey turns to face Ray and leaps onto him trying to push him over. Ray gives in and falls onto his back letting Mikey climb on top him.
"Mikey I hate you." Ray says as he allows Mikey to grab a chunk of his hair and straighten it.
YOU. i found you. there’s no escape.

me when i’m dribking juice: this is fuckign deliciou s!
(i’m aslo killing.)
it’s fine they didn’t get a nom. like what were they going to do with a grammy? put frank in it?
my chemical romance 21 years running grammy unnominated!!!
Actually kinda glad mcr didn't get nominated cause if they did then I'd have to force myself to watch the grammys
I’m so fucking sick of people calling Ray the “normal” one in mcr. He’s so far from normal. Not only is he just as weird and strange as the others, but he may actually be worse, he’s the definition of balls to the wall. Like, do you know the type of person you have to be to be best friends with Gerard Way for over two decades? And to know them so well its like you’re an extension of their creative process? To be able to make those weird little dream in his head a reality? Do you know how absolutely off kilter your brain has to be? Ray wrote the instrumentation for the Breakfast Monkey pilot. He loves wrestling so much, there’s a decent chance you can watch an old WWE match and see him in the crowd losing his mind. He used to carry a little spider man action figure in his pocket all the time. He learned how to play guitar by ear, by listening to his favorites and then mashing the lead and rhythm guitar parts together, that’s why he plays Like That now. He has a degree in film, and wrote and filmed a short where a guy is obsessed with eggs and goes insane when he can’t open the last one in his dozen. He wrote mama on a dare. A dare. Like, hello!?!?!
ok ok ok it’s like. they don’t NEED it we know they don’t need it and it’s never been what they’ve strived for and it’s never been the point of it all for them. and they’ve always been on the outside they’ve always been polarize irritate contaminate it’s on purpose and it’s part of what makes them so special
HOWEVER. it would’ve been nice to see them get some recognition from the wider music industry as a whole. bc they are one of the greatest rock bands of our time. and as of right now it really feels like outside of the dedicated fans most people still view them with the bs emo nostalgia wwwy type lens. so it would’ve been nice to see some acknowledgment of them as artists
anyway i’m fighting the grammys with my bare hands
