The Story of the City People: Part 2: Biology
The biology of City People is somewhat different from that of regular humans. Many biological aspects are influenced by their respective cities. These biological aspects include the way they age and grow, their mental and physical health, and on some occasions, their appearance.
Growth and Aging
A City Person’s age manifests in two ways: human years and Earth years. Human years are their physical and mental age. Earth years are their age in regular 365-day years. Age eligibility goes on human years (i.e. driving, drinking, working certain professions, etc.). City People’s physical growth is influenced by the growth and changing of their respective cities. The faster a city grows or changes, the faster a City Person ages. Positive city growth (such as population growth or revitalization), results in faster, healthier aging. Negative city growth (i.e. population decline or blight), results in slower, unhealthy aging, and causes mental and physical health problems. Stagnant city growth, with neither positive nor negative changes, will result in slow aging. A City Person will still age even if there is no growth or changes in their city, but the aging process is considerably slower. A City Person’s physical and mental age directly correlate, no matter how old they are in Earth years. Each City Person ages differently, and each individual’s aging process is dependent on how their city grows. For example, City People belonging to bigger cities age differently than City People who belong to smaller towns.
Appearance
Physical features such as hair and eye color, natural hairstyle, body type, facial features, etc. are not determined by their city. However, a few physical attributes are, such as: 1) Race. A City Person is born the race of the person/people who founded their city. However, there have been rare occasions where a City Person is born the race of an influential and/or helpful person/people during the founding and formation of a settlement. 2) Height. If an iconic structure (i.e. Statue of Liberty, St. Louis Arch, Washington Monument), exists in a city, then a City Person will grow taller. Iconic structures include monuments, statues, and skyscrapers.
Health
Physical City People can get illnesses and contract diseases normally like a regular human can. If a City Person is experiencing a traumatic injury or disease, then they will go into a comatose state and will wake up once they’ve healed enough to regain homeostasis.
Mental A City Person's mental health reflects their city's condition. If a city is thriving, then its City Person’s mental health is ideal. If a city is declining, then its City Person’s mental health will be poor; the City Person may develop depression, anxiety, or an addiction disorder.
Note: Just like regular humans, City People can be born with permanent physical and mental health ailments.
Death A City Person can only die if their city dissolves completely. This could mean the dissolving of a government, merging with another city, or the presence of a catastrophic event. If a city is reestablished after a City Person dies, a new City Person will be born and take their successor’s place.
The Story of the City People: Part 1: Introduction
City People are people who are born or come to form when a settlement is established. They live and grow alongside their respective settlements and reflect their condition, trades, and culture, while also having their personalized side. No one knows why or how these City People come to be, it’s a mystery that’s unknown to both researchers and the City People themselves.
In this story world where City People exist, so do State, County, and Country People. However, this writing project will mainly focus on cities.
Over these story-building posts, I’ll go over different aspects of the City People, how they differ from regular humans, how their city affects them, how they may experience life, and more. Keep in mind these will get updated as I continue to work on and build this project over time.

Personality
Louis is an ambivert, whether or not he prefers to spend time with people or spending time alone may depend on the situation. Usually when he feels like spending time with or around people is when he is attending sports events, going to a bar or gambling boat, and when going to see live shows in the area, showing his playful side, but he may opt to go alone in some cases. When he prefers to spend time alone, he may be working or working on an art or music project. This is mostly in part to his independent and stubborn personality. He doesn’t like help when he is at work and prefers to work alone, he may only accept feedback when he asks for it. Although Louis is a quick learner and he adapts well to new things, his stubborn nature can prevent him from adapting to new things quickly, as he may prefer to do things or think in a way that is outdated. For example, he may still use technology that is obsolete for everyday use, as a landline telephone for personal use in the present day, with cellular devices as the new norm or a typewriter after computers became the new standard. Once he gets past his initial unyielding mindset to adapt to new things, he adjusts well. However, he is very slowly moving away from this stubbornness and is growing more curiosity towards modern and future technology and mindsets.
Hobbies and Professions
Louis presently works as a self-employed architect, using his experience as a former construction worker and his creative mind to excel in his field. Before he worked in architecture, at his first job, he worked as a steamboat engineer in the early 1870s to the late 1900s. Afterward, he worked in automobile manufacturing from the early 1910s to the early 1960s. Lastly, from the early 1960s to the late 1990s, he worked in construction. He’s still knowledgeable in his previous professions. Along with being an architect, Louis is also a jazz musician and artist on the side. He plays the saxophone, trumpet, and piano, and he’s been a musician since the early 1900s. His preferred art mediums are pencils and paint, occasionally dabbling in sculpture. He had always enjoyed art, but he began doing art professionally in the mid-70s. Louis is a staunch local sports fan, his favorite being the St. Louis Cardinals. In turn, playing baseball is one of his favorite pastimes, and he is an outstanding baseball player. The St. Louis Blues hockey team is also one of his top favorite sports teams, and he enjoys playing hockey as well. A couple more of Louis’ skills are cooking, and brewing, especially when it comes to local cuisine. He is also rather knowledgeable in natural sciences and history. He is fluent in English, French, German, and Spanish, proficient in Irish, and knows a bit of Italian, Bosnian, Serbian, Arabic, and Greek.
Misc Facts
Some of his favorite foods include pork steaks, barbeque, ice cream, peanut butter, toasted ravioli, candy corn. Some of his favorite drinks include iced tea, alcoholic drinks, 7 Up. Louis owns an orange, long-haired cat named Charles and a blue parakeet named Blue. Louis has dealt with and is currently dealing with many health problems. In the past, Louis has dealt with depression since the 1950s and is still dealing with it today. However, he keeps it well managed today. Because of his depression, he’s also dealt with alcoholism, from around the 1950s to the early 2000s, from which he’s recovered from and he is no longer dependent on alcohol. He still consumes alcohol, but only socially nowadays. Because of his past alcoholism, he has heart and liver problems, which he also keeps well managed. Lasty, he also has lung problems from smoking, which he also quit in the early 2000s. He is recovering from his health problems, slowly but surely, and he works hard to keep everything managed.

GCCP FAQs
Q: May I request an OC? A: You may! However, if I’m in the middle of working on another character, it might have to wait until that character is finished.
Q: How long does it take to write a character? A: Depends. If I’m constantly working, it could take a week or two. But, the first draft of an OC usually takes no longer than a month to complete.
Q: Where can I ask questions? A: My ask box is always open, you can comment questions on the corresponding post, you can message me directly, or message/comment on Instagram
Q: Is this related to Hetalia/CountryHumans/SATW/[other similar media]? A: No, although this project was inspired by Hetalia, I made this project because I was drifting away from Hetalia, but I still wanted to make these kinds of characters. I do not make Hetalia OCs anymore. Don’t get me wrong, Hetalia is funny, and if you like it, it’s all good, no worries. However, because I’m not into Hetalia anymore, but still want to continue to build these characters, I made my own thing.
Q: What about your OCs Louis, Kacey, and Antoine? Are they still associated with Hetalia? A: No, they are no longer Hetalia OCs.

About the Gray’s City Character Project
Welcome to Gray’s City Character Project (or GCCP for short). This is a character creation project, where I create characters based on cities around the world, and sometimes I’ll create a US state character.
This project was started because I had 3 Hetalia OCs, but I started to drift away from Hetalia, but I still love to make these characters, so I decided to start my own project and bring the original three characters here, and make them separate from Hetalia. In this project, I’ll write my own characters with my own lore behind them, starting from scratch.
The purpose of this project to mainly have fun creating characters and making different kinds of content with them. This is also somewhat for personal development, as this project gives me motivation to learn to do different things. As I learn how to do more things, different kinds of content will be added. In the future, you might see stories, drawings, and a few memes here and there. However, I am just one person, so progress might be slow, please bear with me.
Because I’m still learning how to do all of this, feedback and ideas are appreciated. If you see anything that needs to be fixed, please let me know by either commenting or sending me a message.
I hope you enjoy the characters just as much as I enjoy making them!
