I imagine that before Hero was born Lark bought a gun and tried to give it as a baby shower gift. He was then told that no, the baby doesn't need a gun. When Grant mentions that he and Marco are adopting Lincoln, he tries again. Grant also insist that the baby doesn't need a gun, and at any rate he has plenty at home already. When Nick let's everyone know Cassandra's pregnant, once again, the gift box with a gun inside come out. He's more surprised that Nick turns it down, because surely if no one else, he would agree that his baby totally needs a gun. But Glenn laughed until Morgan gave him a light smack on the arm, so that was something. Cue Normal, Lark thinks...okay, I know last time Sparrow didn't think babies need guns, but maybe he's changed his mind. Sparrow had not changed his mind. The gun sits around for over a decade, when finally, finally, Terry gets engaged. Lark hands him the box. "You're getting a step-kid right? Figured they might want this." Terry looks in the box and sighs. "Okay, you're right, she would, but it's because she actively hates me." Lark sighs and tapes the glock under his desk. "Someday they'll need this," he thinks, "and I just have to let them know where to find it."
