Summary:

After the final battle with the Overlord, Lloyd deals with the consequences of overexerting his new power.

Lloyd: When the First Spinjitzu Master escaped their world, they must have come looking for him.

Harumi: Who?

Lloyd: The Oni. He was the key to winning their eternal war with the Dragons.

I think about this moment a lot, actually.

The Oni and the Dragons both believe that the First Spinjitzu Master is the key to winning their eternal war. That's why Mystake went to Ninjago in the first place- to either recruit the FSM, or make sure he wouldn't join the Dragons' side.

And even though the First Spinjitzu Master is gone now, Lloyd inherited his power. Which means, wouldn't the Oni now be after him, instead?

So imagine if instead of shooting icy black clouds everywhere in S10, the Oni were actually on a mission to kidnap and corrupt Lloyd?

This feeds into my theory that Mystake was the FSM’s wife. She’s very familiar with Wu and Garmadon and is fond of Lloyd. She is also seen in that one scene where they banish the Anacondrai all those ages ago.

Plus, Lloyd’s Oni manifests more than his Dragon and this would be because his biological makeup actually is more Oni.

(And Mystake being on a recruiting mission for the FSM kinda points to enemies to lovers)

I'm just starting to learn animation. Here's a little headturn practice (definitely didn't take hours of work).

There was a time (about halfway through the process), when I thought this was the ugliest thing I had ever drawn. Not true, I've definitely done worse, and once I colored it, it wasn't so bad.

Hot take: Lloyd is actually an EXCELLENT lier, manipulator, actor, and incredibly smooth and quick-witted, he just choses not to be. I know that in cannon he’s supposedly really bad at acting but I can’t see that as being true, solely bc of his genealogy. He’s part Oni. Oni, who are known for being shape shifting trickster demons. They lie, they manipulate they act as the different things or people that they shift into, they have to be quick-witted to get away with things, they have to be smooth to be able to tick you so it seems more like a good thing to you than bad. Also, Lloyd went to a school that 110% had a lying class, a school that you had to know how to lie to thrive in. So, here me out, what if Lloyd always comes off as a bad lier/actor bc it makes him uncomfortable and he feels like he’s dipping too deeply into his Oni side when he does and that he prides himself on being an honest person. He didn’t like to lie or act bc he doesn’t want to seem untrustworthy for his ability too. He doesn’t want people to associate him with the ever changing never trustworthy Lord Garmadon or be seen as an evil Oni. 

This paves way for a situation where maybe the younger ninja got captured and the OG’s are interrogating a villain. Maybe the villain refuses to say and Lloyd steps in and suddenly he’s twisting all the words of the villain, lying about literally everything but saying it likes it the truth, he’s so smooth with his words it’s not even funny, every single comment is shot down with a perfectly executed comeback, suddenly the villain is manipulated into thinking things that just aren’t true but they believe to be. The ninja leave with way more information than what they thought they would have an a very terrified bad guy in chains. That’s when the ninja suddenly remember that their Green Bean is part Oni and that if they didn’t know any better, they would have believed everything that Lloyd said because it seemed like the truth.
