No. 9 was the studio of renowned British photographer Gered Mankowitz who, on March 9th 1967, photographed Jimi Hendrix in the building. On that day Mankowitz took the portrait that would become the most important photograph of his entire career and possibly the most famous studio portrait of Hendrix ever taken, ‘Classic Jimi’. Our Garden House features a double height space and mezzanine around the staircase. Within the double height void are five @busterandpunch lights each hung at a different height to fill the first floor gallery, the entrance hall below, the stair and the double height void itself with a warm light. The double height space is also designed to accommodate a wheelchair lift in should it be required in future. Our contemporary country house in Hampshire is designed to connect the occupants with the landscaped gardens, wildflower meadows beyond tree lined boundaries from all living spaces, the entrance and the mezzanine thought the seasons for an indoor-outdoor feel.
