run away!;

Route 4 wasn’t good for much. Sure, there was an actual road on it now and the sandstorm had up and left, but it was hot. Though Kip dressed as minimally as he could without getting sunburn, sweat rolled down his back and beaded on his upper lip. Man, it felt like an oven. Sitting on a large Arcanine who still donned a winter coat didn’t help either, but Percy hardly appeared to mind.
“I hate this heat,” he muttered, a forearm wiping perspiration off his face. He wanted to turn back for Nimbasa City but had greater reason to be here: the Relic Castle. “Let’s go!” he hooted and they ran off, Percy’s paws thudding on the pavement.
It didn’t take long to arrive there. Kip slid off and patted Percy’s head, throwing a small treat up into the air. It arced for a moment and then went to land in his snapping jaws. Tourists were non-existent today, rattled by the high temperature. Good. It would be nice and quiet, the way he liked. There wasn’t much thinking needed to navigate the castle, already familiar with the passages. However, he had forgotten how easy it was to disturb wild Pokemon as he ran ahead of Percy. Kip suddenly yelped and sprinted back in terror. He’d awoken a rather angry swarm of Yamask and Cofagrigus.
With expert skill he jumped on Percy’s back. The two approached the exit of the castle at a breakneck speed, hardly faltering when someone came into view. “Get outta here! There’s lots of mad Pokemon comin’ for ya!” Kip yelled as he flew past, hoping they too were able to escape.
A shaky laugh left him as he and Percy stopped seconds after escaping, bright eyes staring intently at the doorway. They were coming out… weren’t they? Oh, there they were!
Finally some heat was back after that blizzard. Unova’s climate was so temperamental, Nora was certain she would get a cold from all this unpredictable weather.
Regardless, she was finally back on schedule with her training. She stopped by the local thrift shop for some new workout gear. She stumbled upon a vintage addidas shirt and some daggy grey short shorts. Nora could make it work. She got Dime to snip the bottom half of the shirt to make a crop top and rolled up the bottoms of the shorts hide the frayed bottom. Nora redressed behind the Pokemon Center before hiding her bag in a bush and taking off for a jog around the area.
Mankey in tow and Aerodactyl flying high overhead, Nora only stopped to take a breather when she saw an overdressed boy atop an Arcarnine barreling towards her.
“ Huh-- ah!! “
Nora stumbled back so she wasn’t taken out by the pair, yelling after the boy with a squint, “ WHAT DID YOU SA-- “
She turned around at the last minute to see a morgue of ghost Pokemon pour out of a nearby Castle. Idiot boy must have disturbed the Pokemon in there!
Nickel yelped in fear, immediately turning on his heel and breaking for it in he opposite direction. Nora’s lids halved in disappointment, rolling up her invisible sleeves.
“ ALRIGHT IT’S JUST YOU AND ME, ZIP. “
Nora lowered into a defensive stance as the Pokemon got closer. She closed her fist and punched the first Yamask that got near her in its metal belly-plate. A pained grunt stuck in her throat as she punched another one. The bastards are surprisingly hard!
A prehistoric screech thundered from above and the Aerodactyl swooped magic boulders of Ancient Power landsliding across the entrance to the Castle, taking out at least a dozen Yamask and three Cofagrigus.
“ YEAH! NICE ONE ZIP! “ Nora cheered before feeling the cold, dead hands of a Cofagrigus around her neck. She brought back a sharp elbow to the Pokemon’s eye which caused it to loosen its grip and she wiggled her way out. Idiot kid was still over there on his Arcanine. “ HEY, YOU GONNA HELP OR SOMETHING? THIS IS YOUR FAULT RIGHT? “

When was the last time he’d bothered to take a cigarette break outside of the lab willingly? He honestly couldn’t remember. Usually the Professor had no qualms with lighting one up as he sat behind his desk, but since he now seemed to have no less than four pokémon following him around like a mother Swanna at all times these days, he figured a change in habit was about due. As much as Noah liked to seek relief in the form of nicotine, it was a little unfair to surround the newly-hatched creatures with a cloud of smog indoors.
Labcoat left behind, Noah had started with a brief stroll around Striaton. If he was making an effort to go outside, might as well find somewhere better to take a break than lingering around the laboratory doors, right? Though his little walk had soon come to a grinding halt, as the Professor realized something fairly important.
The labcoat that was back in his office still had his lighter stashed away in it’s pockets. Shit. Groaning quietly to himself, Noah pat down the pockets of his outfit in a vain attempt to find a spare, but as expected, there was nothing. Belle, his Eevee – who was being used as a perch by his young Chatot – stared up with a look of concern at her trainer’s sudden shift in mood.
Great. Time to waste more of his breaktime and go back inside to fetch it. Or at least he would, if a young woman hadn’t approached with the offering of her own lighter’s flame, causing the Professor to sigh quietly with relief.
“What are you, some kind of guardian angel or something?” He jested, while managing to keep a look of total seriousness as he stepped forwards, placing the cigarette between his lips before leaning forwards to the flame in order to light it.
Inhaling deeply, Noah plucked the cigarette from his lips once more, letting the cloud of smoke fall from his mouth before he introduced himself.
“You found him. Professor Hemlock, pleased to meet you.”
“ I’ve been called many things; guardian angel is a new one, “ she grinned, holding the zippo aflame for the other before bringing her own cigarette to the light.
Nora’s cool facade fell away as the man introduced himself as Hemlock and she breathed in too much smoke in shock. She ducked her head to the side to couch behind her forearm. “ Really?! “ she asked.
Zip rolled her eyes and sat back on the pavement causing a small tremor. The Aerodactyl was right as always.
Stifling the urge to make a disapproving face, Nora flicked the ash away and held a hand out to shake. “ I’m Nora Prieto, I haven’t been in Unova too long but I was told to come talk to a Professor because they could give me a PokeDex and apparently that’s a good tool because I want to beat the Unovan Champion and I actually don’t know that much about Unovan Pokemon I only know about Unova’s culture. “ she took a breath, “ I read about it before I left but, yeah, you need to help me Prof. because I’m going to be real with you, I have no fucking idea what I’m doing. “

Shopping was perfect in weather like this. No one was out and about taking his products! His shop, on the other hand, was absolutely packed to the brim. It was unfortunate, because he’d have to resupply all the toys on the shelves due to the amount of babies and playful adults that had to be housed there for the time being. His ranch was covered in snow, so it was unsafe for them.
Luckily, despite the weather, some shops were still open. Particularly the ones that sold all the food he needed for his Pokemon. His hands were filled. Perhaps that was a bad decision, as it’d slow him down. But there were still some pretty good deals. As no one could get out to actually buy anything, they lowered the prices for him, causing Osvaldo to buy more.
Packed down with a scarf and heavy coat, the full-armed male trudged through the snow, heading back to his shop/home. Well, that was until he’d heard someone calling out for him. Or, at least, he assumed they were calling for him.
What someone was doing out in this weather was beyond him. Unless they were like him in the aspect of wanting a good deal. But, they were headed his way. It wasn’t until he heard what the female was saying that he actually reacted.
“Oh dear,” He spoke, setting his groceries on the ground. “Here, I’ll take him. My ranch is just outside the town. If you could grab my groceries, I’ll do my best to get him better.” Perhaps he should have clarified that he was a breeder. Either way. “Or just follow me, it’s not too far away.”
Nora was taken aback by the kindness of this stranger. They barely even took a moment to find out who she was before Nickel was scooped out of her arms. She was told to take the groceries and the rookie glanced down at the bags. After a hesitant blink, a grin spread on her expression.
Lifting heavy things. Finally she was given a task she could excel at.
Nora picked up the bags easily in both hands and glanced up with a grin to see the boy had already walked a hundred yards back in the direction of his ranch. “ Ah! ” She picked up her feet and double timed to his flank, keeping up with his pace while watching her Mankey, concerned lines creasing her forehead.
“ Do you know what’s happening? Have you seen anything like this before? ” She paused before adding, “ I’m Nora, by the way. ”

NICE PLACE. Pretty fancy, too. Paved roads and sidewalks– Er, sidewalks looked to be made outta brick ? Still was pretty damn nice if someone asked him. Also pretty fucking busy– Why the HELL were so many people around here, huh ? And where the hell could he find a place to eat that wasn’t packed ? How… Annoying. Iggy was pretty much just wandering about the area, sticking his head into any restaurant that he came across– Why was it so damn hard to find a place to eat ? It really shouldn’t of– What the hell was on his back. Something was fucking attached to his back and it wasn’t Shylock, as the Sableye was MUCH heavier than whatever was clinging onto his coat. A brief look over his shoulder confirms that it wasn’t Shylock, and instead a… A Dwebble ? Iggy stares at it, his expression first annoyance, followed by disinterest, then even to looking somewhat disturbed. He tries shaking it off, but the little crab holds tight– Even until the point that the Gym leader looks.. Like a complete and utter fool. The sound of someone calling to him makes the man pause his motions ( in a rather awkward position ! ), head tilting over towards the source of the noise. Some chick. ❝ This– This little shi-- This thing is yours ?! Can you be a pal and get it OFF ? ❞
Oh god, Dime was really on there. Letting her unpredictable Dwebble out of his ball was a terrible mistake and she should have known better. The little crab didn’t have a good track record of not initiating fights with people when it was out... and grabbing onto people’s backsides apparently.
“ Hey, watch the attitude, “ Nora said incredulously to the pinch victim with a scowl, “ Or I’ll leave him on there. “
Pushing her sunglasses onto her head, Nora leant down to get a closer look at the situation. She thought she remembered one of the Nurses at the Pokemon Center that if you pinch just here...
Before Nora could test her theory, someone bumped past her in the busy causeway and she was thrust forward, headbutting the man’s hip. The rookie stumbled back, hands to her forehead. Dime still being attached to this person’s ass was now furthest thing from her mind.
“ YOU RIGHT THERE? “ she yelled into the crowd, staunching over to the old woman who bumped her, “ Yes, I’m talking to you! Don’t hobble away from me! Yes, YOU. DO YOU NEED ME TO YELL, IS THAT IT? WANT ME TO PUNCH THE HEARING BACK INTO YOU, JUST TEST ME, GRANDMA. “
❝Finally, a new year!❞ Payton stretched her arms upwards, placing her hands on her hips. ❝Now I gotta fulfill my resolution!❞ Her resolution is to not be so nervous around people.
She started walking down the street and realized something.
❝..Wait.. it’s January…❞ She facepalmed ❝I’m getting old…❞
" I-I'm not Plasma, I swear to Giratina! " The frightened yells of a young male emitted from somewhere nearby, followed by a more feminine grunt.
" Oh yeah? Then what's with your clothes, huh? You look suspicious. Last time one of you lot came into contact with me, you poisoned my Mankey! One can only assume what you're going to do to others who can't defend themselves! " Nora heard a voice and swung around, staring at a pale haired stranger for a moment before she was clobbered over the head by a branch. She held her hands over her head and watched as the boy swearing he was not Plasma tripped over himself into the bushes and disappeared. " Bastard, " Nora grumbled to herself, rubbing her skull. He got her good too. She shouldn't have taken her eyes off him. Glancing up, she gave a hard look to the stranger. " What? "

“Might be,” he snickered at the ridiculous thought. Gabe stared down at the camera, turning it in his hands. He shrugged; though it was an elaborate and rather expensive device, he didn’t think much of it anymore. “It’s for work. Ruins are what I came to explore today.”
Whoever this woman was, he already found her far too boisterous. To avoid conversation he flicked through the images on it, pretending to be invested in the camera. The roll was currently filled with invaluable pictures of artefacts, documents and places ( along with several blurry ones where Aimé had decided to make himself the main subject, getting in the way ). When she squatted in front of him to peer at the camera, he ignored the biting urge to step back and distance himself.
Aimé, however, seemed to be over the moon around their new company. The Sableye neared and began to fiddle with the frayed ends of her shirt, tugging and stretching the material. One strand had almost ended up being chewed. Gabe cleared his throat and the Pokemon stepped back, waiting behind him. His pointer finger held down on a button and it emitted a small beep.
“Guess I can take a photo with you,” he forced a wry smile. “I’m not Unovan, but I can’t deny you the pleasure of a selfie.” Gabe felt silly when he raised the camera and turned it around, the lens facing him. If only his current expression didn’t cause him to look so uncomfortable. “Say ‘cheese’”.
If the boy was irritated by Nora’s presence, the realisation flew right over her head. Nora knew she wasn’t the most intelligent, nor had the best perception in social situations. All she knew is that once someone raises their fists at her is when she gained the upper hand. The boy’s Pokemon- it was purple with gems for eyes, she’d never seen anything like it before- found an interest with her top and Nora couldn’t be more pleased. She’d thrifted it for a mere 400P back in Kalos and it was one of her most flattering pieces. Who didn’t love a little belly button, after all? Before she could reach down and hug the Pokemon, it was called back to its trainers side. Nora failed to hide the disappointment on her face. A feeling that was soon forgotten when he agreed to take a selfie with her. Nora boldly moved to pick up the Pokemon, hoping to hold it in shot of the camera lens if it let her. She cosied next to the boy and grinned wildly. “ Souriez! “
c l i c k ! “ That was great! “ she exclaimed happily, letting the Pokemon go (but silently debating whether to run off with the adorable little thing). As an afterthought, she added, “ I’m Nora, by the way. Who are you? What work do you do that makes you have to come all the way out to snap some old rocks? “

Nora’s trip from Castelia to Striaton had already hit a snag. After an unusually hot Unovan summer, a dangerous blizzard was forecast, leaving the girl and her team to travel on foot. She kept Nickel out for company, battling any weak looking trainers on the way. They ran into some trouble when a strange looking trainer dressed in a uniform with a black, white and blue ‘P’ emblem offered them berries, telling them how it would keep them warm in the falling temperature. Not recognising the berries, Nora could only assume they were Unova natives and foolishly accepted, feeding some to Nickel. The Mankey quickly became sluggish and that’s when the grunt attempted to strike. Nora and her Aerodactyl took out the perpetrator’s Pokemon extremely easily before the trainer gave the grunt a few punches of her own. Nursing bloody knuckles, Nora slung Nickel over her back and broke into a jog towards the nearest town. Entering Nimbasa City, Nora frantically looked around for someone, anyone but the streets were scarce as snow continued to cover the ground. Finally, she spotted a short dark-haired man. Hoisting the limp Nickel up her back, Nora called out to the person before crunching through the snow to them.
“ You need to help me, “ she pleaded between pants, “ Something’s happened to my Mankey. I think he’s poisoned, I gave him all the last of my antidotes but he’s still sick. Please! “
Thank every deity out there that Arceus seemed to take the form of this beauty (with reflex skills faster than light itself) in the split second it took for the other to catch the egg, Alexine’s jaw had almost hit the ground developing an express that was both shocked and ecstatic.
“Holy– THAT WAS AMAZING!” bringing the other into a bear hug from excitement and relief that her egg was safe, but not tightening said hug in fear for her baby’s safety. Still, she hoped her actions spoke louder than her words.
Releasing the woman from her embrace and then hearing the stuttering of her name, a cheshire grin became plastered across her expression as a hand rested against her hip in an attempt to strike a cool pose.
“That’s me. The one and only! How do you know my name? Battling or the sweet tunes I produce–” about to go into full audio auto-biography about her band before stopping dead in her tracks, the least she could was other this girl a chance to give her name to the champ. Taking the egg back from her and clutching it against her chest like a newborn baby, patting is as she spoke.
“Thanks so much, you literally saved a life there! Rest in pieces my Crepe, but you saved this lil’ dude! I owe you one, anything, you name it I’ll do it!–” Alexine was a woman to her word, anything this lady needed now, she would do everything within her power to grant.
“But before I become your Fairy Godmother, do you have a name to go with that pretty face?”
Nora was taken aback. “ It was? “ Her circle of friends in Kalos could only be described as ‘rough’ and she usually found herself on the more inexperienced side. There was always someone quicker, someone stronger, someone more intelligent. Her mother didn’t like her rough-housing after work and her sister was too much of a prude to understand (not that she actually cared what her sister thought). “ I suppose it was a lucky catch, “ Nora cleared her throat, holding the egg out for the Alexine (the Unovan Champion) to take. “ I’m, uh, Nora, “ she glanced awkwardly to the side, “ I’ve been studying the Unovan League challenge for a few years now. I’d be surprised if someone didn’t know who you were. “ A favour... An IOU from the Champ... Opportunist blood ran in the Prieto line.
“ Can you have a look at my Pokemon? Give me some tips on how I should train them; point me in the right direction? Unova is a giant place and I feel lost on the best of days here. “ Nora scratched the back of her neck thoughtfully, “ Ultimately, my goal is... to defeat you so.. who better to offer advice on to beat you than.. you. “

An Aerodactyl passed over the skies of Striaton City five times before Nora was certain it was the correct town they were looking for. Zip landed gratefully and trudged behind the exploring Nora, glancing around at the eyes who thought it peculiar for a giant pterodactyl to follow her trainer around like a faithful Lillipup. " Where is this guy, anyway? " Nora sighed, digging in her pocket for an crumpled packet of Lucky Strikes. There was one sorry looking slightly bent cigarette left and she placed it on her lip, scrounging around for her lighter. Zip grumbled back with her scratchy voice, half distracted to pick up a flowering weed from someone’s front yard and stuck it behind her horn. For aesthetics, one could guess. " “Try the laboratory”. Thank you Zip, I’m glad you’re filling in as Watson in the mysterious case of finding Professor Hemlock, " Nora echoed sarcastically. Zip rolled her eyed and snorted, dust expelling from her nostrils. They passed a large sterile building with an older man out the front who frankly looked a bit lost.
Nora sidestepped a little closer to the pale-haired stranger, spotting a cigarette also balanced on their lip. With a crackle, she opened the cap of her zippo. " Need a light? Also do you know where I can find a one Noah Hemlock? "

Staying cooped up in the League all day definitely wasn’t Lexis’ style. Feeling slightly bad for the poor chumps who came to challenge her today, as they were going to met with some air and possibly an empty packet of potato chips.
The Champ desperately needed to get out of that stuffy place though! She was losing her marbles— And she really didn’t have a lot left. So today was going to be dedicated to her, her new egg and whatever Cafe she stopped by in Castelia City that was cheap enough for her, after all, despite having pretty much two jobs, most of her money went into those jobs…and food…and booze..ANYWAY.
Here she was, strolling the streets, her Hydreigon floating behind her as per usual, the partner never liked being cooped up ever since it was a young Deino, Lexis never blamed her. A fresh crepe was in her hand whilst a pair of headphones rested against her head and blasted some tunes into her ears.
Though she really should’ve been paying more attention to her surroundings. A swift corner was turning and bumping into an unsuspecting individual caused Lexis to panic dropping her beloved crepe…..and egg in the process.
“No, my crepe— WAIT NO MY BABY!!!” was there nothing but doom in store for this champion? Was there going to be a ray of hope in her life? Find out soon.
Castelia City. Finally. After maybe a week of losing her way in the Unovan countryside. The rookie had finally made it to the big apple. Nora rubbed her nose against the skin of her upper arm, inconspicuously sniffing as paranoid eyes flickered around the passing faces. She needed to find a hotel or inn quickly. Even one of those outdoor showers would do. Was there a beach nearby? Probably not. Nora had only been to Lumiose City once or twice before but she could already tell Castelia was far bigger... and taller. All the skyscrapers were packed in like sardines. Even the simple act of looking up caused her head to spin. " Oof! " Years of streetfighting Nora had participated in proved to useful in this moment as her lighting reflexes shot out to catch a Pokemon egg before she even realised she’d bumped into someone. " Phew, that was a close one! " she chuckled lightly, glancing up " You ought to be more caref-- "
Blood drained from Nora’s face and she nearly dropped the egg herself. This must be what people meant when they said Unova was the land of dreams because not only had the rookie run into a dazzling beauty, she had bumped headfirst into her idol. Nora tightly hugged the egg against her chest, desperately trying to stop the stuttering, blurting mess she was about to become.
" A-A-A-A-... ALEXINE RASKE. "

The only reason Gabe left Kalos was to visit a ruin or two. As long as he got the chance to see what he wanted to see, it didn’t matter how far he went. Unova was his current port of call, considering the region was littered with several ruins. It took little more than a short walk through a forest to reach the area he had become interested in, Gabe grateful that it appeared to be untouched.
For almost an hour he and Aimé explored the ruins. It had several levels and was completely silent but at one point he thought he’d heard another’s voice. Both he and his Sableye paused to look in the direction of the sound but soon dismissed it in favour of a new finding. Gabe saw Aimé look back to where the noise came from again but didn’t hear anything himself, continuing to record notes and take photographs. He exited the ruins through an opening at the back of the structure and spied movement as he turned the corner.
What he then saw was the impressive span of an Aerodactyl’s wings. Had a woman not shouted at him, something about a “future husband”, he wouldn’t have almost dropped his expensive camera in fright. After several curse words muttered under his breath Gabe willed himself to relax. Humour the woman, even. Better force a smile while he’s at it, or a least a more pleasant expression.
“Maybe,” a smile quirked the edges of his mouth. “But from the sounds of it, you’re not too fond of this place.”
Brows raised, a devilish smile crossed Nora’s expression. She appreciated the boy playing along with her. Made the long, lonely days in Unova thus far less mediocre.
" It’s my lucky day then, huh? " she replied, words legible through her buttery Kalosian accent. She strolled towards him while adjusting a hooped earring which had hooked over her ear and comb through of the fronds from her fringed crop top across her belly button. " I mean I don’t not like abandoned structures, it’s just-- Woah! That’s a fancy camera dude. " Nora squat down to have a better look at the aperture in his hands, all to tempted to touch it. She wasn’t working in the Hotel anymore, she couldn’t be putting her grubby hands all over rich peoples’ stuff like she used to. It took all her self-control to shove her hands in her pockets and keep them there. " Oh! I have an idea, we should take a “selfie” together!! " Nora straightened her knees and gave him a cheesy grin, big brown eyes looking over her sunglasses keenly, " Isn’t that what you Unovans love to do? It could be like your ‘welcome to the country’ present to me! You have a real cracker of a camera too. Your seflies must be super high quality! "

4: Would your OC want to involve themselves in humanitarian work ? If yes, then for what? If not, then why not?Depending on the situation and the people involved, Nora could find herself distracted from her goal to help others. However, it’s not something she goes out of her way to do unless its for her own family.9: Does your OC feel a pressure to achieve or are they content and calm with doing what they can at the moment?Nora is under a lot of personal stress to become the Unovan League Champion because she believes it will bring her enough wealth to support her family.13: What kind of situations does your OC avoid the most?Perhaps a more apt question is what situations doesn’t Nora avoid? She is unapologetically reckless, throwing herself into almost all situations to leave herself to deal with everything by the seat of her own pants.
