Tonight’s selection is the classy Davidoff Millennium. This classic cigar comes in as a petite corona 4.5″ X 41. The chocolaty sun grown wrapper hails from Ecuador and ultra premium binder and fillers from the Dominican Republic. The wrapper is a sexy reddish brown. The aroma on the wrapper is rich with chocolate, barnyard, hay, and leather. The first puff told me this one is going to be full of body. Right away I picked up a sweet dark chocolate, black cold brew coffee, a hint of cedar, and cinnamon on the retro hale. After the first third spices started to crop up such as black pepper, nutmeg, cinnamon, and a hint of black tea. The complexity of this cigar was fantastic. Cigars International claims this cigar has a perfect burn. This is what I would expect from a $15 petite corona and a reputation as highly esteemed as Davidoff. As you can see in the third picture (right after my cat knocked off the ash) the burn was far from perfect. This happened on my first sample as well this was my second. To understand why this reputable company might make a mistake like this check out the Honest Cigar podcast on YouTube episode 1. I don’t mean to shit on Davidoff I think they make excellent cigars. The flavors of the body were exquisite. I got some leather in the mix, vanilla and leather. I am a light weight when it comes to handling my nicotine. However, this is not my first rodeo I have a decent tolerance. I had to put the cigar down halfway through. I was getting dizzy from the strength of the cigar and I had to stop and get some water. I don’t want to knock Davidoff again, there are people that love strong cigars and this is the one for you. It has as much body as it does strength this is a weighty cigar. I wasn’t rushing for the trash can but it sure did kick me in the balls. People under estimate the power of a nicotine high. The burn time for me was 47 minutes. I am abandoning my rating system of green chilies for the overall rating and I am going with a yes or a no. However, I will continue to rate the body and strength with chilies. The body gets 9/10 chilies and the strength gets 8/10 chilies. The word powerhouse is way over used in cigar reviews this one is a damn power factory! This one is a yes. I am not the biggest fan of pairing cigars with drinks and food although I do it occasionally. I prefer to taste the cigar and only the cigar, just a good movie or youtube show and some water. Pairing can be nice though from time to time. I would recommend pairing this with an Islay scotch or Speyside. The cliche beer to pair this with would be a nice sweet and rich IPA like Odell brewing company. I had an Italian lager called Moretti that did just fine it was married lovely with the cigar but that is not just any lager. Something sweet like soda would pair well to tame the strength as you smoke. If you enjoy super strong sticks or can tolerate it, this stick gets a yes.
