Spell to Calm The Waves

Purpose: Spell to ease tensions in friendships/relationships. Requires: ° a big bowl (preferably glass) filled with water ° picture of you and your friend ° blue food colouring [peace, forgiveness, patience, removing bad vibrations] ° 1 brown candle [friendship, to make relationships solid] or white [all purposes] ° cloves (the number of cloves should equal the number of your friendship in years) [friendship, release negative forces] ° a needle ° 1 crystal (lapis lazuli [friendship, honesty], rose quartz [helps all kinds of relationships/friendship, forgiveness], turquoise [friendship, clarity], tourmaline [friendship, peace] or quartz [all purposes]) ° incense (honeysuckle [friendship, happiness], sweet pea [friendship, courage], angelica [harmony, insight and understanding], chamomile [harmony, peace, calm] or sandalwood [all purposes])

Point in time: ° weekday: Sunday [friendship, social aspect], Friday [friendship, harmony] or Monday [emotions, peace, insight] ° moon phase: waning moon [banishing negative energy] or waxing moon [relationships]

Procedure: 1. Evoke the magical circle. 2. Ignite the incense. Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths. Enjoy the pleasant smell and meditate a few minutes to prepare if you like. 3. Take the needle and the candle and carve your name and your friends name into the candle. 4. Light the candle and let the soothing light fill you with positive feelings that will help you to open your mind to your intenion. 5. Lay down your picture in front of you and place the glass bowl above it. 6. Pour the food colouring into the water (not too much because you should still be able to see the photo!). 7. Put the crystal into the bowl. Watch it sink to the ground. 8. Stir the water up (use your hands). Say:

“Tension sneaked between us. Rules our minds. But shall not ruin us! Years of precious friendship/relationship overweigh. Give us peace, balance and harmony. Don’t let us forget, but let us learn from our mistakes. Help us to get strong again. This is my will, so mote it be.”

9. Take the cloves and let them drop into the water, one by one. While you do that, think about the happiest memories you created together and recall the way you felt in those moments. 10. Reverse the circle. 11. Let the incense burn down by itself. 12. Let the candle burn as long as you are able to supervise it. Then, douse the candle. 13. Light the candle the following days until it burned down completely.

[You don’t need to follow each step exactly. Do what feels natural to you, so your energy may flow constantly. Own Spell]

But be aware of the following: Communication is the most important thing in any kind of relationship. This spell will help you to reconnect and ease the tension. But it cannot heal something that is broken. Many friendships/relationships are meant to last forever, but sometimes they are not. It is very hard to acknowledge to oneself that it might be over, especially when you used to be very close. But times will heal and the right people will always be in your life. Spell request

Tough as a Nail, Sharp as a Thorn Protection Spell

This is a spell to help protect you from physical or emotional harm.

Ingredients:

Storm water

Rose thorns

Nails

Herbs for protection and strength (I used black pepper, ginger, basil, and oregano)

A jar

Optional: paper and something to write with, if you don’t want to say the spell out loud

Instructions:

Add protective herbs to your jar.

Add storm water to about halfway up the jar. While you add it, say “Strong as lightning, thunder, and rain, all attempts to harm me will be in vain.” If you can’t say the spell out loud, write it down on a piece of paper and add that into the jar.

Add the thorns and nails into the jar and say “Tough as a nail, sharp as a thorn, though this spell new strength will be born.” If you can’t say the spell out loud, write it down on a piece of paper and add that into the jar.

Bath Spell Ingredients for Mentally Ill Witches

{Companion post: Bath Spell Ingredients For Witches Who Have Experienced Sexual Trauma} *~*~*~* This isn’t a spell in itself, just a starting list to mix and match for what you need! Feel free to add on; this is just a small list of what I use.

• 1 Cup Apple Cider Vinegar (Removing Negativity; do not use with dairy milk as it will curdle)

• Handful or 5 Drops Essential Oil of Lavender (Tranquility, Relaxation)

• 1 Litre/Quart of Dairy or Non-Dairy Milk (Nurturing/Comfort)

• Rose Petals (Self Love)

• Handful of Himalayan Pink (Cleansing, Self Love) or fine Sea Salt (Cleansing, Purification)

• 5 Drops Sandalwood Oil (Protection, Purification, Cleansing)

• 6 Cups Strong Brewed Non-Instant Coffee (Rejuvenating, Stress Relief; also good for Spoonies)

Candle Magic and Colors

-(Optional):

When lighting the candle, say: “ Candle of power, candle of might, Create my desires here on this night. Power, stream from the candle’s fire, Bring to me my heart’s desire.”

Before snuffing the candle, say (always snuff the candle flame. Never blow. Some say it releases the charm/energy/magic you put into the candle): “My words have strength, The victory’s won. So say I, This spell is done.”

Ingredients: - Three pennies - A clover leaf (or other lucky plant)

While whispering thanks, drop one to the earth, drop one to water, and give one to the air (by putting it someplace high). Then place a clover leaf on your tongue. You can eat it or spit it out. A little bit of good luck is yours for the next three days. ~ alternately you can put the pennies into a tip jar or collection plate and give the good luck to someone else.

Protection and Warding

Okay, this is the spell that I used to take care of all the nastiness at my workplace. It was designed as a spell to cleanse and ward a place that you can’t physically go cleanse and ward, though it will work just as well to protect your own home! It’s a very adaptable spell, and feel free to tweak it to fit your needs. This particular spell will require lots of grounding, energy work, and visualization.

What you need:

salt

dried sage (or cleansing herb of choice)

black pepper

pins, needles, nails, or something else pointy and thorn like

crystals associated with cleansing and protection (I used my big ‘ole block of calcite, quartz, and aventurine)

incense associated with cleansing and purifying (I used lavender and lemon)

fire safe bowl

some sort of paper material from the place you are cleansing and warding (NOTE: if this is not possible to obtain, you’ll also need a sheet of paper. my item was a paper shopping bag, which will make sense in the instructions)

optional: tarot card of your choice. I used The High Priestess.

What to do

Gather all of your materials and set up everything within reach. Light incense, candles, etc., and do some major grounding.

Invoke any deities, familiars, or spirits if your wish, and ask all materials to assist in the fruition of your spell. Draw energy from them now, and throughout the spell.

In your firesafe bowl, add the salt and dried sage. Light the sage, and while it’s smoking, take your paper and tear it in half.

On the first half, write down your intent of cleansing and banishing all negative energies and entities. Also write down the address of the place, or anything else that further ties the object to the place. Light that baby on fire and toss it in your firesafe bowl while visualizing the negativity fleeing the building.

Once everything has burned all the way down, add the black pepper and pins to your bowl.

On the remaining part of the paper, draw a box and label it with the name of the place you are now warding. Draw a second box around it, and in the space between the two write your intention that nothing but positive and neutral energy shall pass through your wards. This is where some heavy visualization comes in. Bring the place up in your mind, and visualize your wards being put in place around the building. Put as much energy as you can into this. Draw from your materials, your deities, and the earth itself. Once you feel you have put enough energy into your wards, light the drawing on fire and toss it into the bowl.

Once everything has stopped burning, allow the ashes to blow away or dispose of them along with everything else in your bowl. It was a windy day for me so I let the ashes of the paper bag be carried away in the wind, and dumped everything else in the trash.

Reground, recharge, and relax!

I have no idea where to start with all the "Suns" and "Moons" and "Capricorn Rising" fancy stuff. Hello, love!! So I promised someone I’d make a big masterpost on astrological basics tonight! So I think this will be my masterpost haha! Let me know if you have any questions!

SIGNS:

So everyone is born with a natal chart, which defines where the sun, moon, and all the planets are located at the time of your birth. Each zodiac sign takes up 30-degrees of the total celestial orb thing (like the whole sky), and your natal chart says which sign each planet is within!

So if, at your birth, the sun is in the divide designated to Taurus, then your sun sign is Taurus (your sun sign is the sign most people already know since it’s based on your birthday), and if Jupiter is in the divide designated to Cancer, then your Jupiter sign is Cancer! (other signs are harder to track since they vary from year to year, if that makes sense)

Each planet is associated with a different part of your personality. Like Mercury is associated with logic and communication, and Saturn is associated with your restrictions and your responses to authority. And each zodiac sign has a set of traits. So if your Mercury sign is Libra, then you have Libra traits when it comes to logic and communication.

You can’t figure all your signs out by yourself unless you have a special book called an ephemerides which tracks the positions of all the planets at all times using tables. But you can find all your signs online at http://astro.cafeastrology.com/cgi-bin/astro/natal. Put in your birth information, and it will give you a table with all of your signs (in the first column of that table)!

Here are the traits associated with each sign:

Aries: impulsivness, aggressiveness, an active nature

Taurus: romantic, patient, hard-working, stubborn

Gemini: analytical, talkative, adaptable

Cancer: caring, defensive, motherly

Leo: loyal, passionate, powerful

Virgo: humble, critical, perfectionist

Libra: romantic, social, peaceful

Scorpio: passionate, jealous, intense

Sagittarius: honest, optimistic, idealistic

Capricorn: determined, hardworking, cold

Aquarius: unemotional, social, humanitarian

Pisces: dreamy, artistic, emotional

Here are what the planets represent:

Sun: your basic personality

Moon: your emotions and inner personality

Mercury: your communication and logic

Mars: your anger and reaction to sex

Venus: your relationships and reaction to beauty

Jupiter: things that expand you, good luck

Saturn: things that limit you, your reaction to authority

Uranus: your reaction to progress and innovation

Neptune: your dreams, illusions

Pluto: your secrets

CLASSIFICATION OF SIGNS:

Signs are classified by an element, duality, and mode/quality! Each sign is a different combination of element and mode.

Here are the elements:

FIRE (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius): active, creative, outgoing

EARTH (Taurus, Virgo, Cap): practical, determined, emotional restricted

AIR (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius): social, witty, intelligent

WATER (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces): emotional, nurturing, receptive

Here are the dualities:

PASSIVE/FEMININE (all earth and water signs): introverted

ACTIVE/MASCULINE (all fire and air signs): extroverted

Here are the qualities:

CARDINAL (Aries, Capricorn, Libra, Cancer): dynamic, brave

FIXED (Taurus, Scorpio, Leo, Aquarius): stubborn, stable

MUTABLE (Pisces, Virgo, Gemini, Sagittarius): flexible and adaptable

HOUSES:

So there are 12 houses, and astronomically, they are based on the rotation of the earth about its axis. Rather than your birthday, your birth time and location determine the positions of the houses at your birth. So two people born on the same day at widely different locations or at different times don’t have the same house positions!

Your houses positions are indicated by the sign they start in at your birth! Like, below is my own personal chart!

There is an outer ring with all the zodiac signs, right? And you see below that ring is a second ring with lines that don’t really line up with the lines on the outer ring? Those are the divisions of my houses! On the far left, there is a thick black line, right? The chunk under that thick line and above the next line counterclockwise is my first house. Even though most of the 1st house is in Libra, my 1st house is technically in Virgo because that is where it starts. Your first house is also known as your rising sign, so Virgo is my rising sign! There is one planet in my first house, Venus (the dark green sign in that chunk). The next chunk is my 2nd house, and it continues around the wheel counterclockwise! So my 7th house is in Pisces, for example! Because the 7th chunk from the far left counterclockwise starts in Pisces!

Now each house dictates a different part of your life! Here is what each one dictates!

House 1: your self (AKA your rising sign, which shows how you come across to other people)

House 2: your possessions

House 3: communication

House 4: the home

House 5: creativity and sex

House 6: service and health

House 7: partnership and marriage

House 8: death and regeneration

House 9: philosophy and travel

House 10 (midheaven): career and reputation

House 11: hopes and friends

House 12: self-undoing and secrets

The planets you have in each house determines how that one part of your life is played out in your real life. For example, my Venus is in the 1st House (the House of self). This makes me charming, artistic, and romantic! And my moon is in the 9th house (the House of Philosophy) which makes me often impractical!

Skepticism of Magic

The witch’s whetstone. Skepticism is in the witch’s favor for two reasons; 1. It sharpens our skill when we are brave enough to use it on ourselves. 2. It hides the true extant of our magic from the public eye.

*This post is bound to be controversial, but again, no arguments. Questions are welcome. I may not have all the answers.

If a witch can’t ask themselves if they’re spell really worked or if they’re imagining it, they won’t increase in skill. There is a time when they become quite skilled and need to question less, but never must they stop asking if they want to grow in power. They must be brave enough to admit if it was in their head. The spirit wasn’t really a spirit, but imagined. How? Did it leave real world signs? Changes in the outside world? Did it relay correct and accurate information that you may not have been previously exposed to? And that’s just for spirits. One needs to question if they’re magic is as effective as they believe. Self assess. But not to the extant of self degradation. Don’t be ashamed if your spell failed. If you’re really committed to succeeding in magic, you’ll get there eventually, and maybe through different systems of magic. As for the second part, we are lucky enough to live in a time when we can work quietly. No everyday person is going to stop you from doing exactly what you want. If they shut their eyes to it, it doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. It only means they won’t see what’s going on around them. And that, dear readers, is a truly divine gift.
