Hypothetical Frickbear's Gameplay Idea Post: If all the (Base) Night Guards had a kid partner.
Basically it takes a page from the Vanny Office Pal mod, this time with a kid associated (or vaguely in a case or two) with a respective night guard.
Getting some stuff out of the way, they will function as your little helper where you can assign different tasks at the start of the night. Either to close doors or check cams for movement (like which side Freddy's on or if Springtrap moved). But you can give them newer tasks from Upgrad Cadet, which can help you garner tokens, use the fan on their own accord, keep an eye on the music box, and have their own flashlight. However, keep in mind that they can sometimes make mistakes, so don't be too reliant on them.
Special thanks to u/Chelmin_3 for this brilliant idea.
As for specific gimmicks, well, here's my idea:
The Sleepy Duo
After the babysitter quit last minute, Mike had no choice but to take Mary with him to work, just so she's not home all alone. As rash of a decision it may be, she managed to pull her weight, even if Mike wishes to makes sure Mary gets her sleep during the night shift.
One of the originator of this idea in general, and also my favorite (if you couldn't tell by my various posts of them).
Her gimmick takes ques from her soon to be Endless Mode mechanic, where her if her Tape Recorder is on, the night will double in speed from the typical base night, though she will be hidden within a tent sleeping. If the Tape Recorder is off however, the night will half in length, but she will be active helping out.
Additionally, she also has an annoyance mechanic kinda similar to Vanny, in the form of her Origami Cat where if they're accidentally (or intentionally) clicked on, they will drop to the floor before being picked back up the next camera flip. Do that three times in one night, and you will get jumpscared by Monster Origami Cat. So be sure not to forget.
Begrudging Allies
Even though he's under her care now, Gregory decided to sneak into the Frickbear's location as a way to keep a close eye on Vanessa and make sure she's not up to her previous ways. As much as she wants to kick him out, he knows damn well he's gonna cause problems to the salvaged animatronics otherwise, so she begrudgingly keeps him here.
And here we have the inspiration of this post.
As for a gimmick, this was hard to think of, but I think I got one.
Initially I didn't want the kids to be another factor in which animatronics can jumpscare the player, since the way I see it, most animatronics are pretty harmless to kids (the ones that are designed to capture or kill kids aren't animatronics that require masks). However, because Gregory's an absolute menace that can thrash some animatronics if given the time or moment, we can have it where you're required to hide Gregory inside Glamrock Freddy which will be in your office and a button press away.
Also, somewhat off topic, while I don't really wanna have certain night guards be completely tied to certain endings for uniqueness, I still like to imagine for the Evil Route, Gregory would be upgrading Glamrock Freddy to the side in order to fight the boss in that specific section.
Familiar Faces
Although initially applying for the thrill of a challenge and out of curiosity, the moment Fritz took his first steps inside the building, he felt a certain... presence. Something familiar, something distant, and yet it didn't feel particularly sinister. Or maybe it's just the voices in his head, who knows?
So, past the first two, the others require a bit of context. Fritz I decided to take a page out of Rebornica!Mike a bit and have his kid be one of the missing children, specifically another kid that looks suspiciously like him and has the same name as him... Fritz. Normally people with same names are a dime a dozen if Mike and Jeremy are any indication, however it does strike me as odd that in Fritz's introduction he, and I quote, "...I forgot my name."
Coincidence? I THINK...
Yeah, it prolly is lol.
But it's my post, and this is for fun anyways lol.
Now MCI Fritz's gimmick is this: If you spot him all the way in the corners, he won't help you for the rest of the night. That's it. He's a spirit after all, and they don't really like being seen, let alone for too long.
Okay, tbh, I didn't have a particularly outstanding idea for this, because this is Lunatic mode. There's tons of stuff that makes it harder beyond the animatronic difficulty (hell, even in Night 1, Ballon Boy appears and can kill you outright). So I thought what better way to make things harder on yourself than by... getting rid of the buddy mechanic if you aren't careful?
Granted, I do agree it's kinda lame, so if you have better ideas, please, let me know!
Now, all of them were pretty easy to pair with, but Jeremy's case was particularly difficult because he had no real connection to anyone in the games specifically. That is until a certain someone brought up a genius pull that IS in the game (just as an Easter Egg), that being...
What Can Go Wrong?
Jeremy suddenly gotten an out of nowhere call from his folks to take care of his cousin Cassie as he just started his job. So he decided to bring her along with, which the boss didn't seem to mind (or more accurately, care). It's a Pizzaria with cuddly animatronics, I mean, what could go wrong?
I decided to not do the father-daughter thing for this case and just make it easier to have them be cousins. I don't care if it may or may not complicate things, because before that I was gonna give him Susie (the MCI one or just a kid that looks strikingly similar to her and has the same name), so best not to think too hard on that.
Now unlike all the other kids before her, since this is easy mode, I think I'd prefer if she has no unique mechanic unlike the rest of them. Less so because I can't think of one, and more so just to not have any drawbacks since, again, Easy Mode. She helps out and isn't a threat to the animatronics or you.
Hope you guys enjoy this blurb! If there are any tweaks or different ideas you could make with this, comment down below! It's always fun to talk about Frickbear's.
Decided to make something shorter this time, just to get back into the groove of drawing again. Let it be known, there will be more Mike + Mary drawings/comics, especially with a proper story in the mix hopefully.
Also yes, I'm calling these comics M&M, and you can't stop me >:D
I wanted to do another piece of art, this time involving both Mike's associated kids/siblings (whatever Faith is to Rebornica!Mike's case, please correct me on the matter).
I know Mike and Mary's relationship in this game is unclear, but considering he's based on Movie Mike, as well as being a (likely) de-composite of Michael Afton in the games, I thought it was worth tackling this idea as a little character study on both since I liked Michael's iteration a lot in Frickbear's and found Mike the most interesting among the night guards.
Hopefully I can do more with this premise in the future, be it continuing off this route or just in general (unless Mary makes an appearance in the update which, R.I.P. this idea if depending on that happening lol), and I hope you enjoy this comic I made ^w^
EDIT: SHE'S COMING TO FRICKBEAR'S 3 IN THE NEW UPDATE AAAAAAAH
