My Field of Sunflowers

Sunflowers say Summer like no other plant. And Summer is my FAVORITE time of year. I am a Kansas girl at heart and so much of the sunflower is represented in me. Sunflowers are remarkably tough with an easy temperament, they are tolerant and cheery. I have loved sunflowers for as long as I can remember. I want this blog to represent me, who I am, what I stand for and how I live my life. I live by 4 F's...Family, Faith, Friends and Fashion. Life is what you make it and I choose to make it good. My husband is the absolute best...a fireman by profession but being a great father and husband is what he would rather be known for. Our kids are far from perfect but each are amazing in their own beautiful way. I work full time and have a passion for all things beautiful. I love to craft, decorate, shop, hang out with my fam and friends.

Where was God?

Today the news of the massacre in Las Vegas hit the media. At this moment, just a little under 24 hours since the incident, there are 59 dead and 527 injured. How can this happen? How does God just stand by? Why would he remove his hands from the scene just to watch this horrific tragedy take place? 

God doesn’t idly stand by…he is there, in every moment, every step, every injury and even every death. Nothing that happens is in vain. He is there, touching the hands of the injured, comforting those who lost someone, he is healing, he is comforting, he is guiding so many to the path that leads to him. There are broken hearts all over the United States at this moment, yet he is there, in every home and in the prayers of those in pain. 

My daughters are beside themselves, with a lack of understanding as to why this would happen. How can this even be explained? I can’t even begin to help them wrap their minds around this. All I can do is offer encouragement, compassion and a hug! As I was trying to find the words of how to come to terms with this all I could think to do was to go to the bible, I was lead to Isaiah 41:10, it so perfectly speaks comfort and peace to my soul: “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” There is not one thing I can say or do to help my girls, or anyone, comprehend what happened. However, God has a plan for every single person, whether they believe in him or not. There is nothing that surprises God and nothing he can’t handle. He will prevail in a world that is so scary and getting farther and farther away from him. Proverbs 16:9 says, “We should make our plans counting on God to direct us” He will never leave us or forsake us. 

Lord, keep my friends and family in your hand. Comfort them and allow them to feel your presence. I pray for all those involved in the Las Vegas Massacre. You have a plan and I will trust in you to be there for everyone involved. Thank you for the first responders, police and fire for their dedication to those in need. Thank you for the doctors and nurses tending to each and every patient and tirelessly working their shift and more to offer their expertise in a way to help. Thank you for those that stepped up to help each other. Unite this country Lord and allow us to hear your voice. Amen
