he hums and raises a brow at the easy admittance of his family’s death. sehun knows he wouldn’t be able to do that, but maybe he’s just more emotional about the face. or maybe it’s still to fresh for him. “i suppose,” he replies to the rest of his words. the conversation dies a quick death with that and sehun doesn’t know what else to say. maybe he should order right now. he has that meeting anyways, though he can’t see anyone that fits the description he’s been given. “i’ll have a scoop of chocolate fudge,” he says after a moment of silence and after having scoped out all the available flavours. it might be freezing outside, but there really is never a bad time for ice cream.

with nothing more than a nod of understanding, kibum turns to fetch the order. he doesn’t know whether the other wants a cup or a cone, but the only reason he didn’t ask is because they’re out of cones anyway, so it’ll have to be in a cup whether he likes it or not. silently, he prepares the order for the customer, thinking to himself, regrettably, about where his real family is now, and if he’s even crossed their minds since his death. for some reason, he hopes not.

“there you go. one scoop of chocolate fudge....” 

placing the ice cream on the counter for the other to grab, he begins to ring him up on the register. 

“that’ll be 3,000 won.”

He pulls off his scarf, the garment being too hot now that he’s inside, and cards his fingers through his hair to rid it of some of the snow that has gathered there. His fingers feel wet and it makes him wince. “You don’t seem to care too much about what just happened,” he remarks, noticing the lack of interest in the subject and ignoring the question all together. “Do you not mind that another person has just died near here? Everyone else around here seems to.” Sehun kind of likes that this man just seems to be going aout his day. Now if only he himself can shut up about it, that’d be great.

Kibum gives the young man a lazy shrug, almost wishing he could explain the reality of the situation to him. Truthfully, he doesn’t care all that much about coming off cold considering he’s hoping to not be here for long anyway, but he doesn’t want to seem completely heartless either. Of course there’s no way that this kid would be able to even suspect that he was a grim reaper, but even aside from that, it’s useful to try to be liked - at least in the workplace. Considering he’s already living out of his car, he can’t really afford to be unemployed again.

“I guess you could say I’m not a stranger to death, being that my entire family died in a fire and all,” he says, lying. “It doesn’t phase me that much. It’s a natural part of life. It is sad though, really...she was quite young. I’m a little bit shell shocked at the moment, you know? I don’t know how to react to it because I can’t even believe this just happened.”

I like to know my writing partner. This isn’t always necessary, and if you’re not the sort of person who tries to get chummy with their roleplaying buddies, that’s absolutely fine, but in my experience, the plots and characters that last the longest are the ones with the players that I can message at 3 in the morning with an idea without feeling like I’m bothering them.

Kibum turns his head to take a glance back out the window and nods. He’s never cared too much for weather like this, but knowing that accidents like the one today are that much more likely to occur when the roads are slippery, he wonders why anyone would. Kibum normally hates being dead, but at least the one thing he has to look forward to is that he’ll never have to worry about being killed just like Hwang Jiyeon. At least when he died, it wasn’t in front of an audience.

“Yeah.....” Heaving a sigh, he turns his attention back to the customer and smiles. “What can I get started for you?”

Kibum can be a pretty miserable guy at times - being dead will do that to you - so naturally, there are times when he wants to curse the world and everyone and everything in it. When he’s caught out in the rain is one of those times…

If he’s got a sweater and an umbrella, he doesn’t care all that much, but he’s never really admired the rain, and he absolutely hates when he has to go places and it’s pouring all over him. If he’s ever caught out in a shower when he’s not prepared, it’s pretty safe to assume that he’s really grumpy and annoyed.
