- their first time is clumsy, trying to figure out how to communicate with sign/lip reading when you’re not exactly.. ahem.. looking at each other

- they figure it out; and from that point on, they just learn each others bodies

- sam learns that grizz loves it when you pull his hair

- they’re both clean... take that information as you will...

- they get caught multiple times, as sam can’t hear them coming and grizz is much to preoccupied to be listening

- they first get caught by becca (how she truly finds out about them)

- after that, it’s allie and then luke, and the worst was when they were caught by gordie

- he’s not homophobic at all, just couldn’t look at them for like,, 3 weeks,, because he Never needed to see That Much of his friends

I think the fifth guy was Kingsley Shacklebolt and he just saw the Marauders and went “I’ll just do whatever they aren’t doing”.

what makes me sad is how grizz doesn’t feel comfortable coming out to his friends. like, sure its a small northeastern town run by conservative WASPS and the guard are presented as stereotypical jocks but they loved grizz in their own way. evidence:

no one ever made fun of his man buns or eccentric style

they respected his obscure knowledge

didn’t care he was a lit nerd with intellectual pursuits

didn’t care he couldn’t shoot someone

supported his wilderness lifestyle and gardening

luke had helena, who holds braincells and would encourage him to be supportive

gwen (clark’s ex) did not care grizz was gay. small sample, but potential projection of what the popular clique could think

anyways, i think we could be in for a pleasant surprise with grizz’s eventual coming out.

For as many posts about grizz as I’ve seen, there hasn’t been nearly enough discussion about this scene.

It really hit close to home for me because my plan throughout high school was always to go to college really far away and come out there. I have friends that I love and who aren’t homophobic, but just the fear of changing the group dynamic or being treated differently has kept me in the closet for such a long time, just waiting for graduation so I can escape. I always anticipated that I would never speak to the people I’m closest to right now again. These are exactly the words of a gay teen in that situation.

No show I’ve watched before has shown that story of coming out/self-realization. It’s a sort of limbo between being fully accepted and dealing with brash homophobia. It makes me hurt for grizz, because it’s caused me a lot of pain myself.

I think it’s really easy to brush over these few lines if you haven’t had that experience, but they’re really impactful and were chosen extremely well.
