my biggest dissatisfaction with tvl so far is that the pacing is insane. i think that the pacing only slowing down when lestat is with louis is an intentional choice bc that's probably how lestat experiences his life: fast and dopamine-seeking until he's with louis where he can relax and be in the moment and enjoy things at a deeper level than the surface. i get it. but what that gives the viewer such little time to get into lestat's headspace and to make the connections from his past to why he is the way that he is. which he DOES do in the book. and gabrielle is reduced to an ever-present comical villain, which is ironic considering the source of his mother wound is how absent she is. and it was this very wound that she took advantage of and used to groom and abuse him.

not to be alarmist but i feel like everything nowadays is “do you remember when this show was good” or “do you remember when there were goldfish in this pond” and “do you remember when this restaurant was still open” and it’s just everything getting worse, fading away, and signs of verdant livelihood deteriorating in real time. it’s just such a bummer

I honestly find it quite strange how some people who claim to love claudia refuse to accept that louis is also her abuser. Putting the blame entirely on lestat feels genuinely insane to me and i say this as someone whose favorite character is literally louis

Perhaps that's why episode 6 felt out of place to them, as this was quite clear to me from the minute he begged lestat to turn this child without her consent to fix their marriage and continued to use her as a way to appease his own guilt over the things he'd done

She was never truly her own person to him, rather an extension of himself and she knew this too so it's crazier to me that people are shocked she hated him just as much as lestat

I guess i also just fail to understand how we're watching a show about literal monsters and people are still having debates over who is more morally correct than the other
