I compile all of the best posts on the internet, on my blog funny-junks.tumblr.com! Follow me friends!
Maybe we should blink at the customers for 10 minutes and they’ll get the hint? lmao -Abby
so my shitty manager fucked up my availability for this semester and scheduled me during a time block during which i had not just one but TWO classes
and then were like “OK well it was our mistake but you have to come in anyway or find someone to cover you”
and i was like “.... how tf do you expect me to find someone to cover me for a morning shift when like 3/4 of our employees are high school students”
and i spent several days asking literally everyone i could think of if they could cover me even though it wasn’t my fucking fault and theoretically they should have at least done the legwork for me??? i told you i wasn’t available like fuck
ACTUAL SWEETHEART TO THE RESCUE one of my favorite head cashiers took it for me even though it means he is going to be there for eleven hours at a clip AND he’ll have to spend half of it ringing like some sort of pleb
i am now crying because i work with the most hardworking selfless people in the world i bought him a package of the really good cookies from the bakery to eat when the manager isn’t looking cause i know he doesn’t take his breaks to get something to eat and still feel like that’s not enough
THANK GOD FOR THE GOOD ONES GUYS HONESTLY THEY DON’T COME ALONG THAT OFTEN
when your favorite head cashier says something so sweet and so genuine and yet so sad and you start crying and then everyone cries
Real talk...
So important - as a retail worker, if you see an item cheaper somewhere else - GO BUY IT THERE.
Just go.
Don’t tell me about it, don’t try to haggle - just go there.
I don’t care - I will never care. This is a corporate business, whether you buy something or not really doesn’t matter to me.
Will the business go under because you didn’t buy this one thing here? Probably not - so go away
“this is cheaper at stop and shop”
“GO BOTHER THEIR CASHIERS INSTEAD”
what the hell kind of store takes “senior tuesday” and turns it into “everyone tuesday”
at least with senior tuesday we were allowed to scan extra coupons if they forgot that it was a thing or left their coupon at home?
we aren’t allowed to scan extras now because it’s “everyone tuesday” so now everyone is going to be angry and upset and i’m going to be like “....”
after the customer stops yelling
This is it. This is retail.
literally
Customer: *Complains about the price*
Me the cashier: Well let me just call up corporate for you so they can lower the price, because you know I can do that!
the place in heck for people who ignore a cashier entirely unless it’s to complain about something regarding their skills or intelligence is, instead, located another forty meters south-southwest of the lake of fire, and if you’ve reached the eternal torture chambers, you’ve gone too far.
Please, please, please: be extra kind to people working retail and service industry jobs
If you have ever worked with the public, you know that people can be … what’s the word? … Ah, yes, fucking terrible.
If you have ever worked a seasonal job, in retail, where you already have no idea what’s going on and there is no one to help you because everything is a crazed holiday terrorscape, then you have truly gazed into the abyss of humanity. It has gazed into you.
It is not hard to inject kindness into this situation. Acknowledge that this person is a human — ask how their day is going, and mean it. Be patient and courteous, because you are not the only one who wants their help or attention; the store is, in fact, full of people with the same aims and goals as you: get in, find gift, leave.
Let it be known that you recognize that their job is not easy or fun. Know that they are probably not making more than minimum wage. They are working long, hard hours for a job they need. You can be a very small bright spot, that person who reminds them that not all — heck, not even most! — humans are bad eggs.
If other shoppers are being awful, let it go. You don’t know what’s up with them that would cause them to act like this. As my friend Virginia would say, you don’t know where they’re coming from — in the last 20 minutes or the last 20 years.
i just wanted to tell you that I fucking love your blog. it has me dying.
Thank you so much! I don't get to update very often because I'm literally always at work these days but it really means alot to know that some people get enjoyment out of this mess :-)
off the clock after an eight hour shift during peak hours the day before thanksgiving
me, on the phone with my mom: no so which paper towels did you want? i'm trying to get out of here and you didn't specify
customer: excuse me? excuse me miss?
me, on the phone with my mom: sorry, mom, i couldn't hear you. did you want the store brand?
customer: miss, do you work here?
me, ON THE PHONE WITH MY MOM: okay, i'll get that one. how many do we need?
customer: miss, i can see your apron hanging over your arm. i know you work here. i'm looking for horseradish
me, ON THE FUCKING PHONE: okay, i'll get those. and i have the onions and the eggs, so was there anything else you wanted me to bring home, to my house, where i live, now that i'm off of work and punched out?
customer: excuse me? are you listening to me? i can't find the horseradish root.
me: mom, i'm gonna call you back in a second
me: *hangs up*
customer: horseradish?
"I'm going to tell your manager" Okay. Go ahead. I'm sure they will fire me, one of the only cashiers who has never been late, the fastest cashier in the front end, and the one with one of the highest numbers of positive customer comments on the blog. Yes. They will fire me because you can't read the date on the coupon.
There is no fake smile like the one you give at your job
My manager wants to promote me to customer service booth. I'm not sure what to expect and if I should just keep my current job as cashier. Thoughts? (Yes... I know you can't reply. Thanks a lot tumblr)
