happy salt air and the rust on your door month to all those who celebrate
Tbh I think the "but data centers are important infrastructure, not just AI" talking point misses that like
Ok so roads are important infrastructure. A lot of stuff that's important happens on roads. Now, let's imagine that quadrillionaire Matt Stench has decided that the next big tech innovation is the Wide Car. It's a car that takes up six lanes despite seating only one passenger.
The Wide Car is supposed to be the future, and everyone's going to be driving Wide Cars, even though nobody who makes Wide Cars is turning a profit. Employers are offering Wide Cars as an employee benefit, and getting "nah." Some employers are going as far as demanding their employees drive Wide Cars, and the result is that people take time out of their workdays to get in the mandatory gas usage for their Wide Car before driving home in a regular car.
In spite of the fact that the Wide Car is clearly set to fail, there's an enormous push to expand to twelve-lane roads to accommodate a bunch of Wide Cars that simply will not materialize. This is not an organic response to demand, but a speculative investment that amplifies the existing issues with road development for no good reason.
That is the problem.

āTumblr age verification will not be needed,ā tumblr staff stated upon confirming every single blog on the site is more than 10 years old.
āIf you were literate enough to be posting about Johnlock in 2015 we can kind of just assume youāre good,ā staff elaborated even though we did not ask them to.
There are many people who donāt share this sentiment, but I have an appreciation for when a fanfic is so separated from canon that it couldāve easily been its own original novel, and yet the author was only ever going to put that much energy into it if their favourite characters got to be there
I think thereās a difference between āthe author stripped the media of everything it had to replace it with something easyā and āthe author thought up a concept they really really like and are bestowing it upon the character like a medalā
Funny growing up in the late 2000s and seeing constant "don't text and drive" warnings, PSAs telling us to put our phones down behind the wheel, wait until you're home to send that text, a phone-distracted driver is a deadly driver etc etc
Only for modern car manufacturers to be like "we made the car a phone :) now you have to text and drive to change the radio station :)"
Here's an image. The inspiration was to go into a forest with a flashlight and take a poicture of tree with my flash light.

The Hunger Games: Catching FireĀ (2013) dir. Francis Lawrence
Can I just say I absolutely loved the bit where they showed Benedict playing with his brothers, throwing shaving cream around, and then immediately cut to the scene where Sophie was walking past that room when her friend was cleaning up the mess the boys made. Class difference masterfully shown without a single word being used. Lovely stuff.
lord the peasants are so loud today

Don't you mean classist Typo, as in discriminating against poor people, and not classicist, the type of academic who studies antiquity in southern Europe?

rereading old media and reading new media should take up separate types of time. you shouldn't have to dedicate the same conceptual time to the both of them. it's not fair.
