my other thing with Derek hale is Like…

he can’t be THAT old bc Allison’s aunt isn’t that old in season 1 and one of the cornerstones of his character was her being significantly older and grooming him to hell and back. next to scott And stiles he looks old but the same could be said about Scott and stiles vs most other characters in the show. And not to conflate actor and character ages but like. Tyler hoechlin is 4 years older than tyler posey and tyler ___ [stiles actor]. idk my interpretation watching it when i was 17 was that Derek looks around the age of the upperclassmen (lydia danny jackson etc) but presumably he already graduated high school so he must be a year out of high school at most maybe 2. Which makes him ~4 years older than the youngest ppl in the “pack” at most. This hypothesis is further supported by them casting ppl 7 years younger than ty ler posey etc to be the baby werefolves when they decided they needed new faces
