Would you cite the 1980s Nelvana era as a touchstone?

not sure what you mean by "touchstone", but if you're talking about cultural significance in terms of media in general, one could argue it's a significant footnote. Nelvana received many opportunities as a result of the success of the first 2 care bears movies, becoming more of a household name on the small screen in the 80's that carried over into the 90's and 00's. I look at The Care Bears Movie as the primary reason Nelvana is still around today: Shows like Franklin, Little Bear, Cyberchase, etc. probably wouldn't have existed if it wasn't for Care Bears!

OK, if you're reading this, you probably have AT LEAST heard of the "Soulcalibur" series if not played it. While it's becoming more common knowledge (for those into this kind of stuff), in addition to the first Gran Turismo, i also got:

Soul Blade (USA/EU) aka Soul Edge (JP) aka Soulcalibur 0 (because this was Soulcalibur before Soulcalibur; technically the first game in what would become the series that's known today)! I used to have this game as a kid, but had gotten rid of it because at the time i thought it was getting "boring". I haven't played this game in 10+ years and nostalgia is such an itch, PLUS the game celebrates it's 30th Anniversary, so i had to get it back in my collection.

Anyone remember Gran Turismo? The 1st Game??? i had a copy for 20+ years (no joke; my intro to racing games), that basically became "unplayable" over the years (long loading times, music skipping, etc.), so i got a better copy!

"breathing intensifies" i did the mundane thing of reading the whole article and, umm.... some notes.:

"the gold standard of family entertainment"... That's a VERY, VERY BOLD claim ('cough'Disney'cough'), but one i can't disagree with. plus using the word "beloved" isn't really the best word choice in this situation; all i'm thinking is "All Right, how are they gonna fu*k it up this time?", and i DON'T wanna think that!
