James rolled his eyes, but an amused smirk found its way to his lips regardless. The wizard batted Sirius’ hand away gently, more laughter leaving his lips. “Wow. You’re so in love with me.” He said, joking.

“Oh, you wish. Let’s be honest this would never work anyway. There’s not enough room in this relationship for both of our egos.” Sirius stated with a dramatic sigh.

"With your ego taking up the majority of the room, can it work with anyone?" He asked his friend, raising a brow slightly as the corner of his lip curled up for a moment. He shook his head. "I knew you wouldn't even give us a chance." A dramatic frown on his lips.

“You’ve seen me on the quidditch pitch, Macdonald.” He began, referring to his very obvious skill. “I don’t believe for a second that you think I had none.” A knowing smirk grew on his lips, and her next comment about his looks caused him to tilt his head slightly. “I knew you fancied me.” He joked. 

Mary rolled her eyes smirking. “Now is that confidence or arrogance?” She asked with a playful look, raising a brow. The brunette kept a straight face, trying to keep the blush from rising to her face with little success. “Just because I can see that you’re good looking doesn’t mean I fancy you. That’s just wishful thinking.”

James smirked at her comment. "I would like to say confidence." He said, the corners of his lips curling up a little more as he did so. Seeing even the hint of red make its way to her cheeks caused the smile on his lips to grow. "It's all the same with me, Mare. I've got a personality as beautiful as my face and a face as beautiful as my personality." He said, exaggerating if only a little. "It's a no-brainer."

However, he managed to keep the smile off his lips for the moment. “Don’t worry, dear.” He began, stepping forward and placing a hand on his friend’s cheek. “I will stay with you regardless of your delusion. We’ll find a way to make it work.” The smile found its way to his lips now and a light laugh filled the small space between them as he dropped his hand.

The smirk fell from the male’s lips at his friend’s words. “No, no, no, I will find a way to make it work with your delusions Prongs.” He replied reaching up placing a hand over James’ own hand before breaking out into a grin at the wizard’s laughter.

"Can't teach an old dog new tricks, Mares." He replied with a grin. It was, of course, not impossible and James was certainly not old either. "Pure, refined skill." He looked rather proud of himself and winked back at his fellow Gryffindor alumni.

Your grace period is over.”

“I see your ego has not changed. I wouldn’t have gone as far to say every day, more like once a month.” Peyton attempted to keep a straight face as she feigned disinterest. “Oh, is that what we called it?” She raised a brow and tilted her head with an innocent look before smirking teasingly. “I can’t believe how quickly it’s gone. All of it, not just us dating.”

James feigned a hurt expression and met her gaze. "Ouch. That's a bit far, Peyts." He sniffed, frowned and looked away as if he was about to cry. "Another low blow -- you're brutal." He broke character and let a laugh leave his lips, shaking his head. "Time flies when you're having fun." He shrugged. Not that their current predicament was all that fun -- the war, that is. "We're all grown up now." As if James Potter could ever really grow up.

Peyton had been too nervous to sit around waiting, so instead she had chosen to arrive to her date a little bit early and give her the opportunity to scope the place out. Sitting at her table, nervously picking at her cuticles she kept glancing up every time the door opened. It had been about ten minutes when the Witch heard a familiar voice causing her eyes to widen and a sheepish smile to pull at her lips. “It’s nice to know that we aren’t complete failures at picking our own dates then.” 

James laughed lightly, sliding into the seat opposite her. “Did you really think we were complete failures? I didn’t think I was that bad.” He joked with his ex-girlfriend. “You look great, by the way.”

Told to make his way to a restaurant just outside of town, he walked in and informed the waiter of his reservation. Directed to his table, his gaze fell on a very familiar brunette. A smile found its way to his lips. “Well, their algorithm isn’t too bad.” He said with a light chuckle.

With absolute adoration.” He straightened up. “It’s definitely me they’d be heartbroken about.”

“Well, my dearest this is quite awkward but I think you’ll find I was probably standing behind you on those occasions and it was actually me they were looking at like that. It’s an easy mistake, of course, I mean I’m sure they’d be a little torn that you weren’t available either but their heartbreak would probably be over me.” He gave a shrug scratching the back of his neck as if he felt awkward.
