Slow morning

Day 12: Pearl. "Aligned"

"What do you want the future to look like?" Pearl thought to herself as she was evening out some terrain for another base. As she shoveled up some dirt she saw earthworms trying to retreat back into the moist ground. "What gives you a reason to think you're the only one entitled to live on this land?" she kept thinking.

She sat down into the grass; this is too much thinking for so early in the day. She gazed over the field she was just planning to change fully, taking note of the flowers bending in the wind. Butterflies danced between them while bees visited each bloom in a greedy attempt to gather all the pollen. Two starlings flew over the field while somewhere above them all a raven was soaring.

"This," finally answering her own question, "this is what I want the future to look like". Going against nature was just going against humanity itself.

Pearl built her house out of wood, only occupying the bare minimum amount of land she could. When making a farm land she made sure to collect the seeds of the meadow first to replant them in between the buildings. She created water recycling plants, harvested wind and solar energy to power the village, and made a waste system allowing everything to be recycled.

It took her a while to find balance and to relearn her ways of building, but the future looked brighter than ever.

Grian: No, don't be silly.

Grian: We are adding more people to the roster! They may not be new to this in general, but only now will they get the chance to find true love.

Lizzie: True love, eh? An intriguing concept, but I'll need more evidence to truly believe it.

Jevin, Cleo and Ren start digging up the exile permit office branch because fuck the police

And it's going great we're gonna burn these words of affirmation fuck Scar's cake

When Jevin's shovel hits something soft and there is blood and a noise and Cleo as local undead expert all but throws Jevin out of the way to haul up-

Skizz.

Skizz, in his suit, confused and loopy and unable to stand and they all taunt him for a moment or two but they stop real quick when it becomes clear that Skizz doesn't know what they're talking about.

Or where he is.

And when Ren asks him how the pyramid is coming along, Skizz tells them he's barely started the second layer, he's so behind, why- why are you looking at me like that? What's going on? And who buried me?! Clebert help a guy up I'm starving and someone stabbed me!

It takes them another four minutes to dig up Scar. Scar is even loopier. The last thing he remembers is his zoo parking lot.

And suddenly being thirty million blocks away from the Hermit Permit Office feels like the best possible place to be.
