Hi, my name is Echo, a name i chose as i see it as more dog-like. I go by she/they/it.

I'm a black german shepherd guard dog! otherlinker, Australian, i am an adult.

I chose the label otherlink and my linktype based on a vague connection and feeling i might have something to do with canines; basically, "if i'm not a dog, i am now." If this turns into a more permanent and lasting part of my alterhumanity then maybe the blog will change.

I consider myself a guard dog as i show traits similar to one in my daily life, im very protective of certain people and tend to follow them if i am able, i am also very protective of certain places.

I was working yesterday and a friend came through to get food, this is one friend im relatively close to and im really happy whenever i get to see him.

I got a tail shift then and there the second i realised it was him, wagging and all. I never get tail shifts for this 'type, usually just ears and muzzle. So i was surprised.

Safe to say leaning into the canine identity is good. It's comfortable.

Can someone please just dog talk me the way you'd talk to an off duty guard (personal/territory protection technically) dog? Like if i wasnt guarding anything what would y'all do?

Like if i was just sitting near the person i'm meant to protect and you've been told "oh yeah she's fine, you can interact, she's not on guard" what would y'all do?

Otherlinking going so well i've started getting involuntary moments where i'll be in the backyard like "ah yes i should head down there" and the way i want to do it is quadrupedally.

And then there's the involuntary ear shifts and the canine pricking up of ears that occurs.

I'm more dog than i thought i was.

I am actually finding it rather easy to maintain this identity; the german shepherd, the guard dog, the loyal hound. Perhaps because part of me embodies these things already, perhaps because it is something i desire to be, perhaps both or neither.

Otherlinking as a serious choice and identity, as something i determined for myself. I find comfort in choosing what i am, something i defined for myself.

Would people be less mad about a police k9 therian existing if they also spoke about police violence? Like using the platform of a K9 therian to talk about stuff like that?

Also just for reference i'm a personal guard dog, not any workforce, i'm just wondering if this is something people would want to see from a K9 unit therian.
