I went to my church's girls camp... and found that not one, not two, but FIVE alterhumans total were there..!! So now I have a new alterhuman group chat :3 which is cool

I've been breaking down more lately but have been escaping with sleep so that's coolll

My friend Tisha now officially calls me Finn and it's the BEST in the whole wide world!!!

I got the WORST species dysphoria first night of camp tho... I had digitigrade legs like cocoa... and it felt horrible knowing that my legs were still human legs when I felt cocoa legs...

in other news i've also been swimming more..! And I have a new swimsuit that's pretty gender neutral which is super nice..!!

been Finn shifted for days now and writing some ragebait angst

Also been juggling friends nonstop.... but I can totally get my room in order and hang out with them this week before I go off to another camp, right...? right...?

hi, i love otherpaws here. otherpaws are always welcome.

in light of the recent influx of otherpaw hate, i have some Things To Say.

truly, there is no real difference between otherpaws and furries, except the materials they use to roleplay as animals. we should not be gatekeeping materials, guys. you cannot seriously call yourself furry-friendly if you are anti-otherpaw. but that is not my main reason for disliking the anti-otherpaw stance.

i find a laaaaarge issue i have with these “but otherpaws are copying therians!!!!” folks is that the term otherpaw was created specifically to distance otherpaws from alterhumanity; to create a clear distinction that masks and quadrobics ≠ alterhuman (therian included). which is a factually correct distinction. and folks whining about copying are (maybe unintentionally, maybe not) obscuring that distinction.

no, someone wearing a mask or doing quads is not inherently copying or mocking therians, because masks and quads aren’t exclusive to therians, and they never have been. wearing a mask does not a therian make. wearing a mask does not necessarily have anything to do with therians. claiming that anyone who wears masks or does quads is copying therians is trying to claim exclusive rights of therians over masks and quads. it’s gatekeeping, yes, but worse than gatekeeping, it’s trying to cement masks and quads as inherently ‘therian’. which they aren’t. which we have tried all this time to teach folks that no, not all therians wear masks/do quads, and just because someone does those things doesn’t make them alterhuman.

but now these anti-otherpaw folks are regressing again to “mask = therian, therefore they must be copying and mocking therians”. which is factually inaccurate and damaging to what being alterhuman and being therian truly means. it’s what leads to the misinformation about the true depth of alterhuman identity on places like tiktok. and i’m so sick of it.

i know it’s not a widespread issue (yet). but given that i’ve seen a handful of posts and comments about it, this is why i hope it doesn’t become one.

(i have also alwayyyyyys found the argument “but x is too similar to y!” to be a terrible argument against x. cause like…. who cares. things are allowed to be similar. humans and nonhumans alike are so incredibly numerous that you will almost never have a completely unique experience which no one else has ever had. our experiences overlap significantly because there are so many beings in this world. there is no fault in someone having a similar experience to you. you will not die just because you aren’t in fact that worlds most special snowflake. i prommy.)

Today felt so.. surreal.

Me and Vee were playing Dandy's World and they got Sprout twice within like two floors apart. Not even Sprout day lol (a few hours later I then get sprout, and then a few floors later Vee since it's Vee day. Vee is super happy about that.)

We played for HOURS and I got a few things done for commissions but also I most importantly spent time with Vee. And Vee also seems to be Tisha!! Which is awesome since we're Brusha/Tisha duo and we get to tease each other and not ignore each other.

But playing came with a lot of screaming and sobbing lol. (I finally got glisten in game!! So I have all me's :D) It was super affirming on that end of things.

Also, Tisha said yesterday or something that I'm the real Brusha because she saw my paint water cup which is caked with paint. I'm so happy!!! And I showed Tisha my aquarium floor today as Finn, and shared with Tisha that my art gallery gives her an in-game dialogue!!

Also Tisha was AFK from the game for a while because she needed to dust. Lol!!

And then a bit more seriously,,

My dad got a kinda professional camera!! YAY!! But also I'm super guilty that he got it because what if I don't use it? I haven't even been driving or "doing things" since I've been in such a rush to get ready for camp....... it'll be fine, probably. 53/82 pins left to seal.

And then tonight I had a minor breakdown because I really like my iphone mini, its small and lightning is super nice to me since USBC cables just suck and don't work with USB blocks since the ones I have suck... and now I'm getting a new phone!! It took a bit to process and I think I'm okay with it now... but I feel guilty because, first the camera? now this expensive new apple phone? I feel bad for even asking for some LPS from Target since I didn't get stuff at Cracker barrel on my family's road trip (since the one thing I got from there, my sister ate half of. ugh.)

I just.. idk. I'm half expecting to wake up from some dream.

I get a new phone and phone case in the MORNING. Like, moment the family's up. We trade in...

I'm super anxious for that. But I think I'll make the most of it? I got a phone colour and case colour that'll allow me to make the case Finn themed.

But idk,, I'm nervous. I hate asking for things, and so when I don't have to ask I get startled and stop asking for things more.

i tried to not brush past how horrible Jax is, y'know, but for my mental health I set a boundary

another friend told me to set and enforce boundaries, after all

i set that boundary and I get sent with a wall of text about how horrible Jax is... and how horrible I am for finding comfort in him.

...that suddenly my friend doesn't feel safe with me.

i have helped this friend calm down from midnight spirals. I have tried my best to show up for her.

all btw while finding comfort in & being Jax.

i've felt connected to Jax since day one, like many fans,

and I'm trying to love that side of me and how much I can grow from being a fictionkin.

and I was pushed away.

that friend was blocked and I left the group chat.

don't be sorry for setting boundaries. don't let people tell you you're horrible for finding comfort in the good sides of a bad character.

I don't know why I tried. The friend acted like I wasn't "acknowledging her concerns" or "acknowledging I was wrong"...

I apologised many times for coming off as rude and breaking down and leaving the group chat. I'm not going to apologise for setting a boundary that she tried to set in her own words and still kept breaking mine.

It's not that hard to just not talk about a character around me.

She said "I'm not doing whatever this is anymore" (respecting my boundary? that she never respected?) and so we're cutting contact and I'm leaving the DND campaign she tried running with me in it.

I don't understand why it's so painful for her to not respect a boundary or communicate with me. But I guess I don't understand a lot of things.

I just wonder what school will look like. And what my school's creative writing club will look like.

I guess I can keep writing and just.. ignore her. As bad as that feels.
