What would the age rating for Raiden's Quest be?
Raiden’s Quest and Guardians’ Advent are both comparable to PG-rated movies. When I (Jay) first started taking an interest in media and animation, I knew I wanted to make a commitment to make the content I’ve worked on both deep and family friendly. So, there will be no strong language, no adult/mature content, and no excessive violence/gore. However, I don’t want to follow the trend of “dumbing things down” in an attempt to make them extra kid-friendly. RQ/GA both have deep storylines that can get pretty intense at times, so while there’s no content that would directly make them not kid friendly, I’ll give the caveat that some scenes might still be a bit intense/scary for especially young viewers.
Sorry this is so late but can I ask a question about your WolfQuest series on Youtube? or not?
No worries! Sure you can, but that’s probably better directed to the @jayplaysgaming account :)
Any tips on how to form a good character in a story?
No matter what the setting of your story, good characters still have to be grounded in relatability somehow. Even if you have a completely fictional, fantastical setting, even if you have non-human characters like the wolves of Guardians’ Advent, they need to have qualities your audience can connect with. Not all their qualities have to be relatable-- if they did, Guardians’ Advent would never work simply because the characters aren’t human-- but they still need something to ground them.
The characters of Guardians’ Advent still show a lot of humanized traits despite not being physically human-- for example, Arashi’s dreams and ambitions help make her relatable. Most of us probably have experienced some sort of longing throughout our lives, so that’s something we can connect to when we see it in her. You can pull off a more “realistic” animal character that doesn’t perceive the world the same way humans do, but the more you veer away from human experience, the more you’re going to have to take pains to ensure you help the audience understand and relate.
This is also why it’s important to make sure a character has their flaws, too. Real humans aren’t perfect, so if you have characters that are, your audience usually won’t be able to relate to them. There are some exceptions to this, places where a “perfect” character can be used to make a point, for example, or places where a character’s role doesn’t require them to be developed enough to need to show a flaw (i.e. minor background characters), but for your characters that are meant to be getting a good amount of spotlight, you usually want to make sure that they have their own struggles and flaws.
Does anyone know what the Blood Brothers animation was?
The team knows about Blood Brothers, yes! And there’s a good chance that whatever workflow we use to make Raiden’s Quest will be used for Blood Brothers as well. I still want to produce that one too, whether it be as a test for the methods we later use for Raiden’s Quest, or concurrently with the animation.
Hello! who runs the Guardians' Advent tumblr?
Hey! The tumblr account is managed by @jay-does-art , the creator/lead writer/character lineartist for the comic.
Thanks for answering all these questions, i really love the Guardians' Advent comic, and i think so far that it is beyond incredible, and whenever Raiden's Quest comes out, i'm sure it will be phenomenal. But i didn't want to be constantly asking questions every five minutes all the time, so this will be the last question for tonight: Who is the whole team that works on Guardians' Advent?
Thank you! I’m glad you’ve been enjoying the comic and looking forward to the animation! And aww no worries.
The team that’s worked on the comic thus far has been comprised of four members. I’m the main writer/character lineartist, and the other three artists have worked respectively on storyboarding & helping with lineart, coloring, and backgrounds.
Hello! I do storyboarding, concept art, and occasionally lineart when the occasion calls for it. Glad you like the work we do ❤️

Can i keep asking questions?
Sure-- I’m not too sure when we’ll be coming out of hiatus as I mentioned before, but I don’t mind answering a few questions.
Have any shows or games or anything else inspired the making of Guardians' Advent?
I wouldn’t say the comic is directly based off any one source, but there’s definitely a collection of things that played into it. I love fantasy, I love tales of heroes and myth and legend, I really loved the Balto movie as a kid-- all these interests definitely lent themselves to the comic in various ways, and I know the rest of the team’s interests did as well. So there’s not really one big source of inspiration, but there’s definitely a lot of bits and pieces that came together to influence the comic in various ways.
As of the characters we've seen, which one is your favorite?
They all have their own charm but Kaji is definitely a very fun character to work with, haha.
Who came up with the characters of Guardians' Advent?
@jay-does-art came up with most of the base ideas for the story and characters. Then, those concepts were presented to the rest of the team, and everyone helped give feedback and expand upon those ideas to develop them further.
When do you guys think the next page will be coming out?
The comic is currently on hiatus. I don’t have an estimate for its return at this point, unfortunately. It’s a project we certainly want to continue, but right now I’m not sure when that’s gonna happen.
Official Post from Guardians' Advent: Hey all! We're working behind the scenes to get the comic back on track, and we thought we'd share some of that process with you guys! Official Post from Guardians' Advent: Hey all,We're sure you've noticed that we haven't posted in a while, and we'd like to apologize for disappearing like that. Hey guys! We’re so sorry for our absence, and for all the broken links! Our lineartist had some super bad technical issues that left her without a computer for several weeks, and during that same period our background artist stepped down. Thankfully we’re starting to get back on track, but it may be a bit before we’re ready to release pages again.
As you may have noticed, our website is also down. We’re working on getting it back up, but in the meantime you can follow the above link to our Patreon for instructions on how to easily read the comic there. Again, we’re truly sorry for all the delays, and hoping to be back in action soon. Thank you so much for your patience and understanding.
Woooo page 30! But poor Kaji. Also, we ran into some technical issues this week, and while we’re hoping they shouldn’t affect our normal posting routine, there is a chance the next page may be a week late. Fingers crossed… Transcripts: Kaji: And she’s gone… Kaji (Narration): Ah, well… it’s probably for the best. Kaji …
