I  NEVER  EMBARK  ON  A  JOURNEY WITHOUT             A  GOOD  BOOK  TO  ACCOMPANY  ME.
independent genshin rp for xingqiu Â
iâm 2 weeks late here but letâs try something â like for a starter? \o/Â
the festival in ritou is slowing down  as the event draws to a conclusion, but Xingqiu has learned something about the shops: theyâre desperate to unload their extra products before the crowds dissipate. Heâs balancing several parcels of drinks, snacks, and commemorative postcards, even a few colorful bookmarks, and the entire pile of goods threatens to go spilling from his arms and out over the pavement. Therefore, itâs a relief to finally catch a glimpse of a familiar face -- itâs that friendly Mondstadt bard whoâs been helping them out.Â
â Ah, Master Venti! Could I call on your assistance once again? I seem to have, er, bitten off more than I can chew here... â Maybe heâd like a postcard? Or some taiyaki?Â

ăăTO ANY OUTSIDE OBSERVER, itâs likely obvious that Xingqiu is once again jerking the exorcist around, but Chongyunâs obsession with his inability to come face-to-face with an evil spirit leaves all skepticism directed at himself. And so, despite his hesitance, he listens attentively to Xignqiuâs explanation, and even nods in understanding.
ăăThe last words have his eyes widening, however, and he glances around before looking back to Xingqiu.  â If thatâs so, thenâŠhow am I to trust youâre the real Xingqiu right now? â
poor chongyun. His gullibility is just too much fun -- that earnest expression, those serious words, the nod as he eats up every one of Xingqiuâs words like theyâre part of this pleasant picnic array... Xingqiu has to bite the inside of his cheek to keep a smile from betraying his carefully crafted web of lies.Â
â The way they do it in all of the novels, â he answers, trying to match Chongyunâs serious tone, â is to ask a questions that only the real person can answer. For example, only the real Chongyun would know what I whispered in your ear at Wanmin Restaurant last week. Tell me, and then ask me a question! â
iâm 2 weeks late here but letâs try something -- like for a starter? \o/Â
Xingqiu was disappointed by Guhua's martial arts program at the beginning, but he found the other tricks they taught to be exactly what he had hoped for. Quicklime, smoking sand, paper fish, sword-swallowing, fire-breathing... Xingqiu was spoilt for choice. He decided on the spot that he would learn them all, no matter how long it would take him.Â
At some point Iâll write a longer thing about this, but I like that Xingqiu apparently just learned street performersâ tricks and he probably incorporates some kind of sleight-of-hand movements into his fighting style. Lime + water reacting creates smoke, so he probably uses this to disguise his own movements and confuse enemies. ( Also, the Guhua âmartial artistsâ he trained with were almost certainly a sham based on this, unless theyâd just adapted to street performances after they faded into obscurity...! )
i have returned!!! i moved continents and jet lag kicked my ass but i am going to hold myself accountable today by reblogging memes ... following blogs... maybe even posting a starter call later B)Â
" Is this really where an evil spirit is hiding? " Chongyun questions, looking around the bright, sunny field with confusion. Skepticism, not so muchăŒnot only does he ( foolishly ) trust Xingqiu, but he's never actually come into close contact with a demon or spirit, so he isn't able to truly judge. Even so, this is quite an ideal spot, not the sort of place one would expect evil to be lurking about. // in which xingqiu tricks chongyun into a nice picnic
xingqiu's plans are never careless, so he's thought of an answer for this already. The average spirit surely wouldn't like the yang energy of the midday sun, the heat and the light, but if one theoretically could withstand it...
â We have to stay on guard, â Xingqiu answers with mock solemnity, although obviously there's no cruelty intended behind his joking. â I heard that it's especially strong to be out in the sunlight, and can change its shape at will to confuse people. It could look just like that tree over there, or that rock ... or even like you or me! â
i picked a very bad time to set up this blog but i will work on starter calls and memes and all of those fun things soon! thank you to everyone who has followed so far :3

ăăWHILE DAINSLEIF DOES RECOGNISE the boyâs dedication and work, he was not quite trying to prune Xingqiuâs ego. Watching the boy fluff up in pride reminds him again of the Guhua discipleâs age, and he tries not to sigh.
ăăIn all honesty, now that heâs ascertained this master is but an energetic young boy, his interest has declined. However, it wouldnât be a terrible thing to hear what he has to say, and if nothing else, he seems quite studious, and thus potentially reliable when it comes to information on a subject heâs serious about.
ăăDainsleif accepts the offer, but then the outing takes a turn before it can even begin. He seems unperturbed, already anticipating Xingqiuâs eccentricisms, and answers earnestly.
ăăâ Yes, Iâve had them many a time in my journies. Theyâre satisfying, although I would not call them a meal. â
the sandbearer trees  are growing not far from the bank of one of Liyueâs many streams. Having determined that this man is not a threat for the time being, Xingqiu finally sheathes the sword and leads the way along the stony pathway, gold-detailed shoes practically skipping across the ground.
â A true adventurer must always count his blessings where he can find them, â  he defends, although itâs not without a knowing glint in his eye at his own exaggeration.  â How beautiful must lotus seeds taste to one exhausted from their journey, from countless battles against deadly foes? He looks at the river, wide and sparkling, and he sees â there! A friendly face in the crowd! â
A little green stem, rising from amidst the broad leaves. Uncaring for the state of his shoes, Xingqiu wades into the shallow water and reaches out to snap the stem before turning to offer it to his new companion.  â For you, my liege! â
namelessrequiemâ:
ăăRECOGNISE, YES, BUT HEâS ALSO learned his fair share of information on the second son of the Feiyun Commerce Guildâs manager. Dainsleif respects the boyâs initiative not to throw his connections around, much more dedicated to his revival of the mostly-dead sword style he practices.
ăăâ I know enough. I am not a practitioner myself, but the Guhua Brotherhood used to be prominent in this country. It is all but extinct now, with no formal teachers remaining. I had heard that there was a master keeping the art alive, and decided to investigate, which has led me to you. â
a master ... ! Maybe not wholly, not yet â but itâs not going to stop Xingqiu from preening like a proud peacock for a full second or two. Itâs one thing to be recognized for his family connections, the wealth and status afforded to him from the Feiyun Commerce Guild, but quite another to have his true passions identified and praised, be it the sword artistry or his work with the pen.Â
â If you have an interest in the history of the Guhua clan, then we ought to talk about it over a good meal, â he suggests after a second. After all, this is the polite thing to offer. The man is obviously a guest in Liyue, and would do well to have some of the great culinary treats set out for him at a restaurant.Â
But there are two problems: one, Xingqiu cannot return empty-handed with no lotuses to show for his outing. And two:  â But Iâm afraid weâre rather far from the nearest restaurant. Perhaps... ah! I know! Have you ever eaten fresh lotus seeds before? â  One move, two gains, as they say!Â

â STAND DOWN. â Although thereâs little emotion to identify it, the command is said in partial jestăŒDainsleif is of course unshaken by the â aggressive â reception. Perhaps because he has grown to expect this, and yet at the same time because it has nothing to do with him. The hydro-vision holder had been so obviously engrossed in his book that anyone could have startled him.
â This is what remains of the Guhua clan? Your young age contributes to your sense of wonder. ⊠Although I suppose I am not one to talk of letting ancient traditions go. â
a few emotions flicker across Xingqiuâs face as he gets a chance to properly observe the stranger â an apt choice of words, because theyâre definitely strange, all cloaked in night colors. His worry is replaced by relief when he gets a response instead of a sword clashing on his own, but thatâs in turn subsumed by a momentâs embarrassment to be caught like this. The hand holding the novel tucks itself behind his back, the book retreating into the ruffles of his sleeve so that the cover canât betray him. ( Itâs not a real manual of the Guhua sword art, after all... )Â
That comment doesnât sound very friendly, but ultimately even that gets passed over, because Xingqiu has noticed something. He doesnât sheathe the sword yet â itâs possible this person is still dangerous â but he lowers it before taking an excited skip forward.Â
â You are able to recognize the Guhua sword style? â Has he really met another connoisseur of the martial arts tradition? The very idea puts a little sparkle into his amber eyes. â How much do you know? â
officially speaking,  insofar as what his friends and family think he is doing right now, Xingqiu is busy with an important mission â gathering lotus heads for Xiangling. A total of zero lotus heads have been gathered so far, however, and beneath the shade of a yellow sandbearer is the sight of a young man with a tasseled sword in one hand and a novel in the other. Close enough, and one might overhear a few muttered phrases between the sword strikes against invisible enemies â how interesting, not bad! Oh, this one won't do...
But the interruption doesn't go unnoticed. The next graceful spin sees his sword pointed at the guest, the book snapping closed around a silk bookmark.
  â â Declare your intentions! â
( Ah. Still caught up in the martial arts fantasy inside the pages, apparently. )
