Today I am relaxed. The judge already gave me life without parole. Actually three consecutive life sentences without parole for a serie of armed robberies. So I'm being transfered to the maximum security prison to serve them.
I'm relaxed, letting the guards cuff and chain me. Iet them do it. For me it's special because it's my first and last long journey being chained.
I like the feeling when I watch at my hands, firmly kept in position thanks to the black lock box attaching them to the chain around my waist.
I'm docile, letting guards restrain me.
But even if I enjoy the chains my favourite part is the disposable jumpsuit. Red is my favourite color so I'm glad DOC gave us these jumpsuits for the travel.
I'm used to my life at the californian maximum security prison where I was housed until today. Locked up 23 hours a day, and one hour yard time. Also the uniform was good. Blue trousers and ligth blue shirts is a fashionable combination. Not my favourite but a very good one anyways. And I really liked wearing gray shorts and being shirtless on hot days in summer.
But it's not a bad change. Last 6 years as a maximum security inmate in CDCR were very good but the CVSP prison is being closed. So now all of us inmates serving life without parole there will be moved to a new prison. And as the state lacked accomodation for us in maximum security in the state we're being transfered to custody of federal Bureau of Prisons. The reason why we were choosed is since we're all serving life without parole there is no need for us to go back to court and no administrative problems with parole. All of us will just be permanently in custody of federal goverment, in a federal prison.
Well, if one of us want to appeal, surely, he will get a new journey in Air Con, with all the chains and that stuff. And a short stay in county jail. And restraints for court. Of course, if court grants him a hearing.
But I'm not interested. I just want to move each day between my cellblock and the yard. For me, this bus ride was my last time appreciating the beautiful landscapes of California. From now on, the only outdoors I'll experience is the yard of the federal prison I'm being transfered to.
This and the one after landing tomorrow will be my last times traveling by bus. Never again. And no better way to enjoy it than wearing a red jumpsuit combined with chains.
This is special. A whole plane full of inmates who will never leave prison, taking the last long distance journey of their lives. A one way ticket for everyone. Everyone in their seat, fortunately without disturbs.
To make it better, due to reason related to bureaucracy of the Bureau of Prisons, we have to spend a night at the Oklahoma prison airport. So we'll have two fligths in two different days instead of just one.
Some of us already have their hair shaved. I'll get my head shaved at the intake at federal prison like everyone else.
And soon I'll change into my new uniform. I was told it will be an orange jumpsuit so our prison intake will be similar to those for inmates in Oklahoma.
