So I got a theory on how Mrs. Park might have died
Before I get into the theory, I'm going to give content warnings.
This theory contains mentions of pregnancy, death, objection of women, child death (brief mention), and suicide (brief mention)
And a small trigger warning to fictional gore
If you are sensitive to those types of topic or not in the right mindset, please scroll away. Please look after yourself 🫶
Now, onto the theory!
I do apologise for the awkward placing of screenshots due to the tumblr limit on photos. I had to put screenshots on a white background to fit the screenshots I wanted to use for this post. 😓
My theory is that she died from childbed fever, also known as postpartum infections/puerperal fever
Let me explain. It's heavy implied that Mrs. Park is dead with these lines from Orville
Knights of Guinevere, in-universe takes inspiration from European fantasy which that is based off European history or at least a romanticise version of European countries histories.
Yes this could be a thing against Disney since most of Disney Princesses (Like Aurora, Cinderella, Snow White as a few examples) are based on European folklore/fairytales since Brothers Grimm travelled around Europe countries and which Disney Princesses stories is a kid friendly version of Brothers Grimm version of those stories.
However terms like Princess, sir, Kingdom, etc was popular terms in medieval European countries (and these terms are still used today but not as much as they did centuries ago)
The moon Knight and Sir Arthur (Sun Knight} are based on knights which was popular in medieval times
They got the armour and swords that were used in medieval European countries.
Arthur and Guinevere are names in King Arthur legend (a legend well known in UK), Sir Arthur being a possible reference to King Arthur and Guinevere being a possible reference to Queen Guinevere (Names wise)
Historically, the most common killer for pregnant women back then (mostly Queens or ladies in royal court from my knowledge) was childbed fever in European countries.
Why do I think this? Is that there is a theory that Gwen is based on Orville's dead wife with in the trailer, Gwen is laying on a gravestone
Also yes I know this is meant to be the intestines but to me at a first watch it looks like a umbilical cord.
Even in the scene where we found out Gwen has organs, it reminds me how pregnant women in media hold their stomach when they are found out they are pregnant to an extent. Even though Gwen in this scene is trying to stop her intestines from falling out.
Childbed fever infects inside of the stomach since that's where the baby is.
I think Mrs. Park might had a complicated birth to Olivia. She survived it. Women can survive childbed fever despite it being rare now, but sadly, she can still be vulnerable to it again in future pregnancy.
Maybe Orville and Mrs. Park tried for another kid or an accidental pregnancy since condoms and birth pills aren't 100% going to stop a woman getting pregnant or a man getting a woman pregnant but that baby was a stillborn and Mrs. Park finally died from the fever.
This could explain why Orville and Olivia have grey/white hair when their natural hair colour is black.
To my knowledge, people can get grey/white hair from stress or trauma. It's called marie antoinette Syndrome, but again, it could be blue lung disease since it's theorised as well that diseases can cause marie antoinette syndrome.
If Gwen is based on Orville's dead wife, then it makes it more disturbing since I saw someone on Tumblr point out that Guinevere's design is getting more and more sexualized
The live action remake Guinevere reminded me and other people in the fandom of the sexy warrior or sexy agent/superhero/supervillain/etc woman trope you see in media
I know, women bodies aren't automatically sexual but since I'm guessing in-universe Live action Gewn is a real life actress (in universe storying telling, I know Guinevere is a fictional character in our real life world and in-universe world)
However, this actress is still wearing a very revealing outfit
(Again, I know women wearing revealing outfits isn't automatically sexual.)
In universe, it's mostly likely to objectify Gwen and sell more Gwen projects for the male gaze, since in real life the sexy warrior or sexy woman trope is designed to please the male gaze by men for men then to destroy purity culture views of female sexuality. It's a trope originally rooted in patriarchy views on women and their bodies. (I know this trope can and have been changed to destroy purity culture views on women but if we are speaking about the history of this trope, then yes this trope's sole purpose was to objectify women and their bodies for the male gaze)
If the theory is true about Guinevere being based on Mrs. Park, then, this can be a call-out of women, and they can't escape the objection of women and their bodies even after death.
Especially when it comes to Hollywood, fashion industry, music industry, etc. As a example, There is a pose which I'm going to call the most beautiful suicide named after the photo that the media time called it, this pose has been used in movies, music videos, other media. This pose sadly came from a real woman called Evelyn McHale who sadly took her life in 1947, a photographer student named Robert Wiles took a picture of this women's corpse and this photo got republished in led time magazine.
This suicide came popular in Pop Culture, another example would be Marilyn Monroe, which, in pop culture as well, reduces her to a sex icon, stripping her away of her humanity even after her death.
Anyways, this is just a theory about Gwen and Mrs. Park. I want to know what you think. You are free to disagree. Just be polite about it. If you agree, that's cool, if you don't agree, that's also cool!
Bye, I hope you have a wonderful day/afternoon/night! Thank you for reading my little theory!
