This is the first time in my life when it's actually fair to criticize the President for gas prices. I've spent so many years explaining to people that Presidents have pretty limited influence over the price of oil and that they do not have a magical lower-gas-prices button on their desk, I almost forgot that the President does actually have a raise-gas-prices button on their desk called "start a war with Iran for no reason"

i love how jigsaw just fucking hates depressed people
hello john. i have noticed that you're depressed. that's fucking stupid. you will notice that your penis is in a mousetrap.
If you follow Selmers to the poetry society meeting in Night In The Woods, this is her poem. I loved it and the themes of the game, and wanted to use it as practice to see if i can control the way readers ‘hear’ the words through images.

Bad things need to start happening to tech investors
I called it before. The AI bubble is going to burst in the next 2 years so theyre going to use the last desperate shrieaking breath of their investor cash to preorder massive amount of equipment supposedly for expanding and building new data centers so the cost of pc part ramps up to untenable levels to make it seem like its totally unaffordable to own your own PC because once AI is proven to be unprofitable, the next big thing theyre foing to daisy chain into is forcing everyone to pay a subscription fee to rent processing power remotely so you dont even get to own your own hardware.
LISTEN TO ME NOW
Theyre comparing the idea of owning your own PC to the idea of everyone owning their own data center which an evil, patently false comparison. PCs use far less power playing a video gsme for an hour than data centers use to make one badly rendered anime girl wank image for 3 seconds. They are going to price this service so cheaply it seems like a no brainer, a total steal, probably like 10 bucks a month to start out.
IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT THAT YOU NEVER BUY INTO IT AND LET EVERYONE IN YOUR LIFE KNOW THAT IT IS A SCAM TO CONTROL YOUR ACCESS TO EVERYTHING.
Not only will that price rise quickly after the firdt 2 years as soon as the service proves unprofitable or worse everyone actually starts buying it, your computer will just be a chunk of processing power and storage allocated to you from a remote site. So what happens when theres a problem with it? You just have to suck it up idiot! What happens when you want to download something google or amazon or X thinks is vulgar? You think theyre going to let you? You think theyre not going to censor and block every porn site and black/latino/queer space online? FUCK YOU IDIOT!!!! They WILL! And theyll do it gladly, and you wont have a choice. What about your data security huh? Right now you can store anything you want on a drive or thumbstick and REMOVE IT FROM YOUR COMPUTER ENTIRELY making it as secure as paper files from anyone trying to access it. This total cloud computing would be like if you could only store all of your shit on google drive and they ALREADY OPENLY ADMIT THEY ACCESS EVERYTHING YOU STORE IN THERE. Even if they say this wont play by the same rules it doesnt matter they will gladly hand anything everything you store in their data center over to the highest bidder whether its legal or not. Whose gonna stop them? Not to mention their legal obligation to provide your info to just about any gov agency or police office anywhere. And you think data breaches are bad now? Whats going to happen when individual consumers start storing their tax data in these things? Their passwords to everything? What about how much you pay for internet? You now have to stream your entire computer experience through your broadband connection. Sure you do most things through a browser now but now your computer doesnt access the internet from your home anymore. You have to send requests to your offsite computer (wherever they decide it is that day) and wait for your commands to reach it, then wait for it to access a website server somewhere else, wait for that server to send the data to it, and then wait for it to send the data to you. Awesome efficient use of bandwidth!!! This goes for everything btw, streaming, video games, research, it all filters through an unecessary line of bandwidth.
So what do we do?
We use our old shit. We dont give ANY money to these control freaks. We fix our computers and treat them well, we use cheap older garbage if we have to. We use what we can afford and get a hold of. We help each other out, we share information with our families and friends and help them understand what theyre truly giving up the precedent theyre setting for the rest of us if they buy into this. We hold onto every piece of hardware we have, nothing is too outdated anymore.
We weather it. Its not sustainable for them to keep buying up all the hardware forever if nobody is paying for their product. Just like crypto, NFTs, and AI, this is just another temporary investment fad rounding out the gasps of the tech industry as they reckon with the inevitable deflation of the hyperprofit stream provided by the last 25 years of tech boom.
WE HOLD THE LINE.
They can steal the freedom your personal hardware gives you from you when youre graveyard dead.
Got it?
never do any sort of collaborative storytelling with your friends youll get addicted for life
