Hi there! Welcome! Since you're here, I'm assuming you've found this blog via my FFXVI fic "Surrender My Soul" on AO3.

Here you'll find a number of things relating to the lore/world building of the fic, things that give a little more context to the overall story.

The fic is long, standing currently at about 75,000 words in its unedited state on google docs. And it's not finished yet. Not by a long shot. Which is why I thought having a little place to info dump would be good, to help both myself, and any readers, keep track of the developments in the story.

It will mostly be background information and maybe some relationship diagrams as the story progresses, as things will inevitably begin to get a bit messy and complicated as we delve deeper into the narrative (believe me, there's a lot of stuff to come).

All posts (that come after chapters 1 and 2) will be hidden under a cut, to avoid flashing spoilers to people that are new readers or haven't caught up.

Also feel free to ask any questions if you have them :) I'll be using the tag #SMSask when answering any asks, so beware any spoilers for chapters.

That's all I could ask for! I'll be reading as long as you're posting but if you ever feel like you're done with it, I would understand. A plot outline for the rest is more than most people ever leave and I'm very interested in knowing where it goes. You saying it gets very interesting only makes me more curious!

Hi, I was the first kudos on chapter 1 when you posted last week and l just read chapter 2 and I wanted to let you know how much I love your fic and am so glad you're posting again! I loved part 1 and thought about it all the time during the wait. I'm patient and I would understand if you'd abandoned it, but for some reason I always thought you'd return and l'm glad I was right. I was overjoyed to see you post the first chapter and read it straight away.

I'm not comfortable off anon and I didn't have a tumbIr account so I made one specially to send you this. l've been having a really hard time lately and seeing the new chapter up today was a nice surprise on a bad day. I hope you're doing better too and know that you've made my day with your fic. There's so much l'm excited to see play out, especially some stuff with the characters you've eluded to in the last 2 chapters. Can't wait for chapter 3!

I'm glad you're enjoying the newest part and were willing to wait for it 😅 I do feel maybe I've left it way too long, and people have forgotten about it and moved onto different fandoms...which is probably true. I will say, though, if I ever do finally run out of steam for this fic, I will absolutely outline what I had planned for further plot. It gets veeeery interesting later. I sure hope people recognised the nice little name reference to another great Dragoon in the FF series :) Freyja is also a nod to yet another Dragoon in the series (just altered the spelling because I preferred it for this). This one was more unintentional since I already liked the name for Sleipnir's baby ^^

Update

I will be taking a break from adding new chapters for the fic for a little while. I cannot say for how long. I hope it will not be too long, but I cannot give a definite date for new chapters. While I do have a whole bunch already still written (probably about another 50k words) that's just waiting to be edited, I need to spend my free time doing other things apart from just solely focusing on this fic. When I'm not at work I'm working on this fic in the evenings before I sleep. I'm doing little else BUT working on it. I'm burning myself out real fast and I don't want this fic to feel like a slog if I keep going at this rate each week.

I would like to take a break and do some other things, like play some games and maybe do some other writing for other fandoms and other fics that I currently have in progress (but not posted).

Thank you to everyone that has been following this fic so far. I just need to reset my brain and do other things, and then I can come back to this story with a fresher pair of eyes for editing.
