a young demon slayer who joined the corps after learning that his brother had only murdered their mother because she had become a demon and will do whatever he has to grow in the ranks just for a chance to apologize to said brother for calling him a murderer when he was younger.

this is where there will be spoilers, so if you don't want to be spoiled, look away

in the battle in the infinity castle, genya receives a fatal blow, which would have killed him if it wasn't for the fact that he ate more than what was shown from upper moon one and was revived after the battle. and in doing so he survives, so that's why this blog is canon divergent beCAUSE I CAN DO THIS SHUT UP, I'M THE WRITER.

       and people thought that him eating demons was a bad thing--just seeing the way that the other's arms dislocated like that, genya didn't know if he should scream for help or not. when inosuke said he could do such a thing, he didn't believe him at first, but now that he's seen it first hand..

               "please say you can put them back into place as well..."

it's been a while since i've done one of these here, so like for a starter if you'd want one.

Sanemi looked back at Genya when asked the question, the light smile on his face. As if he didn't know. Then again, it has been too long since Sanemi made a cake or made a present. But now he still had his brother and was able to make up for it.

"You'll see. Just come on." He got to the kitchen of his estate and there on the kotatsu was a homemade cake, black icing with purple icing for decoration. Nothing fancy, in fact it still looked like a child made it. Next to it was a box wrapped next to it with his gift inside.

"Happy Birthday, Genya."

       genya would follow along after his brother, there was excitement in his heart as he knew just how much he had missed the birthdays that were spent with his family, to be able to spend them from now on with his older brother--it meant the world to him.

       so, when he entered the kitchen, he saw the cake that was decorated just for him and his heart would already be swelling up with happiness, even if it did look like a child had done it--it was the thought that counted. he then saw the gift on the table and he reached for it, carefully opened it to reveal the plaque inside and the tears flowed out of his eyes.

              " 'nemi..this.." he didn't have the words to even say, just reading with the present said was making him sob as he rushed his older brother into a tight hug. "thank you!"

       he was grateful that he made it to his seventeenth birthday.

       genya could see just how nervous inosuke was and when he explained as to why that was, the young man couldn't help but offer him a soft laugh and a smile as he shook his head.

              "don't worry about it, i didn't really think i'd get any gifts anyway, but thanks for thinking about me anyway," he didn't really care to get anything on his birthday, he had been use to it just being another day out of the year. but knowing inosuke wished him a happy day was good enough for him.

       he then held a hand up to his own mouth.

               "you got some of the frosting on your mouth, though."

       when he felt the hand touch his shoulder, he turned to his teacher and seeing the gift in his hands, genya took the beads so gently in his own, holding them close to himself. they were beautifully made and seeing the chord that held them together, he would give a smile as he glanced up at the stone hashira.

              "thank you for this, mr. himejima, this means a lot to me. i'll keep them with me all the time." he was already starting to place them upon his neck, grateful to have someone like gyomei in his life.

        zenitsu wanted to spend the day with him? and the fact that he was going to treat him to whatever he wanted to do? genya didn't know what to say at the moment as he just stood there in disbelief.

       that was until he was brought out of his own head.

              "oh! um..i don't really know what i'd want to do.." he's gone so long not celebrating his birthday that he was at a lost of what kinds of things he'd enjoy doing. "what would you want to do on your birthday?" he just needed some ideas.

Today was an important day. It was the first time since Sanemi ran from what he'd done to celebrate Genya's birthday. So, he walks over giving a nudge of his foot to Genya's ankle. As the one who had to take care of his siblings for their mom to work, he usually took care of making sure birthdays were good.

"Come on. I've made you something."

       genya would feel the soft kick upon his foot as he turned to see that sanemi had come to collect him. there would be curiosity that roamed through the young man's mind as he began to get up from mwhere he had been lounging around.

              "what is it?" though he had a feeling his brother wouldn't say what it was given what day it was, but he had to ask as he followed along after sanemi.

all birthday things will be answered tomorrow, i have to be up very early tomorrow morning for work and i spent all day with friends. i did however get a genya card from the demon slayer card game though! so woo!
