Okay so I'm dumb. But I have a question about Annette in Castlevania Nocturne.
Why do her eyes change when she returns from the spirit world in season two? I mean, I googled it and it gave a vague answer. It said that it's likely because of her powers. But here's my thoughts on it.
I think it's because she embraced her heritage as someone who's related to Ogun, and how powerful she truly is. I think she's embraced her power, her blood, her warrior spirit. I think her eyes go from a pretty deep brown shade to the red with gold around the pupil as a way of symbolizing her magic. Her bloodline, too.
I mean think of all the importance of eyes in this series.
When vampires level up (as I call it) when their eyes go red, it symbolizes they're at full power. Like when Carmilla in the original series is fighting Isaac. Or when Dracula faces off against the trio.
When Drolta is turned into a vampire, her eyes go all black and then turn bright pink too. They shine all the time when she's a night creature.
When Edouard is a human, his eyes are a pretty clear blue, but when he's a night creature, they glow almost neon blue at times.
Olrox has neon green eyes that shine when his emotions are up or when he's fighting or using his power, or even when he's a dragon.
Alucard has his usual yellow eyes until the end when he's facing Drolta, he levels up too.
Tera and Maria have weird green and blue eyes (kinda like a light turquoise).
And of course Richter has blue eyes that burn like his blue flames when he's fighting or using his elemental magic.
Spoilers: but at the end of season two, Mizrak has blazing red eyes.
So obviously there's a deep symbolism in eyes in this series. I mean, everyone's eyes change when they use their power (save Juste, Maria, the glowing ghost lady who was the captain of the revolution, and sometimes Tera)
But I'm thinking that maybe the reason we see Annette's eyes change is another way to show her power. Her total badassery.
I mean even Erszebet has glowing red eyes when she's pissed. So there's clearly some kind of link in the show to magic and your eyes glowing.
I'm probably rambling and thinking way too much into this. But I just thought it was cool. I mean, seriously, every single time I watch Annette in the spirit world, I get goosebumps and I cry when she sees her mom. I love these shows and the characters within. I love how amazing Annette and her story is. How detailed. It's so good. And I mean, as ive stated before, my favorite character is Drolta. But Annette is just so freaking badass and cool that I can't help but fangirl over her.
