♕ —- Molly didn’t mind taking on extra responsibilities. If there was a job to be done, she was going to do it even if it wasn’t her responsibility. There were a lot of people suffering from accidental ailments and so little healers to go around. And there seemed to be more children running around that only made her ache for her own. Kneeling down in front of the other, the midwife gave them a pleasant smile before she held up the lollipop that she had hidden in her pocket. “It’s all yours if you tell me what’s wrong,” she said half jokingly. “I can try my best to get you out here as fast as possible.”
.
Augustus lifted his head (and his eyebrow) at the sound of Molly’s voice. He knew, absolutely knew, she couldn’t have been talking to him - he was perfectly fine - and yet, she was, in fact, speaking to him. “If I tell you I’m waiting on a patient, and not a patient myself, are you going to rescind the offer of sweets?” Of course, if the patient in question were anyone but his mother, Augustus would not have hung around to wait and be offered sweets at all. “I must look terribly morose, then, but alas. I have no ailment to blame it on.”
