i really like abacus valley it obviously has the angle of mystifying the doctor's office toy from the pov of a child but it also evokes like math being invented by the riverside and horses changing the way civilizations function like idk its this super cool confluence of indicators of change told very whimisically.........we love it
i love this incredible analysis so much wow thank you!!
i’ve been trying to paint something with a similar atmosphere but in a different setting to capture a different type of nostalgia, here’s a little WIP for ya

Hi,
I just saw your paintings for the first time, particularly abacus valley, and I'm sorry if this is inappropriate in any way but I wanted to let you know that it moved me in surprising ways I wasn't expecting.
I am nearly 40 years old now, but when I was a very small child in the early 1990s my older sister had a rare form of cancer. She lived, she's mostly fine these days at 46 years old, this is not a sad tale.
But when she was receiving treatment we had to drive almost 5 hours away from home to a specialist at a large, regional research hospital. I, being about 3 or 4 years old, was mostly confused about everything that was happening. But the hospital had a huge play area, with many of these wire and bead toys. They entertained me for hours and hours, so much so that the memory of them is one of the few clear ones I have from that early childhood era.
When I saw the whimsy of the toy animal contrasted with the tranquil, dream like background mountains in your painting, I felt a wave of joy. It was like waking up from a good dream, blurry eyed but at peace.
It comforted me in such a nostalgic way I am kind of reeling from the unexpectedness of it.
I just wanted to let you know that your art moved my heart towards joy.
Thank you. I wish you all the best in all of your endeavors.
Sincerely,
An Anonymous Fan
Hi, thank you so much for your message I don’t think i can express enough how much reading this means to me, your story absolutely tugged at my heart strings and inspires me to create more artwork that resonates with people!
Admittedly, Abacus Valley is unlike a lot of the work i’ve made previously and is something i’m trying to hone more into (nostalgia and surrealism) and all the kind and supporting messages I’ve received have seriously moved me in a way i did not expect.
It’s been taking time figuring out logistics to open up an online shop but when they are available I’d be more than happy to send a print of Abacus Valley your way!
I’m glad to hear you and your sister are doing well and again thank you so so much for sharing your story, it made my entire day and I’m glad it made yours as well 🫶

if anyone is interested in getting their hands on the ORIGINAL PAINTING of this, the online bidding for it has started HERE !!!
Do you have Cara?
Hi there! I used to have Cara but never really used it (it’s been at least two years)
my username is the same over there but I don’t think I ever posted; I might start using it again since you asked haha
Abacus Valley is beautiful
thank you so much i yearn to be there personally
You may have already answered this, but i couldnt find it through any digging 😅
But do you sell prints of any of your work? I worked with botanists and many of your plant creature works (and surrealist paintings in general) speak to be. They are lush and whimsical.
Hi there and thank you!! Currently I've only been selling prints and stickers at markets in my city, however I am in the process of setting up an online shop so everyone can get their hands on something :]
The biggest hurdle has been figuring out shipping logistics (I live in Canada and am trying to find a cost effective way to work around US tariffs for those who live there)
I will make an update post when things are up and running!
what are your feelings on someone getting a tattoo of your work?
i actually designed a mothman tattoo for a friend a few years ago, it’s pretty cool seeing my artwork on skin!
as for getting any of my preexisting work tattooed, just reach out and consult me first about it :]
