Way down the line, when they're leading Ottawa to another Stanley Cup, Ilya gets slammed too too hard by some eager new player. He's knocked unconscious and Shane practically flies from the box to the ice, watching as the EMTs intervene and carry him out on a stretcher.

Yuna goes in the ambulance with Ilya — Shane can't get out of his skates fast enough to run over in time, so he drives a few minutes behind them — and she calls Shane to keep him updated. It's fine, it's all fine, Ilya is already semi conscious and talking to them both. Shane's mind goes to all of the worst places anyway.

They lose service when they get in the elevator, but Yuna still sends out a text message with the room number. Shane speeds faster and then bolts through the hospital.

When he finally sees Ilya, minutes later, already in a blue hospital gown and connected to an IV but conscious and beaming up at him, Shane breaks into tears.

"Don't cry, solnyshko," Ilya says. "Come here," he holds out the hand that's free from the needles and Shane takes it.

"I have something important to ask you," Ilya tells him. It suddenly feels so serious. Shane's heart drops.

"Will you come to my cottage this summer?" Ilya says in a sing-songy voice, using his best Canadian accent. "Don't go to Russia. Come to my house, we'll have so much fun..."

Shane laughs. "You remember that?"

"Every fucking word."

yes and no... lol. ilya is pretty firm about nothing happening in public, buuutttt.... shane always pushes the boundaries. especially if he sees anybody eyeing ilya, he won't allow that and very much feels the need to stake his claim. he will gladly suck a hickey into ilya's neck openly in front of anyone to see. ;)

ilya isn't much better either though. shane will be on the floor dancing with rose and a random man will grab at shane and try to grind on him. ilya is there within 30 seconds and shoving him off.

"security concerns" is what ilya always claims. but shane knows he's lying and it makes him so hard lmao

rose knows about them, and so does cliff. both of whom help cover for them when they can.

ilya tries so hard to put up a fight but he can't say no to his shanya 🥺😍😂 so yeah they've ended up in a number of random bathroom stalls and in the back of the car on the drive back home because shane simply Could Not wait lol

oh and the sexting is endless. shane loooovesss being a menace and sending a filthy text and/or picture when he knows ilya is in meetings and just busy in general. there has been a couple of different times where yuna has asked if ilya was okay after he had just received a shane text lmfaoooo [yes, he still always opens them anyway even when he knows it's going to be dirty. he can't help himself, and can you blame him?]

i think the most reckless they get before the night shane is almost abducted and they get caught is when they go to the compound shooting range together. it's no surprise considering their line of work that they both reallyyyy like seeing each other shoot a gun. so of course they wind up fucking in the middle of the floor about that, shane's bouncing on it like a trampoline and anyone could come in at any moment.

[cliff is on camera duty that night which is why ilya even allows this to happen. he is polite and cuts the view from those cameras while they have their fun and then deletes everything LMAO]

I think Actor!Ilya would be a big action movie star (started as the forever villain but after one of his characters did a heel turn in the final act, people started letting him do other stuff, like star in blockbusters as a bad boy with a heart underneath all that bluster or the complicated vigilante character. So still not too different) before he gets a pretty big switch up as an actor bc an offer comes him for a movie, specially, for him to play a drag queen, Patrick Swayze style :}

(I’m split between non-famous!Shane and him having broken and this being the movie that helps Ilya decide that he wants to take that risk with Shane and helps him realize he’s craves visible queerness more then he ever thought he would OR Ilya meets set designer shane who seems to always pop up just when Ilya feels like he’s hit a Wall, that he’s making some big mistake)
