i just love corbeau, man. he’s so great. i love how he’s written, i love his design, I love his team layout, i love how the rust syndicate progresses from completing disengaged to actively cheering us on and helping us. i get a similar feeling to the team skull shift in (ultra) sun/moon mixed with the black/white gym leader support in N’s castle. i love battling with him, it’s so fun and NOT JUST SPAMMING STAT BOOST MOVES and the pokemon i use really compliment his team (not on purpose). also he hops when he throws out a pokeball and i almost screamed.

he’s such a Kalos character. idk how to describe that, but i played X and Y so much that i had every pokemon location memorized and knew how to avoid every avoidable NPC. this game is such a wonderful continuation of that. X and Y had a friend group— a group that you join because you’re new and getting your first pokemon too. and this game just elevated that feeling. like these are all your friends, and they like you and want to help you. you have team MZ, you have these powerful players and their organizations, you have an entire city behind you. it feels likes like a foil to the X Y desperation during Lysandre’s doomsday call, where your friends can only do so much and it feels like everything can’t be stopped. and he’s a part of that. he is a powerful trainer that you fight beside and he waits to fight beside you and literally lets you climb on him. also he has a rat bastard of a gyarados and as much as it annoys me, I respect it.

I love that every time Corbeau gets the chance to battle alongside us, he takes it
