You needn’t remind me, I was simply warning you so that if you see me wearing green you don’t fall off your broom.”

“Of course not. But Ravenclaw isn’t playing in that hypothetical match, and that’s the house that the both of us not so hypothetically belong in.” She grumbled, crossing her arms, feeling sour by all the lack of support. “I still might. Honestly, it’s like we aren’t mates or something.”

“You know what they say about pride, don’t you, Gwenog?” Anthea said, raising her eyebrows as she strolled toward the Ravenclaw. “I am excited about the match but I’m also fairly confident that you’ll be disappointed with the outcome.”

“I don’t know. You’re the house full of the arrogant people. You tell me.” She said, literally just fucking irritated at this point by the sheer number of disbelievers, and trying not to take it out on the girl before her. “Honestly, it’s fine. I just can’t wait to pick everyone’s jaws up off the floor when we wipe your asses across the pitch.”

“Thanks, Lil! Every bit of support counts.” She grimaced slightly at the advice. “I believe it says in the Art of War, not only do I have to believe in myself, but, also that ‘if the mind is willing, the flesh could go on and on without many things’. If I believe, and I make everyone on my team believe, then our bodies will follow.”

“I’m afraid not.” He understood the insult implied perfectly well but refused to indulge a halfwit such as her in true banter. In fact, he was quite bored with the entire conversation at this point and further debate was futile, the results of the match would speak for themselves. With such a deduction in his mind he turned to leave without even granting her a goodbye.

He’d spoken all of six words, and she’d spoken a handful herself, and suddenly he was all uppity. She snickered at his retreating back wondering what the bloody hell was wrong with this idiot. Maybe he just couldn’t handle social interaction for more than a few minutes at a time. “More like Rabastan Deranged.” She muttered, turning to go.

“Nope, you smoking hot traitor. You cheer for Slytherin, you’re no Ravenclaw.” But there was no heat behind it, and she just ended up poking her tongue out at him. “Oi, need I remind you that there’s a sweet piece of ass on the Ravenclaw team you should cheer for. Two actually. Damn, Ludo is gonna be so hurt.” She teased.

Now a grin spread across her face and she let a hand hover over her lips. Oh how pleased she was to know how many people she’d convinced to cheer for Slytherin, how pleased she was to know that they had a couple secret weapons. “Oh wait, weren’t you the one who called me a Third Year and claimed not to know me? How astonishingly stupid that was. I know who you are Gwenog Jones, though I may wish I don’t.” Instead of ‘shooing’ as Gwenog had suggested she rested her chin on her hand and looked at the girl. “Really? Like what? I can’t think of many things more interesting than speaking to me.”

Gwenog wasn’t worried. No matter how many people cheered for Slytherin only a few people took the pitch. And that group of untalented hotheads weren’t going to win. She was going to make sure of it. Not to mention at least Ravenclaw was better than losing morale just because the crowd wasn’t in their favor. “Ok, precious, it’s not that deep? You walk around with people I actually know from fifth year to class. I’d say I wouldn’t notice you, but that shrill grating voice of yours has haunted my nightmares since the first time we talked... so... Oh, so your fake ass does know me. Wow, stunning turn around there. I’m ever so shocked and hurt.” Yawning, Gwenog flipped her hair. “Literally watching paint dry is more amusing and, honestly, prettier, than listening to whatever comes out of your insipid little mouth. But seeing as you’re not good with social cues, I’ll let you in a little secret that might make you remotely likable. Don’t force your presence on people who couldn’t give less of a shit about you.”

“Even if they’re gonna lose spectacularly?” She punched his arm playfully, grinning widely. “As long as you promise, then I guess you can stay my favorite Slytherin.”

“It’s extra special, because you’re the one wearing it, princess.” Gwenog grinned, hugging her cousin and stopping the twirl. “Are you kidding? I love it! Happy birthday, beautiful.”
