i am so, so immensely proud of them for receiving this award today.
exo-ls and armies can literally fight me on this, but i, for one, think that wanna one truly did deserve this award. (not that bts or exo didn’t, they worked hard this year, they had much recognition and were absolute kings.)
BUT wanna one really is a monster rookie, they had a super huge impact in korea because they were literally made by koreans.
and by super big, i do really mean it. these korean producers voted every week for them when produce 101′s popularity was booming. when i went to korea in june, their (pd101′s) billboards were e v e r y w h e r e, many people posed and took pictures in front of them, countless shops were playing their songs, i’ve overheard more than ten people talking about them while walking down the streets.
now that the final group has been formed, it is no surprise that they have broke many records (such as being the fastest in getting 100k likes on melon in less than a day, having the most viewed debut mv in 24 hours). they have become million sellers, they’ve sold out their concerts.
so before anyone calls wanna one out for not being talented enough, not being experienced enough, not being decorated enough (with awards), please do really think this through. we wannables and them wanna one didn’t expect this award at all, so i hope that irrational fans would get some sense knocked into their heads before bashing them.
yoon jisung didn’t spend years living in that small room watching flies mate for insults thrown their way. minhyun and sungwoon didn’t suffer through times of being unknown and unrecognised for people undermining their effort. guanlin didn’t come to korea to be encouraged by being called ‘flops’. there’s still so much more about the other members that i can list, and for god’s sake, they’re d******ing next year, can’t you just let them live?
