Meeting Jake Gyllenhaal
So, what I failed to mention in my last post was the fact that before meeting Rupert, I also scored a picture with another very talented person. And judging from the picture above, Iâm pretty sure you know who it is.
Jake Gyllenhaal.
So when my dad and I ventured out to get a picture with Rupert Grint, we left the house at such a time that we had almost three hours to kill. And instead of waiting in the cold for one person, we decided that we could wait outside at two locations and get two pictures.
We had seen Jakeâs show Constellations earlier that week after waiting for three hours for student rush tickets. The showâs running time is roughly an hour and ten minutes, and is fabulous. I highly recommend it (read: go see it, now!). But as you might have guessed, the reason why my dad wanted to go back was because we didnât get a picture. On the night we saw it, some random drunk guy started heckling him and he got really pissed off so he walked away without taking pictures with anyone on my side.
We got to the theater roughly 30 minutes before the show got out and waited on the wall adjacent to the doors. A couple had already set up across the way, so my dad and I figured we should mark our own territory instead of risking going to their side. But when the security guards came to put the barricades out, they told us to move because the side we were on was for people seeing the show (sound familiar? I swear this is some kind of new rule that never existed before. This is just a foreshadowing of what would happen later.). As we were moving across, a lady and what I assumed was her daughter but was actually her niece appeared and took the spot where my dad and I could have gone. We would now be creating the ever hated second row behind the barricade.
Let me explain to you why I hate the second row so much in five words: so close yet so far. The people is the front usually get so defensive that anyone behind them is lucky to get an autograph let alone a picture. So you can imagine by bitterness.
But turns out the lady and her niece were pretty nice and the girl was skinny so she let me on the side of her so I could be in the first row with my dad right behind me. We all got to talking and turns out the lady likes to get pictures with celebrities too, only she skips the important part; she doesnât see the shows. That annoys me because itâs basically what a paparazzi person does, except less aggressive. But I got over it because she had some pretty cool ones. A highlight being Leonardo DiCaprio (!!!).
The girl and I decided that we would take each otherâs pictures with Jake because the angle when your family member is squished up behind you makes your head look huge and just overall not attractive. And how are you supposed to post a picture with an awesome celebrity when you look like crap?
I mean, Iâve done it before, but stillâŚ.
So Jake finally came out and walked right over to my side. He quietly signed some playbills and when he got to me I asked for a picture. âSure, sureâ he said, and took off the huge, round, brown sunglasses he was wearing so his face could be seen in the picture. The girl (who looked like a mixture of Kendall Jenner and Hailee Steinfeld) took a really good picture and when he moved on to her, it was my turn to take a picture of her.
Now a lot of you might not have a really good sense of my character from the previous blog post, but maybe itâs time for you to know that Iâm very clumsy and often falter under pressure. So the girl had an iPhone 6 which Iâve never operated before, and maybe you can guess what happened.
So I pressed the button and the camera did a thing and I tried to take another, but it took forever to focus. So Jake (from State Farm as my dad calls him) walked away thinking I had taken one and I handed the phone back to the girl and asked if it took.
Of course it didnât.
So then I entered a downward spiral of embarrassment and stupidity. I apologized profusely, but I could tell that the girl and her aunt thought I was some absent-minded 12 year old. At that moment, my dreams of fitting in with the cool people melted away and I was left feeling as old as my baby face makes me look.
But I guess it turned out okay because her aunt got Jake to come back and she took another one. So we both walked away victorious.
I mean, yeah. So that was a total recap of the day I met Rupert and Jake!
As itâs become a tradition for this (shamefully neglected) website, on the day our man was born I make a post with the latest pictures of Jake with fans, as a reminder to us (and him, should he ever google himself and find this place) of how happy he makes people. Iâll add some shots from new/old photo-shoots just because I havenât updated in forever and this place needs some âfresh airâ. It also needs me to have a private life again so I could update more often than once in a blue moon but hey, new yearâs resolutions and all that.Â
So hereâs to you, dearest Jake, Happy 34th from this very-crazy-Gyllen
Keep loving life and never stop dreaming
Iâm also very glad to add the first publicity still from Everest, just to rejoice at the sight of The Beard (which I noticed is nicely growing back, by the way)
And a couple more, from the play Constellations (previews currently on Broadway). Gorgeous shots.
Last but not least, Happy Holidays folks!
I hope that 2015 is good to you

An Unpublished Photo from Schoellerâs Retrospective Exhibition. (Nov. 13, 2014 - Jan. 3, 2015)
Schoeller says he included this photo of Brokeback Mountain stars, because it so perfectly captured their easygoing friendship.
A new synopsis for Southpaw, Jakeâs new film about to be shot in Pennsylvania, has been released:
âCocky, aggressive, volatile middleweight champion Billy Hope (Mr. Gyllenhaal) fully expects to ride out his career with his massive winnings, adoring fans, beloved wife, Maureen, and their 10-year-old daughter, Leila.
When Billyâs temper triggers a fight and then a shootout that leaves Maureen dead, Billy finds his life spiraling out of control. After he loses his house, money and then, Leila, to a group foster home, he begins to find his way back to some kind of balance with the help of amateur trainer Titus âTickâ Willis.
Tick has his own demons but he proves to be the perfect trainer to make Billy a better fighter, man and father. Forest Whitaker has been rumored for Tick but no casting for the role has been confirmed.âÂ
Remember that you can still try to be an extra.

A propos of this, for those of you who want to know more about James Baldwinâs life and writing, donât miss this amazing article from The New Yorker Iâve just found.Â
Last but not least, not sure if this is a new interview (I doubt it) but if thereâs someone out there willing to translate from Dutch theyâre welcome to share. Thank you!

I know what youâre all thinking. Something along the lines of âhuh?â, âthe hell?â, âseriously? weâre all talking about what he did and GC comes out with what, biceps?!â
Well yes, biceps. Because I donât even want to mention what the rest of the world has been shouting for joy about these past two days, Iâm that brokenhearted.
Just kidding.
NOT!
Luckily that glorious, manly, soft (oh yes Iâm sure it was soft *sigh*), rebellious Beard that Jake dared to shave *gasps* usually grows back quickly so itâs just a matter of waiting and seeing how long heâll resist the submission to the daily routine of *gasps * shaving.
And anyway, among the myriad of tweets and FB and Instagrams and blogs and forum posts and all other means of information-sharing, carrier pigeons included, no one and I mean no-one deigned to mention that something else had grown along with what Jake shamelessly disposed of *gasps* and thatâsâŚhis biceps.  OK, will you look again at this and forget about his chin for a moment? See? biceps. Capital B-iceps. Thatâs all I want to focus on and Iâll ignore the rest until I finish sulking (I usually act more maturely than this but Iâm traumatized and therefore entitled to be silly).
This rather idiotic post is obviously just an excuse to celebrate something that Iâm already missing, with the hope that itâll return back where it belongs soon, namely on Jakeâs face. I mean, honestly folks, whatâs there NOT to like?
Not to talk about these very good points (which my friend Sasha kindly shared with me)
Look, itâs not like I would kick Det. Loki out of my bed, Iâm not THAT idiotic.
Especially if he resembles Jack Twist so much
Loki
Jack Twist
Speaking of Jack Twist, I got chills down my spine reading about the boots Jake wore and apparently brought home from the set of Brokeback Mountain: âIt didnât feel right to leave themâ, he said. Shame on me that I didnât know about this.
New Post - Jake Gyllenhaalâs Biceps @SashaJTB I know what youâre all thinking. Something along the lines of âhuh?â, âthe hell?â, âseriously? weâre all talking about whatâŚ

Yesterday night Jake Gyllenhaal and writer Colm TòibĂŹn were at Columbia University for a celebration of essayist, playwright, iconic writer James Baldwin, and a reading of his masterpiece âAnother Countryâ. How I wish I were there. I hope someone caught in on tape, it must have been an inspiring, thought provoking conversation. And if you havenât read this book please do so.  âGiovanniâs RoomââŚ
