i had a dream recently where yall updated the ceo au (i don’t remember which fic specifically), and you were like “okay guys bear with us we decided to change up the format for the rest of the fic” and it was a chatfic?? but like an embedded, scrollable imessage format and the dream felt so real i had to triple check that it wasn’t real

anyways, i love the fics and your art, and im so excited for the next update whenever it’s ready!

ceo au has made it into the dream realm 😳 every time i see a fic have the most insane imessage coding i'm impressed and a little scared. i came across a fic that had multiple chats you could click in and out of with a few scrolls worth of messages. every time i thought a ui element was just for show it actually functioned.

the digital writing medium has so many opportunities such as these and it's amazing to see people flex their creativity and skills. thinking very specifically abt the story in this post where a fanfic author had hidden text you could only see when highlighting on screen. it can change the way you tell a story

zoey and hye-jin teaching the twins how to skateboard!! of course they wanted to use their mimo's cool tattoos as designs for their boards 🙂‍↕️ mira and zoey helped the twins with the designs and application of the stickers so that it could be a surprise for rumi <3 this pic is how rumi finds out

seo-jin rides a longboard, more interested in surfing around than tricks. he also rides goofy ;) he wanted to be able to see mimo's magpie while riding so he put it on top and used clear grip (also to show the pretty wood)

so-mi ofc wants to do crazy tricks, so she's got a shortboard with deck rails to protect her board (and mimo's tiger)

i had wanted to draw this for forever, but what really got me to start was envisioning so-mi wearing one of those helmets with the mohawk 😭

hi hello good day another HTFOTJ brain worm has breached containment. i was listening to 24hr dog by fka twigs and got slapped in the face w the memory of that doodle you drew abt rumi training the dogs while mira was pregnant and I think one of the tags was literally "something something rumi sees herself the same as the dogs something something" and idk why but this song was the thing that made the meaning behind that doodle click violently into place

I'll attach the note on the song here for reference but as the story plays out I'm making more connections and inferences abt their dynamic and now I just hurt my own feelings before lunch 🫩

sorry lol this is a bit of ramble but ik you guys like to hear our thoughts and musings abt the stories and every time I reread a chapter or hear a song that reminds me of the story i have an AHA! moment abt a different detail and I needed to yap abt it (and spread the gospel of good music idk)

i could go on and on about the parallels you could draw between rumi and the dogs tbh… and i think it’s worth noting that rumi is the one who insisted on the dogs, who trains them so seriously (esp when mira is perfectly fine with having lazy lap dogs).

many readers see rumi’s behavior and motivations in HTFOTJ as her punishing herself for what happened in the prequel, and it is that, but it’s also her being incredibly protective of mira and the twins—and as we’ll see in the coming chapters for IKTE… for her that includes protecting them from herself.

it’s punishment as much as it is (in rumi’s mind) selfless protection. but, very importantly, it is never atonement. rumi isn’t looking for forgiveness or absolution, she’s making sure it never happens again.

so she buys and trains guard dogs, she sits in on every security briefing, personally vets every single member of mira's staff, and holds herself at a distance

but mira just wants cuddles, and rumi would never hurt mira again

rumi denies being a cuddler, mira captures evidence

I've been thinking non-stop about this fucking fic. I can't get it outta my head, it's playing on repeat non-stop babiii! No but for real, annoying you with this because I had a neuron fire and I wanted to annoy you with my reading of your story so far. I have a hypothesis for the reason that Rumi and Mira are not together yet is because Rumi is still punishing herself over what happened on Mira's Birthday years ago (and whatever subsequent events followed there after that you are yet to reveal to us.) It makes sense. Rumi allows herself to be in Mira's life, to serve her and be there for her, but she has a line on where Mira can reciprocate everything. I still need more info from the chapters yet to release, but the fact she refuses to let herself be the Twin's mother in name because she feels she must repent for all of her past transgressions and is unworthy of that title? Self deprecation, thy name is Rumi. (Not to mention I'm tormented by the lack of context of that one artwork you did where Zoey says, "How do you not break every time?") She's punishing herself for what she did to Mira. She believes she's undeserving of Mira's forgiveness and her love and that is why she refuses to accept it. (I am deluding myself by making parallels to the source material of Rumi's characterization, in this essay-) I imagine Rumi cherishes every second of every day Mira lets Rumi stay in her life after their relationship fractured and all the work they had to put in to repair it. Rumi currently is committed to spending every day of the rest of her life repenting for what she did and anything that might jeopordise this new "peace" she's found must be crushed at all costs, hence why she lost her shit at Zoey during their first meeting. (: Do not tell me if I'm right or wrong, I just wanted yap about how much I love this fic you guys made and let you know it's taken up residence in my tiny brain and there is little room for much else. (: I will amend this theory as more chapters get released, but thank you so much for making it. It's so fucking awesome.

i love that y'all are having so much fun with this fic! iden and i were just talking about how fun it is to see people picking up what we've been putting down---very satisfying and affirming. we've spent hours and days and weeks thinking over every scene and word and Implication for these fics. we're very intentional with how we want the characters to be read, and the reactions to the latest chapter of I Know The End have proven our efforts fruitful :D

it's very heartwarming to see you and others share your thoughts and theories on this story. as we pass the 100k published word count for the series, i keep thinking about where this all started and where we are now. iden and i genuinely thought this would be a one-shot at first, i'm not joking 😭 by now i've given up on any kind of word count or chapter count expectation, as we've consistently blown right past our estimations and plans every single time we adjust them. IKTE was supposed to be 3 chapters of vignettes.... and now here we are..... and i wouldn't change it <3

Nevermind that Rumi and Jinu show up near them a few songs into her little routine. Nevermind that she and Rumi find themselves face-to-face as Jinu presses up against Rumi's backside and Other Woman presses up against Mira's and the crowd closes in and presses them all closer. Nevermind that Mira has a leg between Rumi's legs and vice-versa as Mira transitions back to more standard bump-and-grind club dancing. Nevermind that Rumi is only inches in front of her, staring at her like she wants to eat her alive as Jinu's hands grope and slide over the smooth fabric of her sinfully revealing black dress. Nevermind that Other Woman's hands are roaming Mira's stomach, her mouth on the side of Mira's neck and along her shoulder and all Mira can think about in her drunken, overwhelmed state is that Rumi looks like she's less than a second away from biting Other Woman's head off and Mira wants her to. She wants Rumi's hands on her. Wants her mouth on her. Wants her teeth on her. Her fingers in her.

"Rumi…?" Rumi shuffles some, pulling Mira with her so that Rumi can spoon her properly, and Mira relaxes against her as Rumi murmurs, "Stay." The small smile is evident in her voice as Mira whispers in return, hands overlapping Rumi's own, "…okay."

super excited for y'all to really start to see the seeds we've sown for the main fic >:)) iden and i put a lot of work into planning everything out and scrutinized our characterizations to hell and back. neither of us thought that this project would become this big, with a combined word count of 90k and not even halfway through either fic 😭 but these are all good things

i want to thank everyone who has been following along with this fic and who has been patient with our nebulous posting schedule 😳

this is actually the perfect opportunity to tell y'all what i've been up to these past 2 months (besides ceo au, ofc) 😛i've been incredibly busy with wrapping up my last term of uni! the only time i could give to drawing anything outside of my school work was only enough for these chapter releases (trust, i was in the studio in between classes working on ceo au smut). on top of school, i've been getting ready to move!

I have plenty of WIPs, but I struggle to post those mostly bc i'm a perfectionist 😭 but this means that i'll have plenty of projects to finish and post >:)

however, i'm graduating this friday!!!! so the busyness should die down enough for me to start posting more consistently :) i've got PLENTY of ideas i want to illustrate, so don't worry about my holding back on account of spoilers. especially since i like "spoiling" just enough to stir up some drama 😈

that being said... give it a week or two before i follow through on that promise 🥵 i've still got a lot of packing and moving to do. but as soon as i settle in... ;)

sorry if someone’s already asked and i missed it but how much is the prequel going to cover? like is it going all the way up to the decision to hire zoey? bc seeing 15-20 years of rumira being GAY and YEARNING and NOT COMMUNICATING will hurt me so bad but im also fully sat and ready for it

i don't think anyone has asked this so you're good!!

since the trend these days in the writing process is "oh, actually, we want to say so much more," we're planning on taking the preq all the way up until the interview 😈

but worry not about prolonged suffering!! there's domesticity and sweetness (and smut) and a glimpse of What Could Be sprinkled in later in the preq!! and also plenty of time skips :)

we're responsible angst farmers and rotate the variety of angst regularly to prevent over-farming

CHAPTER 2 OF I Know The End THE CEO AU PREQ IS OUTTT

Mira hums and turns on the hot water tap, letting it warm up as she leans against the bathroom counter. "Sorry. I went out for drinks and… got distracted almost immediately upon getting there." "...I assume you had a good night?" Rumi teases, her stomach doing a weird swoop when she notices the marks moving up the insides of Mira's thighs. Mira instantly blushes and clears her throat, a nervous giggle breaking free as she averts her gaze from Rumi's to her own reflection in the mirror — and oh, that's… that's new and different.

a HUGE word count jump from the first chapter, but for Good Reason. there's just so much to say about early rumira, and so many dominoes needed to lead into where we're at in HTFOTJ (a butt-ugly acronym i'm so mad). but this chapter (and the next) in particular are incredibly important as they show why everything is Fucked Up. and we're not even at my favorite part yet 😈

reading the preq isn't needed to understand everything happening in HTFOTJ... but it definitely enhances it. we are Conscious of when we post the chapters for each fic... ;) they rhyme....

also, given some recent interactions, iden and i LOVE speculation. PLEASE chat in the comments or send asks with your ideas for where the story is going, and/or all the details and plot beats you've noticed so far :)

thank you! in terms of having a schedule… not really, at least not intentionally. iden and i are constantly working on the fics and art, though! currently, iden is writing THREE simultaneous fics for the ceo au, EVERYONE SAY WOW AND THANK YOUUU

this means: the current timeline How To Finish on the Job, the rumira prequel I Know The End, and a third ceo au fic we haven’t announced yet ;)

this is all to say that we’ve been updating whenever we can, and that tends to be every 2-3 weeks. SO, keep your eyes peeled for a new prequel chapter sometime soon ;)

after the end of chap 5 seeing how mira was visible to zoey from her room I just wanna know will this little window be used for voyerism? I think its a great idea but I also dont know the exact layout of the house so I could be imagining it wrong and there may be no space for that.

I think this would genuinely be hot asf highkey just wanted to bring it up because I haven't seen anyone else say anything about it!! 😞

that part of the house was definitely designed with... viewing in mind 😏 zoey is gonna be getting A LOT of information about rumi and mira's dynamic

there will be some voyeurism, but not from where you'd expect ;) iden and i have been calling it "the peeping tom scene," and it has such a special place in my heart. it's hot AND it's a load-bearing plot point

up thinking abt the au instead of sleeping and im trying really hard to understand the source of rumira's miscommunication.

we know mira fell first and the love is reciprocated but uncommunicated by the point we're at in the main story but I'm struggling to understand why rumi has withheld that information for so long.

i think I've settled on, she must genuinely believe that mira only sees her as a best friend/pa so she plays into that role to keep mira close and "maintain the status quo" but like the writing's on the wall😭😭

Idk chp 5 threw me for a doozy and the only reasonable conclusion I can come to as to the end of the chapter is that rumi thinks zoey is going to replace her, and she believes she's replaceable to both mira and the twins (hence, her general melancholy and withdrawal the entire chapter) because she doesn't hold more value to mira than a fwb. this would also explain why she so vehemently denies that she's the twins' mother (when she mentioned that the twins were their kids at the office, mira shut her down and insisted that they were simply hers (but like omg she was only using rumi's own insistence against her) and invoked the boss-employee relationship, and both slights were because rumi displeased her)

I didn't mean to write a book here lol I just have so many questions and theories

idk, after all this hypothesizing I think it might just be a coping mechanism stemming from abandonment issues caused by her parent's deaths. perhaps she keeps mira and the twins at a certain distance bc their perceived inevitable loss will be less catastrophic if she doesn't allow herself to be completely immersed in the family of it all. poor rumi. poor(er?) mira. fucking dumbasses, the both of them!

ouuuugh!!!! i love your thoughts. rumi certainly has a few illogical thought processes going on throughout the whole fic, but most prominent in the past two chapters (chap 4 + 5) — and we haven’t even gotten into the meat of it

As for trying to make sense of what we do see, i suggest tuning in to the prequel 🙂‍↕️ the parallels we’re setting up between the past and present are gonna go crazy. 

speculation is ALWAYS welcome, iden and i love reading what y’all have to say and what you think is going on. there’s been a lot of interesting theories and reads so far, and a few have gotten pretty close to what we have planned 😈 we’ve put a lot of work into plotting everything out so that the small reveals make sense in the moment, and come together at the end to create the full picture.

i honestly spent wayyyy too much time designing the logo. iden and i spent a good hour just going back and forth coming up with ideas for the name alone 😭 i've had this logo made for a LONG while now, probably since I started seriousposting stuff for this au. i've been waiting for the perfect moment to reveal it 😈 although, those with a keen eye will notice that zoey's racing jacket in this post has the logo on it ;)
