He only grunted at her response, though was on the verge of speaking as soon as she just happened to pick his room, out of all of the o- nes available. Keeping quiet at first, Tony ke- pt his distance and leaned against the doorfr- ame.
It was odd to watch how slowly she walked a- nd looked about his room. It was like she’d n- ever seen anything like his room before, but then again, he didn’t know where or what sh- e’d come from. She was living on the streets, it seemed, and maybe that was answer enou- gh to his silent wondering.
Hearing the single word escape her, albeit qui- etly, Tony looked at her reflection in the mirror with furrowed brows. To him, his room wasn’t that great. It was a bedroom, and nothing mor- e.
"Wow, what?“
Taking a few steps forward, the engineer walk- ed closer to her with arms crossed over his ch- est.
Ava cleared her throat again, looking at the reflection of her feet, eyes trailing up her sl- ender frame until she could meet his gaze in the mirror, closer than before. At first, she shrugged and tapped her index finger once on the dresser’s surface before walking to bed’s edge and sinking down onto the soft comforter, crossing her arms over her ba- red stomach. Then she turned to actually l- ook at Tony, biting her bottom lip.
“I can be a real hard ass, I know. But this room is... I don’t know, it’s..”
She lifted one shoulder, glancing out of the singular, floor length window on the far wall. The moon was fully visible, and the skyline of the sleeping city was etched in blacks and blues against the pinpricks of stars in the sky. Then she let her gaze fall to her toes, curled against the soft gray of the rug.
“...It’s just beautiful in here. I’ve never seen anything like this.”
Suddenly she felt dirty, but she kept her face blank against the onset of strange emotions that rose in her chest. What was she doing in this very, very rich man’s building, shirt- and pant-less in the middle of the night? She’d bitten off more than she knew how to chew plenty of times previous to this, but for som- e reason, this bedroom made her feel unwor- thy of the air of confidence and poise that she worked to carry. Ava frowned, trailing one hand over the smooth material next to and underneath her.
