so fascinated by your method of studying ancient greek!! mine pretty much consisted of reading a page and hoping it implanted in my brain based on vibes alone

hehe, that's so real of you though! sometimes i, too, attempt to rely on mere divine intuition, but sadly i have a hard time absorbing all of the information unless i write it down and read it several times haha

our first project this term has been translating Lysias I - On the Murder of Erastosthenes. it's been quite challenging, but today i thoroughly enjoyed working on my translation.

lately, i've really been yearning for having somebody to speak ancient greek with. it would be so epic to speak a dead language out loud, even if grammatically incorrectly, and i also think it would help me absorb the language much better. even though my (few) classmates are lovely, i am not very close with them. where is the gang from the secret history when you need them 😔🙏

How do you memorize verb endings so quickly?

honestly i can't say i have them all 100% memorised yet, especially considering all the irregular verbs 😮‍💨 but it's all about revising regularly, as often as possible.

what i usually do is write down all of the verb endings for a certain type of verb (eg future, indicative), then i read them over and over in a certain rhythm that helps me remember them. after a while, i try to recite them without looking, and then i write them down and check my answers.

hi! whats the dictionary and grammar you use for ancient greek?

hi!! i use a grammar book in swedish (as i'm studying in sweden haha) titled grekisk grammatik by blomqvist.

for a grammar book in english, i highly recommend the cambridge grammar of classical greek! if you can't find it in a local library, you should be able to download it as a pdf. good luck <3

a chill and quite productive day at home. read for over an hour + updated my goodreads profile. wrote a letter to my grandma. walked my dog. drank too much coffee. planned for the upcoming term <3

i got a great grade in my final exam for the term! part two of the course starts on jan 20, so until then i'll be relaxing, working and revising to keep up my routine. it's been snowing like crazy these past few days, which calls for two things: lit candles and my comfort show ౨ৎ ⋆｡˚

currently cat-sitting for a friend, so they've been keeping me company while studying these past few days. it's all fun and games until they lie down on your work, but i wouldn't have it any other way :)
