Ask Box Open!
My name is Miles Edgeworth. I will attempt to answer any and all questions as swiftly and as eloquently as I am able, although I will not promise anything as ridiculous as a ‘perfect’ response. However, do be mindful of my time schedule. I am a very busy man.
((Independent ask blog up! Please feel free to send an ask!))
Heeeeey everyone I’m tired
Also um I keep... forgetting to take my anti-depressants... but like I’m good, I guess. It’s so weird. Like I’m depressed but I’m not. Like I keep thinking the same things but for some reason I don’t feel like shit about it anymore.
Anyways I guess that’s a sign that my mental health is going great. So I guess I’m back. You know what that means?
My anti-depressants are working real well but I had two god-awful nightmares the other night after accidentally forgetting my meds for two days so I’m getting worried about whether or not this is a good idea
I’m apparently not allowed to have any contact with any other websites other than youtube now because my mum is worried about my mental health and online isn't making me feel any better so I'm not gonna be on ere sfor a while sory

Some reassurance for you all
-Trump cannot do most of what he promised, even with a republican senate and house.
-He still has a rape case coming up and may still serve jail time.
-Trump ran as a democrat in 2012 and has tried to become president for way longer than you think. The only reason he went to republican is because he realized it would be easier.
-He is a joke and just wanted to become president as an ego boost. He’s not actually interested in making any real changes.
-His supporters will start to abandon him when they realize he can’t fulfill their desires.
-it’s just going to be 4 years. Besides, we’ve had bad presidents before and survived.
-We can always impeach him.

I know that it may be dangerous for a lot of people the next few days but trust me, it’s not the end of the world.
We will protest. We will impeach. We will fight. We’re not gonna let an attention hungry dried up orange ruin our lives.
Stay safe and stay positive. There is always hope and I hope this has helped you.

Thank you.

i was sitting on my couch, in tears, and my dad, an Old Liberal, sits down next to me and he says
‘i know i can’t say anything that will make any of this better, but i want you to know that, in 1980, when i was 18 years old, i watched the country elect ronald reagan, and i was just as devastated as you are now. it felt like everyone had gone insane. my friends and i joked about moving to canada or japan or england, just like you are with your friends. i was angry then, and i’m still a little bitter now, but I got through it. we all did. donald trump is not ronald reagan, i know, but if i can get through it, so can you.’
anyway that soothed my hurt a miniscule amount, hope it soothes you a bit
I can’t, I can’t look at this,I can’ fI cant I’m logging tout now

“Of course this is how tumblr reacts in an election.”
No, it’s not.
This isn’t even close to how tumblr reacts in an election.
How do I know?
Because I was here. I was right on this website in 2012, when we didn’t have messaging or replies, when the ‘t’ was different and the tea was different and we said “what is air” way too much.
I was eighteen, in my first semester of college, unable to vote because nobody told me how to register until it was too late.
And I saw the occasional posts. Tumblr is a pretty liberal website so you mostly had videos and photos of Obama doing adorable/cool things. A few of us laughed at Mitt Romney’s attempt to say that he was diverse because he picked a lot of women to be on his cabinet. There was some panic. There always is.
But it was nowhere near this bad.
Now I’m 22, in my fifth year of college, and you have bloggers pleading to vote for a specific candidate because they don’t want to be deported. You have posts upon posts upon posts where people are freaking out because they won’t survive going to conversion therapy. You have posts from people wondering if they’re still going to be allowed to called their partner their husband/wife. You have post after post after post talking about the latest black/Muslim/Latinix/etc. person to be harassed or attacked by a Trump supporter. You have posts about people already committing voter fraud and people threatening to show up to the polls holding guns. What we went through in 2012 is nothing compared to what we’re going through now. Both on tumblr and in the nation.
The fact that tumblr is reacting this strongly to this election is terrifying in and of itself. Because I can tell you that this is not how tumblr has reacted to elections before. Not even close. Because we knew that Mitt Romney would have been a bad president but at least millions of lives weren’t going to be in danger, at least millions of families and homes weren’t going to be broken up, at least there would still be some positive aspects, at least we could make the best out of a bad situation.
Tumblr’s posts are ugly right now because this election is ugly, one of the ugliest in history.
4 years older and the 2008 election was also nothing like this one. We didn’t much like John McClain, but by and large we weren’t terrified of him. Stakes were slightly higher in the 2012 election… a lot of people (like my brother), were only receiving life-saving care thanks to ~Obamacare~ (the republicans will always regret starting that one lol), and there was fear in the air for us, specifically, that Romney would repeal it and we’d start dropping like flies again.
But 2016? 2016 feels like a dream. A nightmare, specifically, some kind of shared fever dream with demon clowns (we’ve straight up got those) where no matter how fast you run you can’t get anywhere.
In 2008 and to a lesser extent, 2012, the mood was hopeful. A little scared, in 2012, depending on who you were, but it definitely wasn’t widespread outside chronically ill circles, that I noticed. 2016 is completely different, on Tumblr, around the country, and around the world. It’s like a madness disease that’s catching, and there’s fear and hate in the air like I honestly haven’t seen since right after the 9/11 attacks. It’s fucked.
Of fucking course
In 2016, 14 states will have new voting restrictions in place for the first time in a presidential election. The new laws range from strict photo ID requirements to early voting cutbacks to registration restrictions. Those 14 states are: Alabama, Arizona, Indiana, Kansas, Mississippi, Nebraska, New Hampshire, Ohio, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and Wisconsin. This is part of a broader movement to curtail voting rights, which began after the 2010 election, when state lawmakers nationwide started introducing hundreds of harsh measures making it harder to vote.Overall, 20 states have new restrictions in effect since the 2010 midterm election. Since 2010, a total of 10 states have more restrictive voter ID laws in place (and six states have strict photo ID requirements) seven have laws making it harder for citizens to register, six cut back on early voting days and hours, and three made it harder to restore voting rights for people with past criminal convictions.
